We evaluated the anti-tumor activities of the oral administration of fucoidan extracted from Cladosiphon okamuranus using a tumor (colon 26)-bearing mouse model. The materials used included low-molecular-weight fucoidan (LMWF: 6.5–40 kDa), intermediate-molecular-weight fucoidan (IMWF: 110–138 kDa) and high-molecular-weight fucoidan (HMWF: 300–330 kDa). The IMWF group showed significantly suppressed tumor growth. The LMWF and HMWF groups showed significantly increased survival times compared with that observed in the control group (mice fed a fucoidan-free diet). The median survival times in the control, LMWF, IMWF and HMWF groups were 23, 46, 40 and 43 days, respectively. It was also found that oral administration of fucoidan increased the population of natural killer cells in the spleen. Furthermore, from the results of the experiment using Myd-88 knockout mice, it was found that these effects are related to gut immunity. These results suggest that fucoidan is a candidate anti-tumor functional food. 相似文献

Xestenone is a marine norditerpenoid found in the northeastern Pacific sponge Xestospongia vanilla. The relative configuration of C-3 and C-7 in xestenone was determined by NOESY spectral analysis. However the relative configuration of C-12 and the absolute configuration of this compound were not determined. The authors have now achieved the total synthesis of xestenone using their developed one-pot synthesis of cyclopentane derivatives employing allyl phenyl sulfone and an epoxy iodide as a key step. The relative and absolute configurations of xestenone were thus successfully determined by this synthesis. 相似文献

The objective of this study is to identify the properties and responsible compounds for the aromatic roast odor (retort beef aroma) that commonly occurs in canned beef products and could contribute to their palatability. The optimal temperature for generating retort beef aroma was 121°C. An untrained panel evaluated both uncured corned beef and canned yamato‐ni beef and found that they had an aroma that was significantly (P < 0.01) similar to the odor of 121°C‐heated beef than 100°C‐heated beef. The panel also noted that the aroma of 121°C‐heated beef tended to be (P < 0.1) preferable than that of 100°C‐heated beef. These results suggest that retort beef aroma is one constituent of palatability in canned beef. GC‐MS (gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry) analysis of the volatile fraction obtained from 100°C‐ and 121°C‐heated beef showed that the amounts of pyrazine, 2‐methylpyrazine and diacetyl were higher in the 121°C‐heated beef than in the 100°C‐heated beef. GC‐sniffing revealed that the odor quality of pyrazines was similar to that of retort beef aroma. Therefore, pyrazines were suggested to be a candidate responsible for the retort beef aroma. Analysis of commercial uncured corned beef and cured corned beef confirmed the presence of pyrazine, 2‐methylpyrazine and 2,6‐dimethylpyrazine. 相似文献

The influence of proanthocyanidin (PA) structures contained in bark on color development in the vanillin-hydrochloric acid (V-HCl) method used widely as a quantitative method for measuring PA were examined. The maximal absorption wavelength was different in terms of the bark from which the PA was obtained. Phenyl nucleus (resorcinol, phloroglucinol) constituting the A-ring of PA reacts with vanillin to produce the color. The maximal absorption wavelengths of the solutions from synthesized procyanidin and profisetinidin were 500 and 540 nm, respectively, indicating that the color tone differs in the V-HCl method based on the hydroxylation patterns of the A-ring. The colored solution of (+)-catechin with vanillin was dialyzed, and the resulting product (C-VC) was analyzed by gel permeation chromatography and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance. It was found that C-VC was a polymer complex consisting of 9mol (+)-catechin moieties and 10mol vanillin moieties. Continuous milling tests with diamond-coated and uncoated cemented carbide tools and polycrystalline diamond tools were carried out on air-dried and wet melapi (Shorea sp.) and western redcedar (Thuja plicata D. Don). These tools were examined for corrosive-wear characteristics of the tool-edge appearance, cutting-edge profile, edge recession, and cutting-power consumption. The tool surfaces were observed with a scanning electron microscope and were analyzed by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Based on these examinations, the occurrence of corrosive wear while cutting wet woods was confirmed for the uncoated and polycrystalline diamond tools. In contrast, the coated tools did not exhibit corrosive wear, nor did delamitation or wear of the diamond film occur with any of the work materials. In smooth muscle tissue, two smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms (SM1, SM2) and two non-muscle MHC isoforms (NMA, NMB) have been identified. The purpose of our study was to clarify whether smooth muscle MHC mRNA expression reflects the physiological and functional state of the muscle. We studied the expression pattern of MHC mRNAs, using the S1-nuclease mapping procedure, in functionally and morphologically changeable organs; the ductus arteriosus (DA) during development (25 and 29 days of gestation, and from 3-day-old neonates) and uteri from virgin, day-10 pregnant (P10) and day-29 pregnant (P29) rabbits. The results demonstrated that SM2 expression was greater in the fetal DA than in the fetal aortic and pulmonary arteries, but that it decreased significantly following closure of DA. In the gravid uterus, SM1 expression was significantly (P<0.05) strong compared to other MHC mRNAs from virgin to P10 rabbits. During pregnancy, NMB expression showed a tendency to increase until P10, and after P10, SM2 expression increased dramatically and NMB expression decreased to give almost a mirror image of the SM2 expression. Smooth muscle type (SM1, SM2) was significantly (P<0.05) strong compared to non-muscle type expression (NMA, NMB) at P29. These data suggest that smooth muscle MHC mRNA, especially SM2 expression reflects the physiological and functional state of the smooth muscle. 相似文献
