The adsorption of fenhexamid (FEN) [N-(2,3-dichloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-methylcyclohexanecarboxamide] on vineyard soil amended with wine lees (WL) produced by vinery was studied. The adsorption extent depends on WL fraction. The addition of the centrifuged solid lees (SWL) increases the FEN adsorption on soil. Most likely, the organic insoluble fraction formed mainly by dead fermentation yeasts is responsible for the observed increase. The adsorption measured on some deactivated yeasts of wine fermentation shows that Saccharomyces cerevisiae are the most active in FEN retention. On the other hand, the soil amendment with whole WL decreases considerably the fungicide adsorption. This opposite effect may be the result of FEN hydrophobic bonds with the dissolved organic matter of lees that keeps fungicide in solution. This hypothesis is substantiated by the increased FEN solubility in the supernatant of centrifuged wine lees (LWL). The results of soil column mobility confirm that the elution with LWL increases the mobility of FEN in soil.  相似文献

Urocortin 1 (UCN) is a 40‐amino acid peptide belonging to the corticotrophin‐releasing hormone (CRH) family. The biological effects of this peptide are modulated by binding two G‐coupled receptors named CRH receptor 1 (CRHR1) and CRH receptor 2 (CRHR2). CRHR2 has high affinity for UCN. The aim of the present study was to investigate the presence and distribution of UCN, CRHR1 and CRHR2 in the epididymis of the South America camelid Alpaca (Vicugna pacos) by Western blotting analysis and immunohistochemistry. Tissue extracts of the organ reacted with the anti‐UCN, anti‐CRHR1 and anti‐CRHR2 antibodies, recognizing in all the cases a single specific protein band. UCN‐ and CRHR2‐immunoreactivities (IRs) were found in the cytoplasm of the principal cells (PCs) of the caput epididymis. A prevalent supranuclear localization of granular‐shaped positive material was observed. CRHR1‐IR was observed in the fibromuscular stromal cells encircling the tubules and in the smooth musculature of the blood vessels throughout the three epididymal segments. In addition, in the cauda, CRHR1‐IR was observed in some apical epithelial cells (ACs) which were morphologically similar to apical mitochondria‐rich cells (AMRCs). These results suggest that UCN, CRHR1 and CRHR2 are expressed in the alpaca epididymis and that CRH‐related peptides might play multiple roles in maturation and storage of spermatozoa.  相似文献

Ovothiol is one of the most powerful antioxidants acting in marine organisms as a defense against oxidative stress during development and in response to environmental cues. The gene involved in the ovothiol biosynthesis, OvoA, is found in almost all metazoans, but open questions existed on its presence among arthropods. Here, using an in silico workflow, we report a single OvoA gene in marine arthropods including copepods, decapods, and amphipods. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that OvoA from marine arthropods separated from the other marine phyla (e.g., Porifera, Mollusca) and divided into two separate branches, suggesting a possible divergence through evolution. In the copepod Calanus finmarchicus, we suggest that OvoA has a defense role in oxidative stress as shown by its high expression in response to a toxic diet and during the copepodite stage, a developmental stage that includes significant morphological changes. Overall, the results of our study open possibilities for the use of OvoA as a biomarker of stress in copepods and possibly also for other marine holozooplankters. The finding of OvoA in copepods is also promising for the drug discovery field, suggesting the possibility of using copepods as a new source of bioactive compounds to be tested in the marine biotechnological sector.  相似文献

In the assessment of plant response to the climate changes, the effects of CO2 increase in the atmosphere and the subsequent rise of temperatures must be taken into account for their effects on crop physiology. In Mediterranean areas, a decrease of water availability and a more frequent occurrence of drought periods are expected. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of elevated CO2 concentration and high temperature on reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and crop evapotranspiration (ETc) in the Mediterranean areas. The Penman-Monteith equation was used to simulate the future changes of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) by the recalibration of the canopy resistance parameter. Besides, crop coefficients (Kc) were adjusted according to the future climate trend. Then the modified empirical model (ETc = ETo × Kc) was applied providing an effective quantification of the climate change impact on water use of irrigated crops grown in Mediterranean areas. In the studied area, water use assessment was carried out for the period from 1961 to 2006 (measured data) and for a period from 2071 until 2100 (simulated data), showing a future climatic scenario. Water and irrigation use of crops will change as a function of climate changes, thermal needs of single crops and time of the year when they grow. Climate simulation model foresees the tendency for a significant increase of temperatures and a decrease of total year rainfall with a change of their distribution. The temperature increase and the concomitant expected rainfall decrease lead to a rise of year potential water deficit. About the autumn-spring crops, as wheat, a further increase of water deficit, is not expected. On the contrary, for spring-summer crops as tomato, a significant increase of water deficit and thus of irrigation need, is foreseen. Actually, for crops growing in that period of the year, the substantial rise of evapotranspiration demand cannot be compensated by crop cycle reduction and partial stomatal closure.  相似文献

Morphostructural characteristics of lingual papillae in buffalos The morphostructural characteristics of lingual papillae in 30 adult buffalos were studied by SEM. In this species, dorsal lingual surface papillae shos different shape so that their classification is complicated. Topography and morphology of conical and vallate papillae presents significant aspects. Particularly, the conical papillae have a different morphological organization when they are localized over the side of the tongue apex or over dorso-lateral tract of the tongue body. Precision agriculture (PA) technologies allow us to assess field variability and support site-specific (SSP) application of inputs. The joint application of PA and organic farming practices might be synergetic. The objective of this 3-year study was to propose a multivariate statistical and geostatistical approach, to evaluate the effects of SSP nitrogen (N) fertilization on durum wheat in transition to organic farming. Soil parameters were measured to assess soil fertility level before the SSP fertilization on wheat, which was carried out by management zones in the third year. Radiometric measurements were performed with a hyperspectral spectroradiometer and N-uptake at anthesis and grain yield were determined. The expected values and 95 % confidence intervals of the soil parameters, N-uptake and yield data were estimated with polygon kriging for each management zone. Reflectance data were reduced through principal component analysis and the retained principal components were submitted to factorial co-kriging analysis to estimate orthogonal scale-dependent factors. Comparisons between N-uptake and yield and between the retained regionalized factors (F1) and yield were performed. The spatial pattern of F1 at shorter scales was mostly reproduced in the N-uptake map, suggesting the predictive capacity of hyperspectral data for crop N-status. Within-cluster variance for yield was reduced, quite probably as a combined effect of meteorological pattern and management. The preliminary results seem to be promising in the perspective of PA. Moreover, an inverse relationship between grain yield and crop N-status was observed.  相似文献

Effective stock assessment relies on the evaluation of the reproductive potential of a population, but this is often achieved using fast, inexpensive, and inaccurate macroscopic indicators of gonadal maturity. Indeed, this approach suffers from high error rates as a result of misclassification and operator errors. Although histology is considered the gold standard to assign reproductive stages, it represents a time‐consuming and expensive method. Therefore, cost‐effective approaches are currently needed to assess the species‐specific reproductive potential and define the correct size at first maturity (L50).
  2. In the present study a histology‐calibrated method based on the gonadal index (GI) was developed to assign maturity stages to the overfished Mediterranean swordfish (Xiphias gladius), supported by histological classification of gonadal development, an estimation of L50, and an analysis of the reproductive output of this species.
  3. The performance of this new method had an overall agreement of 90% with histological data, and the L50 calculated by the GI‐based method compared with histology analysis was not statistically different (p > 0.05). Moreover, in order to apply this method without bias, a thorough validation of the relationship between length and gonad weight was carried out and the suitability of the GI to compare individuals of different size and maturity stages was confirmed.

The present findings provide a comprehensive picture of the patterns characterizing Mediterranean swordfish reproduction and a promising method to assign maturity stages based on a macroscopic indicator. This method has the potential to be extensively applied during routine fish sampling activities in the field because of its simple requirements.

Extracellular ATP mediates proinflammatory and antiproliferative effects via activation of P2 nucleotide receptors. In contrast, its metabolite, the nucleoside adenosine, is strongly immunosuppressive and enhances tumor proliferation and metastasis. The conversion of ATP to adenosine is catalyzed by ectonucleotidases, which are expressed on immune cells and typically upregulated on tumor cells. In the present study, we identified sulfopolysaccharides from brown and red sea algae to act as potent dual inhibitors of the main ATP-hydrolyzing ectoenzymes, ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase-1 (NPP1) and ecto-nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase-1 (NTPDase1, CD39), showing nano- to picomolar potency and displaying a non-competitive mechanism of inhibition. We showed that one of the sulfopolysaccharides tested as a representative example reduced adenosine formation at the surface of the human glioblastoma cell line U87 in a concentration-dependent manner. These natural products represent the most potent inhibitors of extracellular ATP hydrolysis known to date and have potential as novel therapeutics for the immunotherapy of cancer.  相似文献
