Anaesthetic sparing effect of local anaesthesia of the ovarian pedicle during ovariohysterectomy in dogs

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of local anaesthesia of the mesovarium on end-tidal isoflurane (Fe′_iso) concentration and vital parameters during canine ovariohysterectomy.Study designProspective, randomized, blinded study.AnimalsTwenty client-owned dogs undergoing elective ovariohysterectomy. Mean age 1.7 (±0.53, SD) years and mean body weight 21 kg (±5.9, SD).MethodsPre-medication was with intravenous acepromazine (0.02 mg kg⁻¹) and methadone (0.1 mg kg⁻¹). Anaesthesia was induced with propofol and maintained with isoflurane in oxygen. One group (n = 10) received local infiltration of the mesovarium with 0.5 mL lidocaine 2% and one group (n = 10) with 0.5 mL NaCl 0.9%. Heart (HR) and respiratory rates (fr), invasive mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) and Fe′_isowere recorded. The Fe′_iso was adjusted according to changes in HR, RR and MAP. Time points used for comparison were T1 (after induction of anaesthesia before surgery), T2 (after lidocaine infiltration of the mesovarium) and T3 (surgical manipulation of the ovaries). Data were analysed using a mixed model for repeated measurement anova and the Tukey adjustment. Results are presented as mean ± SD; p < 0.05 was considered significant.ResultsIn both groups, HR and fr remained stable at the three time points. Mean values ranged from 84 to 94 beats minute⁻¹ and from 10 to 14 breaths minute⁻¹. The Fe′_iso was significantly lower at T3 compared to T1 and mean values ranged from 0.95% to 1.24%. The mean arterial blood pressure was significantly higher at T3 compared to T1 and mean values ranged from 58 to 96 mm Hg. At none of the time points were there significant differences between the two groups for HR, fr, MAP or Fe′_iso.ConclusionNeither an isoflurane sparing effect nor a difference in autonomic response to surgery was demonstrated following local anaesthesia of the mesovarium.Clinical relevanceThere appeared to be minimal benefit from local anaesthesia of the mesovarium during this study.  相似文献

A 3-year-old, 920 g intact female guinea pig presented with a 4-month history of nonpruritic hair loss on the ventral abdomen. The physical examination revealed flank and ventral abdominal alopecia, mucoid vulvar discharge, and abdominal distension. Bilateral rounded masses just caudal to the kidneys and structures consistent with enlarged uterine horns were detected on abdominal palpation. Abdominal ultrasound revealed bilateral ovarian cysts, thickened uterine horns, and multiple circular hypoechoic and anechoic structures in the uterine wall. The patient underwent ovariohysterectomy. Gross examination of the uterus revealed a piece of hay in the left uterine horn. A final diagnosis was hormonally active ovarian follicular cysts, cystic endometrial hyperplasia, and purulent bacterial endometritis caused by Escherichia coli, Fusobacterium nucleatum, and Arthrobacter spp. Cystic endometrial hyperplasia is infrequently reported in guinea pigs, and this report describes an associated bacterial endometritis and uterine foreign body with concurrent ovarian cysts.  相似文献

Bolas spiders of the genus Mastophora are very uncommon orb-weaver spiders, famous for their unusual predatory behavior. Being strictly nocturnal and very cryptic, they are extremely difficult to reveal, which explains their rarity in world arachnological collections. After a recent finding of an adult female of Mastophora corpulenta Banks (one of especially rare representatives of the genus), a few egg cases of this species became available, which seem to be very different from those of more common spiders due to their unusual hardness and coloration. We characterized some spectral, structural, and mechanical properties of this unusual silk material, by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), 3D profilometer imaging, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). For comparison, similar studies were performed for egg cases of the Southern black widow Latrodectus mactans Fabricius, since spiders of the genus Latrodectus are known to produce silk fibers of comparable toughness. Some similarities were observed between the silks produced by Mastophora corpulenta and Latrodectus mactans in terms of the size and chemical composition of egg cases. At the same time, SEM imaging and AFM force characterization revealed striking differences between them, due to the fact that Mastophora egg cases, unlike those produced by more common Araneae species, includes a solid (fused) wall, lacking evident porous structure, which results in their outstanding stiffness and strength.  相似文献   

东方山羊豆GoGID基因表达载体构建及紫花苜蓿转化

根据已经克隆得到的东方山羊豆赤霉素受体(GoGID)基因,扩增编码区cDNA.以pBI121为基础载体,采用酶切连接法,构建植物超表达载体pBI121-GoGID.酶切鉴定表明:目的基因已经正确插入载体中,超表达载体构建成功.采用CaCl₂冻融法将重组载体转入农杆菌菌株中.以叶片为外植体,采用农杆菌介导的愈伤组织培养法,转化紫花苜蓿(Medicage sativa),得到抗性苗.对载体携带的nptⅡ基因、GUS基因进行PCR检测均成阳性,表明目的基因已成功导入紫花苜蓿基因组中.同时对转基因植株进行Southern-blot及RT-PCR检测,并均得到目的条带.本研究为进一步分析GoGID基因对紫花苜蓿生物量影响奠定了基础.  相似文献

根据已知EST片段结合RT-PCR和RACE技术,从东方山羊豆(Galega Orientalis)中克隆到一个水通道蛋白(AQP)基因,命名为GoAQP(GenBank登录号:HM 803185)。测序和生物信息学分析表明,此序列全长1258bp,开放读码框(ORF)870 bp,编码289个氨基酸。GoAQP包含MIP家族信号序列HINPAVT/SFG,高等植物PIP高度保守序列GGANXXXXGY和TGI/TNPARSL/FGAAI/VI/VF/YN。与拟南芥AQP基因家族的系统进化分析表明,GoAQP属于PIP1亚型AQP蛋白。Real-Time PCR检测结果表明,GoAQP基因在根中表达量最高,茎中表达量最少;且受NaCl和PEG胁迫表达上调,NaCl表达呈双峰分布。因此GoAQP基因可能参与了东方山羊豆耐盐性调控。同时成功构建超表达载体pCAMBIA-1302-GoAQP,为转基因验证基因功能创造了基础。  相似文献

Parties to the Kyoto Protocol and/or the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) are required to account for their direct human-induced carbon emissions and removals including those from forestry and other land use related activities. In most European countries, the forestry related greenhouse gas inventories are largely or exclusively based on converting tree volume data from national forest inventories to biomass using biomass conversion and expansion factors (BCEFs). However, country specific data for many species are often lacking, which considerably increases the uncertainties of the greenhouse gas inventories. The focus of this research was to develop, using internationally published datasets that cover a large geographical area, an extended set of generalized curves of such biomass expansion factors for several species or species groups by age, growing stock and site index.  相似文献
