Cypermethrin, quinalphos, endosulfan and methomyl were bioassayed against strains of Helicoverpa armigera collected from field crops in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, South India, during the 1989-90 and 1990-91 cropping seasons. In 1989, high levels of resistance to cypermethrin were recorded in strains from cotton in the cotton-growing regions of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and from pigeon pea near Hyderabad. There was no evidence for resistance to quinalphos or methomyl at that time. In 1990-91 sampling was more extensive and although tolerance to cypermethrin was lower than the previous season, the survey indicated that pyrethroid-resistant populations were present throughout much of Andhra Pradesh. Tolerance to quinalphos had increased slightly in 1990-91, while resistance to methomyl had increased substantially, particularly in the cotton-growing area of Guntur. Endosulfan tolerance had increased slightly compared to strains tested in 1986-88 in an earlier study. The geographic and temporal variations in severity of pyrethroid resistance in H. armigera in Andhra Pradesh are believed to arise because of dynamic interactions between local selection pressure and immigration of resistant and susceptible moths at certain times of the year. 相似文献

This paper discusses a procedure for calculating the degree of similarity between an input target molecule and each of the molecules in a database of 3D chemical structures. A mapping procedure is used to identify pairs of atoms, one from each of the molecules that are being compared, that lie at the centre of topographically similar volumes of 3D space. Experiments are reported to validate the significance of the similarities that result from the use of the procedure and to determine the effect on the calculated similarities of the structural representation that is used to characterise the molecules in a database. 相似文献

New routes to the title compounds, involving improved conditions for the cyclopropanation, and a new method of constructing the central three-carbon unit (based on the coupling of a Grignard reagent with an allylic acetate) give access to products for which the previously reported route was not satisfactory. For the new route, a synthesis of 5-bromo-2-fluoro-diphenyl ether was developed. Previously deduced relationships between structure and insecticidal activity apply for the new compounds: alkenes are generally more active than corresponding alkanes; substitution at the 3- or 4-position (but not the 2-) of the 1-aryl group can enhance activity. An on-demand, uniform droplet generator was used to apply 120 μm diameter drops of formulated permethrin either directly onto 3rd-instar Plutella xylostella, of two Ohio populations, or onto the abaxial surface of leaf discs (1-1000 drops cm?2) to which those larvae were subsequently exposed. Incorporating a fluorescent tracer (Saturn Yellow GT-17N) in the spray mixture confirmed that ?direct hit”? larvae had received a topical dose from a single droplet. There was little difference in the LC50/LD50 for either population of P. xylostella when 24 and 48 h mortality assessments from direct hits were compared, but the LD50 of Celeryville larvae was 6-8 times greater than that of Fremont larvae. Residual deposits of 120 μm drops containing approximately the LC50, based on the topical assays, revealed that a droplet density providing a dose per cm2 leaf surface of more than 1000 times the LD50 was required to cause median mortality. The efficiency of utilisation, based on the topical LD95 values, was 0.0006% and 0.072% for Fremont and Celeryville larvae, respectively. 相似文献
