Four isonitrogenous [30% crude protein (CP)] diets containing different gross energy levels (13.39, 16.74, 20.50 and 23.85 kJ g−1) were evaluated to determine the optimum energy for the Malawian tilapia Oreochromis shiranus. Each tank (120 L) was stocked with 18 juvenile tilapia (average weight 7.32±0.25 g) and they were fed the experimental diets for 10 weeks. The final average weight of the fish was approximately twofold higher (range: 12.64–16.77 g) than the initial weight. The dietary energy significantly (P<0.05) influenced growth. The average weight of fish fed dietary energy level 20.50 kJ g−1 was significantly higher (P<0.05) than the weight of the fish fed any of the other experimental diets. There was no significant difference in growth of fish fed 13.39 and 16.74 kJ g−1 energy levels, but 23.85 kJ g−1 produced the lowest growth rates. There were no significant differences (P>0.05) between feed intake across the treatments. Feed conversion ratio (range: 2.2–3.0) and protein efficiency ratio (range: 1.10–1.50) among the dietary treatment groups were in agreement with trends for weight gain. Dietary energy level significantly (P<0.05) influenced the body composition of O. shiranus. Whole‐body moisture (range: 64.27–67.15%) and ash (range: 13.21–14.73%) decreased in all treatments. Whole‐body protein (range: 63.57–66.16%) increased only in groups fed on the diet containing 20.50 kJ g−1. Whole‐body fat (range: 13.58–17.27%) and gross energy (range: 28.411–33.210 kJ g−1) increased significantly (P<0.05). Fish survival was 100% in all treatments. The results demonstrated that to maximize growth at a temperature of 23°C, O. shiranus should be fed diets containing 20.50 kJ g−1 gross energy. 相似文献

Suitability of pomegranate juice (PJ) alone or mixed with acetic acid versus acetic acid control solution, a traditional fish marinating media, was investigated in this research. With that purpose, rainbow trout fillets were marinated for 12 days at 4°C in one of three different marinating solutions: 100% acetic acid solution (AAS), 50% acetic acid/50% pomegranate juice solution (AAPJS), and 100% pomegranate juice solution (PJS). Moisture content and pH value of rainbow trout flesh decreased, whereas fat, protein, ash, and salt contents increased at the end of the marinating process for all treatments (p < 0.05). Fish flesh marinated in solution containing PJ had darker, more red and lower yellow color values due to migration of color components from the PJ (p < 0.01). Traditionally marinated fish flesh had the highest total free amino acid amount (p < 0.01) due to a higher level of proteolytic breakdown under the low pH condition, which could be seen on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis image. This treatment also had higher sensory scores than those of fish marinated in solution containing 50% or 100% PJ. In addition, fish marinated in AAPJS and PJS solution had firmer texture and sweeter taste compared to that of marinated in AAS. 相似文献

The plasma and synovial fluid pharmacokinetics and safety of cefquinome, a 2‐amino‐5‐thiazolyl cephalosporin, were determined after multiple intravenous administrations in sixteen healthy horses. Cefquinome was administered to each horse through a slow i.v. injection over 20 min at 1, 2, 4, and 6 mg/kg (n = 4 horses per dose) every 12 h for 7 days (a total of 13 injections). Serial blood and synovial fluid samples were collected during the 12 h after the administration of the first and last doses and were analyzed by a high‐performance liquid chromatography assay. The data were evaluated using noncompartmental pharmacokinetic analyses. The estimated plasma pharmacokinetic parameters were compared with the hypothetical minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values (0.125–2 μg/mL). The plasma and synovial fluid concentrations and area under the concentration–time curves (AUC) of cefquinome showed a dose‐dependent increase. After a first dose of cefquinome, the ranges for the mean plasma half‐life values (2.30–2.41 h), the mean residence time (1.77–2.25 h), the systemic clearance (158–241 mL/h/kg), and the volume of distribution at steady‐state (355–431 mL/kg) were consistent across dose levels and similar to those observed after multiple doses. Cefquinome did not accumulate after multiple doses. Cefquinome penetrated the synovial fluid with AUCsynovial fluid/AUCplasma ratios ranging from 0.57 to 1.37 after first and thirteenth doses, respectively. Cefquinome is well tolerated, with no adverse effects. The percentage of time for which the plasma concentrations were above the MIC was >45% for bacteria, with MIC values of ≤0.25, ≤0.5, and ≤1 μg/mL after the administration of 1, 2, and 4 or 6 mg/kg doses of CFQ at 12‐h intervals, respectively. Further studies are needed to determine the optimal dosage regimes in critically ill patients. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and diversity of bovine viral diarrhea viruses (BVDV) infecting cattle in Turkey. A total of 1124 bovine blood samples from 19 farms in 4 different Turkish regions were tested by antigen capture ELISA (ACE). BVDV antigen was found in 26 samples from 13 farms. Only 20 of the 26 initial test positive cattle were available for retesting. Of these, 6 of 20 tested positive for BVDV, by ACE and real-time RT-PCR, one month after initial testing. Phylogenetic analysis, based on comparison of the E2 or the 5'UTR coding regions, from 19 of the 26 initial positive samples, indicated that 17 belonged to the BVDV-1 genotype and 2 to the BVDV-2 genotype. Comparison of 5'UTR sequences segregated 8 BVDV-1 strains (strains 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, and 19) to the BVDV1f, 1 strain (strain 8) to the BVDV1i and 1 strain (strain 14) to the BVDV1d subgenotypes. One strain (strain 4) did not group with other subgenotypes but was closer to the BVDV1f. The remaining 6 BVDV-1 strains (strains 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, and 18) segregated to a novel subgenotype. The E2 sequence comparison results were similar, with the exception that strain 5 grouped with the novel subgenotype rather than BVDV1f subgenotype. It appears that among the diverse BVDV strains in circulation there may be a subgenotype that is unique to Turkey. This should be considered in the design of diagnostics and vaccines to be used in Turkey. 相似文献

1. The present study was conducted to determine if detrimental effects of high temperature on broiler performance could be overcome by short-term fasting and to examine the effect of food withdrawal on the responses of two commercial strains (S1 and S2). 2. An experimental design was used with three feeding groups and two strains. Birds in the control (C) group were fed ad libitum during the experimental period (0 to 6 weeks), while feed was withdrawn in the other groups between 10:00 and 16:00 h during weeks 5 and 6 (F1) or week 6 (F2), respectively. After standard brooding for the first 3 weeks temperature and humidity varied according to outside climate between 4 and 6 weeks of age. 3. Feeding strategy significantly affected body weight at week 6 (BW6) and daily weight gain during week 6 (DWG5-6). F2 gave the best results in BW6 and DWG5-6. Strain effect was significant on DWG4-5 and DWG5-6; S1 had higher DWG4-5 and S2 gained more at the last stage. S1C broilers had greater BW6 than S2C but the S2 strain gave a better response to short-term fasting compared with S1 and this resulted in significant strain by feeding interaction effect on BW6 and DWG5-6. 4. It was shown that short-term fasting was an effective method for controlling rectal temperature (RT) of broilers at 5 and 6 weeks of age. 5. Total food consumption (FCO-6), food conversion ratio (FCRO-6), mortality, and carcase characteristics were not affected by short-term fasting in the experimental conditions. 6. In conclusion, it can be recommended that broiler producers may practise 6 h of fasting during the hot period of the day without any adverse effect on slaughter weight and FCR when the birds are close to the average slaughter weight and a heat wave is expected. Strain differences in RT measurements also indicate the importance of choosing strains to be used in hot and warm climate conditions with attention to the thermoregulation ability of broilers. 相似文献

All pestiviruses are important veterinary pathogens causing economic losses in cattle, sheep, and pigs. In this study, blood
samples randomly collected from 465 sheep were analysed for the presence of antibodies to pestiviruses (bovine viral diarrhea
virus, border disease virus) using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in the province of Van and their towns. The seroprevalance
were estimated as 75.9% and 60.0–82.5% in the sampled animals and sampled towns, respectively. The results revealed that pestiviruses
are important abort pathogens in the province of Van and their towns. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the cardiotoxic potency of tulathromycin. Tulathromycin (10 mg/kg, SC) was administered to ten adult male rabbits, and blood samples were obtained before and after drug administration (0 and 6 hours). Serum cardiac damage markers (troponin I, creatine kinase-MB, myoglobin, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase), routine serum biochemical values (alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyltransferase, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, amylase, total protein, albumin, glucose, calcium, ionised calcium, sodium, potassium), white blood cell (WBC) and red blood cell (RBC) counts, arterial blood gas parameters (pH, partial carbon dioxide pressure, partial oxygen pressure, actual bicarbonate, standard bicarbonate, total carbon dioxide, base excess in vivo, base excess in vitro, oxygen saturation, packed cell volume, haemoglobin) and serum oxidative status (malondialdehyde, nitric oxide, superoxide dismutase, retinol, β-carotene) were measured. Increased levels of troponin I, creatine kinase-MB and creatinine, and decreased WBC counts, ionised calcium and potassium levels were observed after drug administration. Tulathromycin treatment may cause cardiotoxicity, but its effects may be less dramatic than those of other macrolide antibiotics frequently used in veterinary medicine. 相似文献
