White striping (WS), characterized by white striations on the Pectoralis major muscle, is an emerging problem for the broiler industry. Thus, the impact of WS on meat quality has become a current research topic. In this context, a 2‐year follow‐up study, to reveal the prevalence of WS in broiler integrations, was undertaken. Additionally, a laboratory experiment was conducted to determine the oxidative quality during storage and the differences in proximate composition, colour and fatty acid and amino acid profiles of broiler breast fillets scored visually as normal, moderate and severe. In integrations, the WS incidence increased with increasing broiler age and more than 50% of breast fillets obtained from 32‐ to 35‐day‐old broilers and 36‐ to 39‐day‐old broilers had stripes with different scores. Lower protein and higher fat contents were measured in the moderate and severe scored fillets than the normal fillets (p < 0.001). Severe score stripes induced the formation of less redness on the ventral surface (p < 0.05) and a darker colour on the dorsal surface (p < 0.01). The lowest histidine, arginine and tryptophan amounts were determined in severe fillets (p < 0.05). Moderate and severe scored fillets were rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids implying that they were sensitive to lipid oxidation. That suggestion was further proven by the higher TBARS values. Freeze‐thawing induced the formation of carbonyl compounds, but it did not cause differences in sulphydryl groups. Briefly, we suggest that different WS scores may affect the physicochemical and oxidative quality of breast fillets; however, more studies are needed to assert an accurate and explicit judgement.  相似文献

A full length cDNA of feline interleukin(IL)-12 p35 and p40 subunits was cloned. By transferring the plasmids containing both the subunit genes to mammalian cells, we expressed biologically active feline IL-12. The expressed feline IL-12 has interferon-gamma-inducing activity against both human and feline peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and stimulates cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity against herpes simplex virus-infected human PBMCs. There were two kinds of molecules (p75, p80) in the purified recombinant feline IL-12, and both molecules exhibited biological activity. The difference between p75 and p80 was the degree of the glycosylation of the p35 chain. Moreover, when we modified the cDNA of p35 by changing some codons and deleted the 5' and 3' non-coding regions, the expression level of IL-12 increased about 100 fold.  相似文献

DNA fingerprinting is a valuable tool for plant cultivar discrimination and identification. Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) markers represent an excellent option for obtaining DNA fingerprints of potatoes in an easy, fast, and reliable fashion. The highly polymorphic and co-dominant nature of SSRs gives them good discrimination power to declare the distinctiveness of new potato clones for Plant Variety Protection (PVP) and to properly identify existing cultivars. They are also useful for confirming origin and avoiding duplications and mixtures in breeding, foundation and certification programs, and also during growing and marketing stages. A total of 54 (50 tetraploid and 4 diploid) potato clones, including new cultivars released by the Pacific Northwest Tri-State Potato Variety Development Program and a set of common commercial cultivars, were analyzed using 25 SSR markers. Marketing classes (French fry processing, fresh market, and chip processing) were clearly separated using those markers. We have empirically selected a subset of six SSRs that differentiate all the potato varieties and clones present in the study. This subset of six SSR markers could be used for practical DNA fingerprinting. In order to declare distinctiveness, we recommend that common reference varieties always be genotyped together with the newly tested potato clones and that focus be placed on the relative allelic differences between the new clones and the reference varieties.  相似文献

The effect of four iso-nitrogenous and iso-lipidic diets containing soy lecithin and lysolecithin with fish oil (sardine) and palm oil on growth, digestibility, and fatty acid composition of tail muscle and non-muscle portions of tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon, was evaluated. Shrimp fed with lysolecithin diets had significantly (P?<?0.05) higher daily growth coefficient values (1.40–1.45% day?1) than those fed with soylecithin containing diets (1.32–1.37% day?1). Correspondingly, lysolecithin-supplemented diets showed significantly higher (P?<?0.05) apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of fatty acids with both the oils due to higher emulsification ability of small micelle forming by lysolecithin. However, there were no significant differences in survival and FCR among all treatments. The fatty acid composition of the test diets reflected to a certain extent in the fatty acid composition of the muscle and non-muscle portions of shrimp. Arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic acid contents of muscle and non-muscle portions of shrimp were significantly (P?<?0.05) higher in lysolecithin-supplemented diet compared to soylecithin-supplemented diet. The present results suggest that lysolecithin improved the fatty acid digestibility with its high emulsification properties that reflected in better performance by improving dietary value of palm oil.  相似文献
