To study the relationships and genetic diversity among wild hops, Humulus lupulus, we analyzed 133 samples of wild hops collected from Europe, Asia and North America using polymorphism on 11 microsatellite
loci. Although only three primers showed bands in Japanese hops, all other samples showed polymorphic bands at most loci.
There were no duplicate genotypes among samples of European, Chinese and North American hops, and each individual hop could
be distinguished completely. The phylogenetic tree constructed from DA distance with the UPGMA method showed a large cluster
comprised of European hops, although Russian hops from the Caucasus and Altai regions were separate from the European cluster.
Chinese and North American samples gave distinct clusters suggesting genetic differentiation. This study has indicated that
hop microsatellite DNA is differentiated, and is dependent upon the origin in regions of Europe, Asia and North America. 相似文献

There is suggestive evidence that a low status of ascorbic acid in camels enhances their risk for infectious diseases. This study was carried out to find clues as to the role of diet in affecting ascorbic acid status. In a crossover trial with feeding periods of 3 weeks each, six camels (Camelus dromedarius) were fed either a composite of their habitual diet or alfalfa. The simulated habitual diet contained grass (hummra), Acacia mellifera and Blepharis persica. The habitual diet significantly lowered ascorbic acid concentrations in plasma and leukocytes. It is concluded that camels kept on natural desert vegetation may not have optimal disease resistance due to a diet-induced low ascorbic acid status. 相似文献

The follicle-associated epithelium (FAE) of Peyer''s patches (PPs) contains M cells that are important for reducing mucosal immune responses by transporting antigens into the underlying lymphoid tissue. We generated a monoclonal antibody (C6) that reacted with the FAE of calf ileal PPs, and analyzed the characteristics of C6 using immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. FAE of the ileal PP was stained with C6 during both late fetal developmental and postnatal stages. Neither the villous epithelial cell nor intestinal crypt basal cells were stained at any developmental stage. During the prenatal stages, FAE of the jejunal PP was C6-negative. However, a few C6-positive cells were distributed diffusely in some FAE of the jejunal PPs during the postnatal stages. The protein molecular weight of the antigen recognized by C6 was approximately 45 kDa. These data show that C6 is useful for identifying the FAE in ileal PPs and further suggest that differentiation of the FAE in these areas is independent of external antigens. 相似文献

Limited information is available about the spatial distribution and evolution of Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei populations in North African countries, such as Morocco. Frequencies of virulence alleles in B. graminis populations are mainly driven by selection exerted by host resistance genes in addition to neutral processes such as migration and genetic drift. In Morocco, in contrast to Europe, there has been no systematic deployment of resistant cultivars, although some R genes are present in the traditional varieties. This is expected to result in the evolution of pathotypes with virulence to different R genes, and higher diversity in Morocco compared to Europe. To test this, we used 24 differential cultivars to characterise 72 isolates from Morocco in 2009. We assessed diversity and spatial structure of pathotypes and compared them to past isolates from the same area (collected in 1992). There was a high diversity of pathotypes. Isolates from 2009 were distinct from isolates from 1992, due to loss of virulence to Mla12, increased virulence to Mla8, Mla3 and Mlk1, and decreased virulence to Mla6, Ml(Ru2), Mlg and MlLa. Many virulences were different from those observed in European and Asian populations of B. graminis. At the spatial scale investigated, airborne dispersal and a lack of strong selection in the host population likely prevented the formation of population structure and allowed the accumulation of high isolate diversity. The evolution of novel and distinct pathotypes since 1992 is likely attributable to gene flow from Europe and selection by the host population in Morocco. 相似文献

We performed a 2-year microcosm study to assess the effectiveness of red mud, a by-product of bauxite processing, in stabilizing contaminated mine waste and agricultural soil. Our study used red mud from a long-term disposal area in Almásfüzit?, Hungary with a pH of 9.0. A 5% (by weight) red mud addition decreased the highly mobile, water-extractable amount of Cd and Zn by 57% and 87%, respectively, in the agricultural soil and by 73% and 79%, respectively, in the mine waste. In a laboratory lysimeter study, the addition of red mud reduced the concentration of Cd and Zn in the leachate by about two third of the original. The metal content of the leachate was below the Maximum Effect Based Quality Criteria for surface water as determined by a risk assessment in the metal-contaminated area of the Toka valley near Gyöngyösoroszi, Hungary. The addition of red mud did not increase the toxicity of the treated mine waste and soil and decreased the Cd and Zn uptake of Sinapis alba test plants by 18–29%. These results indicate that red mud applied to agricultural soil has no negative effects on plants and soil microbes and decreases the amounts of mobile metals, thus indicating its value for soil remediation. 相似文献

Development of artificial crayfish egg incubation is a milestone in intensive culture of crayfish as commercially important freshwater animals. This study evaluated experimental treatments combining continuous UV lighting, a non‐chemical antifungal treatment, with an initial formaldehyde bath for noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) eggs incubated in semi‐recirculating systems, which requires less than 1 per cent the amount of water necessary for conventional flow‐through systems. The one‐time administration of a pre‐incubation bath to reduce formaldehyde exposure was ineffective. Ultraviolet irradiation of recirculating water provided poor results (13.5% and 35.2% final survival rates to stage 2 juveniles) and led to deteriorating water quality. An inability of hatchlings to successfully moult and the occurrence of limb deformities was observed in UV‐treated groups, and juvenile mortality was found across all experimental treatments. 相似文献

Waste from fish cutting (heads, swim bladders, fins, skin, and bones) is a high-value technological raw material for obtaining substances and products with a wide range of properties. The possibility of using waste from cutting fish of the Gadidae family: the Alaska pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) and the Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus), processed in the coastal zone, is scientifically substantiated. In this work, a technology has been developed for processing accumulated waste from fish cutting in order to obtain fish gelatin, which is characterized by high protein content (more than 80.0%) and a full set of essential and nonessential amino acids. We studied the quality of fish gelatin obtained from wastes from cutting the fish of the Gadidae family. The possibility of using fish gelatin as a component of fish products is shown; the dose of its introduction into the fish products is substantiated. The data obtained made it possible to recommend the use of fish processing waste products as a gelling component and a source of amino acids in multicomponent food systems. 相似文献
