A demultiplexer is an electronic circuit designed to separate two or more combined signals. We report on a demultiplexer architecture for bridging from the submicrometer dimensions of lithographic patterning to the nanometer-scale dimensions that can be achieved through nanofabrication methods for the selective addressing of ultrahigh-density nanowire circuits. Order log2(N) large wires are required to address N nanowires, and the demultiplexer architecture is tolerant of low-precision manufacturing. This concept is experimentally demonstrated on submicrometer wires and on an array of 150 silicon nanowires patterned at nanowire widths of 13 nanometers and a pitch of 34 nanometers. 相似文献

SUMMARY Postprandial insulin and glucose concentrations were measured in 3 Arabian and 3 Thoroughbred foals at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months of age. Prefeeding serum Insulin concentrations were similar in foals at 1 day (25.9 ± 5.1 pmol/L), 1 week (32.4 ± 5.8 pmol/L), and 1 month (38.2 + 7.9 pmol/L), but had Increased significantly to 131.0 ± 20.2 pmol/L at 3 months of age (P < 0.05). There was significantly increased serum Insulin secretion after a feed In foals at 3 months of age (P < 0.05) when compared with that at younger ages. Prefeeding serum glucose concentrations ranged from 6.0 ± 0.7 mmol/L at 1 day, to 5.9 ± 0.9 mmol/L at 1 week, 4.9 ± 1.7 mmol/L at 1 month, and 4.4 ± 1.5 mmol/L at 3 months of age. There were lower postprandial glucose concentrations with advancing age. The rat hypothalamus contains thermally insensitive, normally sensisitive, and highly thermosensitive cells. The responses of thermosensitive neurons to microelectrophoretically applied acetylcholine, norepinephrine, and 5-hydroxy-tryptamine were the same in both rats and cats. The firing rate of warm-sensitive interneurons was accelerated by acetylcholine and inhibited by norepinephrine. The firing rate of cool-sensitive interneurons was accelerated by norepinephrine and, in one case, was inhibited by 5-hydroxytryptamine. Thermodetector cells were relatively insensitive to these amines, but were sensitive to current flow. The proinflammatory cytokine, interleukin-1, plays a prominent role in the inflammatory reactions that characterize numerous diseases. In this study, we examined the gene expression for bovine IL-1 ligands and receptors by bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (MNCs) and neutrophils (PMNs) in response to E. coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro. Gene expression of mRNA for IL-1alpha, IL-1beta, IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra), type 1 IL-1 receptor, type 2 IL-1 receptor, and IL-1 beta converting enzyme (ICE), were measured by a semi-quantitative RT-PCR technique. LPS had little effect on type 1 IL-1R expression in MNC, whereas, it strongly up-regulated type 1 IL-1R expression in PMNs. Co-incubation of PMNs with LPS and bovine recombinant IL-1beta had little additional effect on type 1 IL-1R expression. Incubation of MNCs with LPS resulted in up-regulation of IL-1beta, IL-1ra, and type 2 IL-1R, no change in IL-1alpha, and a decrease in ICE gene expression. Incubation of PMNs with LPS up-regulated IL-1beta gene expression, whereas, IL-1alpha, IL-1ra, type 2 IL-1R and ICE were unchanged. The effects of Arctotheca calendula (capeweed) on digestive function in the rumen, caecum and colon of sheep were studied. Three groups of 2-year-old Merino wethers were compared: 13 grazing capeweed-free pasture for 23 days; 8 fed 700 g of lucerne hay daily for 18 days, and 13 fed 6 kg of freshly cut capeweed (dry matter 11.3%) daily for 7 days. Capeweed did not cause diarrhoea and based on measurements of products of fermentation in the rumen, the plants were as nutritious as pasture containing grasses and clovers. The main disadvantage of capeweed in this single feeding trial was that sheep eating it lost body weight due to their inability, or lack of incentive, to consume enough dry matter. 相似文献
