Horses with Hereditary Multiple Exostosis (HME) and control horses had a diploid chromosome number of 64 and a karyotype which contained 13 pairs of biarmed and 18 pairs of acrocentric autosomes. The female horse had two large biarmed X's and the male a biarmed X and a small acrocentric Y. There were no differences in high resolution G-band patterns, C-bands or NORs between control and HME affected horses. HME is most likely the result of a gene effect.  相似文献

Lacunarity indices as measures of landscape texture   总被引:23,自引:0,他引:23
Lacunarity analysis is a multi-scaled method of determining the texture associated with patterns of spatial dispersion (i.e., habitat types or species locations) for one-, two-, and three-dimensional data. Lacunarity provides a parsimonious analysis of the overall fraction of a map or transect covered by the attribute of interest, the degree of contagion, the presence of self-similarity, the presence and scale of randomness, and the existence of hierarchical structure. For self-similar patterns, it can be used to determine the fractal dimension. The method is easily implemented on the computer and provides readily interpretable graphic results. Differences in pattern can be detected even among very sparsely occupied maps.  相似文献

The effects of various organochlorine pesticides on salmon and trout brain ATPases were investigated. Organochlorines reduced the enzyme activity to various degrees, but only at concentrations which exceeded their solubility limits. When organochlorine precipitation was prevented by introduction of a surfactant, the reduction in enzyme activity was usually abolished.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of blood contamination of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) on the results of indirect fluorescent antibody tests (IFATs) for Sarcocystis neurona and Neospora hughesi. The in vitro study used antibody-negative CSF collected from non-neurologic horses immediately after euthanasia and blood samples from 40 healthy horses that had a range of IFAT antibody titers against S. neurona and N. hughesi. Serial dilutions of whole blood were made in seronegative CSF to generate blood-contaminated CSF with red blood cell (RBC) concentrations ranging from 10 to 100,000 RBCs/microl. The blood-contaminated CSF samples were then tested for antibodies against both pathogens using IFAT. Blood contamination of CSF had no detectable effect on IFAT results for S. neurona or N. hughesi at any serologic titer when the RBC concentration in CSF was <10,000 RBCs/microl. At concentrations of 10,000-100,000 RBCs/microl of CSF, positive CSF results (IFAT titer >or=5) for S. neurona and N. hughesi were detected only when the corresponding serum titers were >or=160 and >or=80, respectively. The IFAT performed on CSF is reliable for testing horses for equine protozoal myeloencephalitis caused by S. neurona or N. hughesi, even when blood contamination causes the RBC concentration in CSF to be up to 10,000 RBCs/microl.  相似文献
