The objective of this study was to analyze the water budget of a small basin in the northern of Loess Plateau. A small basin, Liudaogou in the northern Loess Plateau was chosen as the study area. The numerical calculation of surface runoff was applied to results of the field survey, and components of monthly water budget were estimated. The unit area of 1 km2 was selected as the index area for the estimation. A component of habitant water consumption was added to the water budget to consider the contribution of human activity. Results indicated that the water storage was negative in May, June and July while the annual amount was approximately 0.0. Evaportanspiration attained maximum in August and its annual total accounted for 74.2% of annual precipitation. Results of this study are significant for the sustainable water conservation and utilization in the northern of Loess Plateau where annual water resources are relatively deficient. 相似文献

Changes in crustacean hyperglycemic hormone (CHH)-family peptides in response to stress were investigated in Litopenaeus vannamei. Stress treatments consisted of air exposure and low salinity. High-performance liquid chromatography was used to quantify CHH-family peptides in the X-organ?Csinus gland complex (XO?CSG) in the eyestalks. Among the CHH-family peptides analyzed, only the level of sinus gland peptide-G (SGP-G) in the XO?CSG was decreased. SGP-G was also detectable by Western blotting analysis in the hemolymph of animals subjected to stress. These results suggest that SGP-G was secreted from the XO?CSG into the hemolymph during stress. Glucose levels in the hemolymph increased under conditions during which SGP-G was detected in the hemolymph. Hyperglycemia was also observed when SGP-G was injected. The objectives of this study were to survey clinics’ guidance about recommended
fasting duration (FD) prior to lipoprotein analysis, and to characterize lipoprotein
cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in obese and overweight dogs categorized on
the basis of the 5-point body condition score (BCS) scale. A dataset was created from
lipoprotein analysis medical records of 1,538 dogs from 75 breeds in 354 clinics from 2012
to 2013. A phone survey was conducted to obtain the clinics’ FD. Two-level linear
mixed-effects models were applied to the data. Over 50% of the clinics said they
recommended fasting for 12 hr or more. Dogs in clinics with FD 12 hr or more had lower
chylomicron triglyceride concentrations than those in clinics with FD less than 8 hr
(P=0.05). Mean (± SEM) BCS at sampling was 3.7 ± 0.02. Obese and
overweight dogs had higher very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and high density
lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations than ideal dogs
(P<0.05), but no such difference was found for low density
lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations (P≥0.07). Across
all BCS, as dog age rose from 0 to 8 years old, HDL cholesterol concentrations decreased
by 13.5 mg/dl, whereas VLDL triglyceride concentrations increased by 81.7
mg/dl (P<0.05). In conclusion, FD of 8 hr or less
may affect lipoprotein lipid concentrations. Obese and overweight dogs were characterized
as having high VLDL and HDL cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations. 相似文献

The water deer (Hydropotes inermis) has conventionally been classified
into two subspecies according to geographic distribution and pelage color pattern:
H. i. inermis from China and H. i. argyropus from
Korea. However, the results of a recent molecular study have called this into question. To
further reappraise this classification, we examined morphological variation in
craniodental measurements of these 2 subspecies. Results of univariate and multivariate
analyses demonstrated that these 2 subspecies are not well-differentiated, suggesting that
individuals of the 2 populations share common morphological traits. Despite the
distribution of the subspecies at different latitudes, no clear morphocline was detected,
suggesting that Bergmann’s rule does not apply in this case. Discriminant analysis
indicated that the characteristics of individuals are shared by both populations,
suggesting that not all individuals can be assigned to their original population. Results
of principal component analysis showed that the two populations shared more than 75% of
individuals, congruent with the “75% rule” of subspecies classification. In both the
neighbor-joining and unweighted pair group methods with arithmetic mean cluster analyses,
specimens of H. i. argyropus and H. i. inermis were
highly mixed within the cladograms. These results suggest that the overall morphological
variation in the 2 subspecies overlaps considerably and that there is no coherent
craniofacial difference between the 2 groups. The present findings combined with prior
observations from molecular biogeography point out that the taxonomic division of water

A three-dimensional internal structure microscopy (3D-ISM) can clarify the anatomical
arrangement of internal structures of equine ovaries. In this study, morphological changes
of the equine ovary over the first 12 months of life were investigated by 3D-ISM in 59
fillies and by histological analysis in 2 fillies. The weight and volume of the paired
ovaries initially decreased from 0 to 1 months to 2 to 3 months of age and then
significantly increased at 8 to 12 months of age. The ovulation fossa was first observed
around the 3rd month and became evident after the 6th month. The number of follicles with
a diameter of ≥10 mm and the diameter of the largest follicle increased gradually after 6
months of age. On a volume basis, the medulla accounted for nearly 90% of the whole ovary
at 0 to 1 months of age, but significantly decreased from 2 to 3 months of age. The volume
of the cortex increased progressively after birth and reached approximately 60% of the
total volume at 8 to 12 months of age. This significant development of the cortex
coincided with the increased number and size of large follicles observed from 6 months of
age. These results suggest that the development of the cortex plays a role in the
maturation of the follicles and the equine ovary undergoes substantial morphological

The human CD20 antigen, a 35kDa cell surface nonglycosylated hydrophobic phoshpoprotein is expressed consistently on almost all human B-cells, and its monoclonal antibody is used for the therapy on human B-cell lymphoma. In the present study, canine CD20 gene was cloned and sequenced, and the expression of CD20 mRNA was investigated in canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), and lymph nodes from healthy dogs, and canine lymphoma cells. Using canine cDNA as a template, full-length of canine CD20 gene was sequenced by 5'-RACE and 3'-RACE methods. The full-length of the cDNA sequence of canine CD20 was 1239bp encoding 297 amino acids. The amino acid sequences of canine CD20 showed 73 and 68% sequence similarities with those of human and mouse, respectively. Canine CD20 was predicted to contain domains of amino acid sequences consisting of two extracellular domains (EM), four transmembrane domains (TM), and three intracellular domains (IC) as in human CD20. Canine CD20 mRNA was detected in PBMCs and lymph node from healthy dogs, and B-cells of canine lymphoma, but not in T-cell lymphoma cells and non-T and non-B-cell lymphoma cells by RT-PCR analysis. From these results, canine CD20 might be targeted for monoclonal antibody therapy against B-cell lymphoma of dogs. 相似文献

A species of sucking louse, Neohaematopinus callosciuri, was found for the first time in Japan. The species was found on an invasive species of squirrel, Pallas squirrel, Callosciurus erythraeus, in the Kamakura district, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. A total of 52 lice were obtained from 22 of 104 squirrels captured. The lice were about three times more prevalent in male squirrels than in females and were detected most frequently in the winter. As N. callosciuri has never been reported on wild animals in Japan, this species probably was introduced into Japan along with their host, Pallas squirrels. 相似文献
