Mouse monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), raised against the NaOH-extracted antigen of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae strain Kyoto (serovar 2), recognized two different epitopes on a single protein of molecular weight 67 kDa. The MAbs were classified as protective or non-protective against strain Fujisawa (serovar 1). In immunoblotting analysis using the MAbs, fifteen wild strains were shown to contain different amounts of 67 kDa protective antigen. Each formalin-killed whole cell vaccine (bacterin) prepared from the fifteen wild strains conferred different levels of protection against strain Fujisawa in mice. Bacterins prepared from wild strains with larger amounts of 67 kDa protective antigen tended to give high levels of antigen-specific antibody and better protection to mice. These results indicate that the amount of 67 kDa protective antigen which influences the induction of protective immune responses may vary substantially among the strains of E. rhusiopathiae (serovar 2).  相似文献

A deterministic simulation model was developed to estimate biological production efficiency and to evaluate goat crossbreeding systems under tropical conditions. The model involves 5 production systems: pure indigenous, first filial generations (F1), backcross (BC), composite breeds of F1 (CMP(F1)), and BC (CMP(BC)). The model first simulates growth, reproduction, lactation, and energy intakes of a doe and a kid on a 1-d time step at the individual level and thereafter the outputs are integrated into the herd dynamics program. The ability of the model to simulate individual performances was tested under a base situation. The simulation results represented daily BW changes, ME requirements, and milk yield and the estimates were within the range of published data. Two conventional goat production scenarios (an intensive milk production scenario and an integrated goat and oil palm production scenario) in Malaysia were examined. The simulation results of the intensive milk production scenario showed the greater production efficiency of the CMP(BC) and CMP(F1) systems and decreased production efficiency of the F1 and BC systems. The results of the integrated goat and oil palm production scenario showed that the production efficiency and stocking rate were greater for the indigenous goats than for the crossbreeding systems.  相似文献

The intervals from oviposition to the next ovulation and the times spent by the ovum in various parts of the oviduct were examined, in hens selected for increased rate of lay over 5 generations under a 23 h light-dark cycle (23HS line) and kept in a 22 h light-dark cycle, and in hens selected under a 24 h light-dark cycle (24HS line) and kept in a 24 h light-dark environment. 2. The intervals from oviposition to the next ovulation were 13 min and 25 min in the 23HS and 24HS lines respectively. Times from ovulation to entry of the ovum into the uterus were 4 h 44 min and 4 h 43 min in the 23HS and 24HS lines respectively, and times spent by the ovum in the uterus were 19 h and 19 h 24 min in the 23HS and 24HS lines respectively. 3. It is concluded that the reduced oviposition interval in the 23HS line compared to the 24HS line was caused by the reduction in the interval from oviposition to the next ovulation and the time spent by the ovum in the uterus.  相似文献

A 110-week-old male F344 rat from the high-dose group of a 104-week carcinogenicity study, exhibited a spontaneously occurring subcutaneous mass in the left axilla extending to the chest. Histologically, the mass was well-demarcated from the adjacent mammary tissue and slightly encapsulated without evidence of infiltration into the surrounding tissues. The mass contained both epithelial and adipose components. The epithelial component consisted of ductal structures of various sizes lined by a single layer of flattened to cuboidal epithelial cells with relatively clear or vacuolated cytoplasm. These ductal structures were well-intermingled with an adipose component that consisted of a uniform monomorphic cell population of mature adipocytes. Both cell types were well-differentiated and did not exhibit cellular atypia. Within the mass, fibrous connective tissue was found in the stroma with infiltration of numerous mast cells. Based on these findings, the mass was diagnosed as an adenolipoma of the mammary gland.  相似文献

We analyzed data from 28 long-term experimental monitoring plots installed in Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) plantations in northeastern Japan to examine how site productivity and thinning practices relate to culmination in stand growth. Site productivity and thinning practices in the plots were evaluated by site index (dominant tree height at 40-years old) and by cumulative thinning rate (cumulative thinning volume divided by cumulative gross production during the entire period of measurement). Culmination of stand growth was evaluated by culmination age of the mean annual increment (MAI) and its maximum value (Max MAI). Max MAI for the mean annual gross increment (MAIgross) and mean annual net increment (MAInet) increased with increasing site index, but did not change with cumulative thinning rate. Culmination age for MAIgross decreased with increasing site index, but did not change with cumulative thinning rate. Culmination age for MAInet decreased with increasing site index. Additionally, culmination age for MAInet increased with increasing cumulative thinning rate in sites with a high site index (>19.3 m) but not in those with a low site index (<19.3 m). These results indicate that thinning extends the culmination age without changing Max MAInet under high site productivity. Therefore, thinning increases total net yield in sites with high productivity based on a long-term perspective.  相似文献
