Summary Inheritance of downy mildew (Peronospora parasitica) resistance in three resistant x susceptible crosses, one susceptible x susceptible and one resistant x resistant cross were studied in Indian cauliflower (Group III) over the two years (1990 and 1991). No significant difference was observed between the years for various estimates and hence pooled data are presented. Downy mildew resistance in crosses cc×HR 5-4 and 3-5-1-1×244 (R×S) is governed by single dominant gene PPA3 but in cross cc×244 (R×S), recessive epistasis was observed. The resistance level was not improved in both the cc×3-5-1-1 (R×R) and 244×267-6-9 (S×S) crosses. Exploitation of downy mildew resistance from cc and 3-5-1-1 in F₁ hybrid is explained in detail.  相似文献

Influence of Early and Delayed Transplantation of Paddy on Physicochemical,Pasting, Cooking,Textural, and Protein Characteristics of Milled Rice

Milled rice of four indica cultivars (PR114, PR116, PR118, and PAU201) obtained from early (June 5 and 15) and delayed (June 25 and July 5) transplanted paddy was evaluated for physicochemical, pasting, cooking, and protein characteristics. During the grain‐filling and development stage, early transplanted paddy experienced average maximum and minimum temperatures of 32.8 and 22.3°C, respectively, against 30.8 and 15°C, respectively, for delayed transplanted paddy. Lightness (L*) value, protein content, and lipid content of milled rice were lower, whereas apparent amylose content, cooked grain hardness, final viscosity, and setback viscosity were higher in the delayed transplanted paddy. Whiteness of milled rice of PR114, PR116, and PR118 from delayed transplanted paddy was lower than milled rice from early transplanted paddy. PAU201 did not show any change in whiteness with delayed transplantation. Cooked rice of PAU201 showed exceptionally higher adhesiveness and lower hardness compared with other cultivars. Protein profiling showed a lower accumulation of prolamines in milled rice from PR114 and PAU201 upon delaying the transplantation from June 5 to July 5, whereas PR116 and PR118 showed a decrease in prolamine accumulation from transplantation on June 25. The changes in milled rice caused by delayed transplanting of paddy might be because of cool nighttime air temperature that affected the accumulation of starch, protein, and lipid.  相似文献

Use of Bone Plate for Treatment of an Open Third Metacarpal Fracture in a Foal

A 7-month-old, 180-kg, female foal was presented with open diaphyseal fracture of the left third metacarpal bone. The fractured limb was stabilized preoperatively with external coaptation. Open reduction and internal fixation were done using 4.5-mm broad dynamic compression plate, which was applied in a neutralization manner. Postoperatively, external support with padded bandage reinforced with gutter splint made of fiber glass was provided. The incisional infection and the contaminated wound on medial aspect of the metacarpal were managed with regular dressing. Complete radiographic union and functional recovery were noticed by 4 months postoperatively. Open diaphyseal fractures can be managed by proper preoperative fracture stabilization, wound management, and fixation methods using bone plate and external coaptation.  相似文献

This is the first report of a metallic foreign body in the spleen of a dog. The animal had abdominal discomfort with a tucked-up abdomen and occasional vomition. Radiography and ultrasonography were used to identify a splenic foreign body which was surgically removed through a ventral midline celiotomy. Migration of the foreign body through the stomach wall was suspected as the most likely cause.  相似文献

Chlamydien Gruppentantigen: Seine Herstellung und Anwendung in der Komplementbindungsreaktion zur Messung des Antikörpergehalts in Tieren gegen die Chlamydiengruppe Ein hochwirksames, ätherextrahiertes Gruppenantigen (Titer 1:256) wurde hergestellt. Benutzt wurde Stamm Bour von Chlamydia Trachomatis. Bei dieser Technik werden nur solche Einrichtungen benötigt, wie sie in jedem Routinelabor zu finden sind. Insgesamt wurden 886 Seren von gesund erscheinenden Rindern, Büffeln, Schafen und Ziegen (etwa 200 Stück pro Tierart) mit Hilfe der KBR gegen das Chlamydien-Gruppenantigen getestet. Serologisch positiv reagierten 53% der Rinder, 44% der Büffel, 52,9% der Ziegen und 38% der Schafe. Es wurden Titer zwischen 1:4 und 1:64 beobachtet. Die Verbreitung der Gruppen-Antikörper bei diesen Tieren, die keine offensichtliche Erkrankung zeigen, wird diskutiert.  相似文献

Experimental toxoplasmosis in buffalo calves

Eight buffalo calves were inoculated with infectious oocysts of a virulent strain of Toxoplasma gondii, five with 1 × 10⁵, and the other three with 5 × 10⁵ oocysts each while two more were kept as non-inoculated controls. Infected animals developed pyrexia, anorexia, conjunctivitis and dyspnoea. The clinical symptoms, haematological changes and serological response were of a low order. The appearance of haemagglutinating antibodies at significant levels (? 1:64) was first observed at 21 days after inoculation (DAI), peaked at 42 DAI and rapidly declined after 63 DAI. The inoculated calves were killed (or died) at intervals from 11 DAI to 110 DAI. The organism could be recovered from several times of a calf that died 11 DAI, but was rapidly removed subsequently. Only the lymph nodes were infective till 32 DAI. Parasitism of the retina was demonstrated in one calf. The significance of these findings is discussed.  相似文献
