A young cat clinically displaying marked ascites had multiple nodule hyperplasia in the liver. One of the nodules sampled at exploratory laparotomy was studied histopathologically. The nodule consisted mainly of hyperplastic hepatocytes with a central stellate scarlike connective tissue. The connective tissue had thick-walled blood vessels and radiating bands of fibrous connective tissue extending peripherally, dividing the nodule into pseudolobules. The lesions resembled focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) in man. Serial section revealed a single large artery with the splitting of the internal elastic lamina running into the central connective tissue and branching to connect with the main vessels. The arterial branchings formed a spider-like structure. From these findings, it was suggested that the nodule had developed from a hepatic response to pre-existing vascular anomalies as had been reported in human FNH. 相似文献

A seven-year-old crossbred male dog with a suspected leukaemic condition was referred for investigation and treatment. A bone marrow aspirate revealed an acute myeloid leukaemia. Combination chemotherapy was administered and the dog initially improved, but 18 days after the initiation of therapy its body condition deteriorated and the animal developed acute respiratory distress. Neospora caninum (BT-2 strain) that originated from the brain of a Holstein calf was serially passaged through 10 generations of BALB/c nude mice by intraperitoneal inoculation. Histological examination of the mice revealed that numerous clusters of tachyzoites appeared in the pancreas, stomach and small intestine as well as in the central nervous system (CNS) and skeletal muscles. Intestinal contents of the infected mice were inoculated intraperitoneally into uninfected nude mice and 3 of the 17 inoculated mice showed clinical signs at post inoculation days 3 to 10. The present experiments demonstrated a proliferation of N. caninum tachyzoites in the mucosa of the alimentary tract and pancreas of the nude mice and the intestinal contents of the mice were infective to other nude mice. 相似文献

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a crucial role in metastasis of epithelial tumors; however, it is challenging to detect EMT by cytology. In the present study, EMT was visualized by fluorescence-immunocytochemistry (FICC). Air-dried smears from epithelial tumors of dogs (n=22) and cats (n=9) were stained using mouse monoclonal anti-E-cadherin and rabbit monoclonal anti‐vimentin antibodies. Enzymatic immunohistochemistry (IHC) revealed that 51.6% (8/22 in dogs, 8/9 in cats) of the cases showed EMT. In dogs, FICC could detect EMT in 62.5% (5/8) of those cases. In cats, FICC could detect EMT in 100% (8/8) of the cases. In conclusion, the present FICC method could successfully detect EMT using conventional air-dried cytology smear slides. 相似文献

Amination of alkanes has generally required metal catalysts and/or high temperatures. Here we report that simple exposure of a broad range of alkanes to N-triflylimino-λ(3)-bromane 1 at ambient temperature results in C-H insertion of the nitrogen functionality to afford triflyl-substituted amines in moderate to high yields. Marked selectivity for tertiary over secondary C-H bonds was observed; primary (methyl) C-H bonds were inert. Addition of hexafluoroisopropanol to inhibit decomposition of 1 dramatically improved the C-H amination efficiencies. Second-order kinetics, activation parameters (negative activation entropy), deuterium isotope effects, and theoretical calculations suggest a concerted asynchronous bimolecular transition state for the metal-free C-H amination event. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Enzymatic and structural properties of white croaker fast skeletal muscle myosin were determined and compared with those of walleye pollack counterpart. Ca2+ -ATPase activity of white croaker myosin was decreased to approximately 70% of the original activity during 1 day of storage at 0°C and pH 7.0 in 0.5 M KCl and 0.1 mM dithiothreitol, whereas that of walleye pollack was decreased to approximately 20% under the same condition. The activation energy ( E a ) for inactivation of white croaker myosin calculated by the Arrhenius plot for inactivation rate constant (KD ) was 1.2-fold higher than that of walleye pollack. While Ca2+ -ATPase showed a similar KCl-dependency for the two species, the maximal activity was observed at pH 6.2 and 6.3 for white croaker and walleye pollack, respectively. Actin-activated myosin Mg2+ -ATPase activity of white croaker was approximately half that of walleye pollack at 0.05 M KCl and pH 7.0, although the two myosins showed a similar affinity to F-actin with K m of 1.7 and 1.4, respectively. Limited proteolysis with α-chymotrypsin cleaved heat-denatured white croaker myosin mainly at heavy meromyosin/light meromyosin (HMM/LMM) junction, whereas walleye pollack myosin was cleaved at several sites in LMM as well as at the HMM/LMM junction. 相似文献
