Groups of chicks were infected with a virulent strain of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) and treated with either danofloxacin or tylosin while one infected group was left untreated and a further group was uninfected and untreated. Control of
clinical signs and mortality was better with danofloxacin than tylosin and there
was significantly (P <0.05)greater weight gain with danofloxacin at 21 days
after infection. However ht necropsy the prevalence of lesions of the airsac walls

Objective: To investigate the relative efficacy and safety of the anthelmintic naphthalophos in sheep, either given alone or in combination with benzimidazole (fenbendazole and albendazole) or levamisole anthelmintics.
Design: A parasitological study using faecal egg count reduction tests, a validating slaughter trial and field safety trials.
Procedure: Faecal egg count reduction tests were carried out on 13 farms. Naphthalophos and combinations of naphthalophos with levamisole and fenbendazole were included in the drench tests. On one property a controlled efficacy study was carried out to validate faecal egg count reduction test findings. In this trial, sheep were slaughtered 10 days after treatment and the remaining parasites recovered from the gastro-intestinal tract. Safety trials were carried out on eight farms where approximately 50 000 sheep were treated with naphthalophos and albendazole that were tank mixed in the backpack.
Results: The efficacy of naphthalophos alone in faecal egg count reduction tests ranged from 59 to 98% with one test showing 95% reduction. The efficacy of naphthalophos and levamisole ranged from 74 to 100%, with 5 farms showing 95% reduction. The efficacy of naphthalophos and fenbendazole ranged between 88 and 100% with 95% reduction achieved on 10 farms. The controlled efficacy study showed a good correlation between the faecal egg count reduction tests and numbers of parasites recovered, except for Nematodirus where the faecal egg count reduction tests overestimated efficacy. The mortality rate in the safety trials was 0.05%, with most fatalities occurring on one farm.
Conclusion: The combination of naphthalophos and fenbendazole was more effective than a combination of naphthalophos and levamisole, and will provide a sufficiently safe drench rotation option. 相似文献

Some properties of a virus-like agent found in Brachypodium sylvaticum in the United Kingdom 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
A spherical virus–like agent ($$32 nm in diameter) was isolated from a plant of Brachypodium sylvaticum (Huds.) Beauv. growing in a botanic garden in England and showing yellow streaks in the leaves. The agent was readily purified and sedimented as a single component in sucrose density rate gradients. The particles had a sedimentation coefficient at infinite dilution of $$122S and a buoyant density of 1.35 g/cm3 in CsCl and 1·33 in CS2 SO4 . The particles were stable at acid pH but above pH 7·0 in the presence of EDTA dissociated. A protein having a major polypeptide with a molecular weight of $$3·76 × 104 and a species of single stranded RN A with a MW of 1·67 × 106 were detected in the particles. The agent was not transmitted by manual inoculation, by the insects Myzus persicae Sulzer, Rhopalosiphum padi L. or Nephotettix virescens Distant, through soil by leakage from roots or by seed. The particles had physicochemical properties in common with tombus– and sobemoviruses but were not serologically related to 10 members of these groups or to 57 other small spherical RNA plant viruses. 相似文献

192 sites covering the main soil types in Northern Ireland were analysed for numbers and effectiveness of clover and Lotus rhizobia, and chemical properties. Peat sites were generally highly acid (pH <5.5) and mineral sites near neutral (pH 5.5–7.8). Clover rhizobia were generally absent from peat sites and present in mineral sites as large populations (> 106 g?1 dry soil). 79% of isolates were effective on T. repens var. Grasslands Huia. Lotus rhizobia were generally absent from peat sites, less often present than clover rhizobia in mineral sites, and as smaller populations. They were mainly effective on L. pedunculatus var. G4705 and were all of the slow-growing type belonging to the genus Bradyrhizobium. Numbers of clover rhizobia were significantly correlated with soil pH, exchangeable Ca, base saturation and Al saturation, but effectiveness of clover rhizobia and numbers of Lotus rhizobia were not correlated with any soil chemical property. 相似文献

为探讨资源型城市大庆市草地退化驱动机制,找出驱动草地退化的主导因素,为科学保护现有草地资源和有效治理退化草地提供依据和参考.该文在定性描述大庆地区草地退化驱动因素的基础上,运用主成分分析和多元线性回归的方法,选取与草地退化密切相关并比较容易获取的数据作为变量,对大庆地区草地退化的主要影响因素进行了定量分析.根据对草地退化的影响程度,影响因子排序为:畜牧业产值>人口密度>油井个数>总人口>大牲畜存栏>人均居住面积>GDP>工业产值>盐碱、沙化.并且根据大庆地区1988—2001年不同退化程度草地的面积与驱动因子建立多元线性回归模型,对不同退化程度草地面积变化的驱动机制进行了分析.结果表明,不合理的人类活动与石油开采加工的工业化进程占用大量草场是大庆地区草地退化的主要驱动因素,决定着草地生态系统逆向演替的总体趋势.最后根据以上分析提出大庆地区草地退化的防治措施. 相似文献
