Aspergillus fungal infections continue to be a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in birds that can, in part, be attributed to the lack of a diagnostic “gold standard” for Aspergillus infection, and which delays the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of avian patients. At present, none of the available methods in veterinary care can detect aspergillosis early enough and with the accuracy, precision, and specificity required of an ideal diagnostic tool. Therefore, researching methods of Aspergillus detection is still an active area of inquiry, and novel techniques continue to emerge. This review will provide a brief overview of current clinical methods, with an emphasis on avian care, in addition to a series of techniques in development that could offer distinct advantages over existing methods.  相似文献

Shape ontogeny of Diplodus puntazzo was studied during the larval and metamorphosis phase (2.6–33.0 mm total length (TL)) by means of geometric morphometrics. Additionally, shape comparison was performed between newly settled wild individuals of D. puntazzo (11.0–18.0 mm TL) and reared of the same TL range. Results clearly demonstrated that shape ontogeny of D. puntazzo is not continuous during the studied period, but it is characterized by the presence of two inflection points (at 6.2 and 11.4 mm TL), which define three phases of significantly different rates of shape development (P<0.05). Spline diagrams demonstrated that shape ontogeny mainly correlated with the development of fins, caudal peduncle, snoot and the ventral abdominal profile. Concerning the comparison of reared fish with wild fish, morphometric analysis revealed a significant effect of fish origin on the shape of D. puntazzo (Wilks' λ=0.147, P<0.001). Shape differences between the two populations were mainly demonstrated at the caudal peduncle and at the ventral profile of the abdominal area. Combined with the results of shape ontogeny, spline diagrams showed that shape differences between the two populations were related to the comparatively more advanced ontogenetic state of reared fish, at the studied size range.  相似文献

The foliar status and the factors affecting the foliar chemistry in a natural Aleppo pine forest grown on calcareous soils in Greece were examined. It was found that the Aleppo pine needles had significantly higher calcium (Ca) concentrations, but significantly lower concentrations of magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) than the respective average concentrations of natural Aleppo pine forests in Spain. It was also found that only foliar Ca and Mn had a significant correlation with the exchangeable Ca and available Mn in soils, respectively. Principal component analysis showed that the nature of the calcareous parent material, (colluvial rocks and hard limestones) were the main factors affecting both foliar and soil chemistry. This finding is important as colluvial soils always coexist with other soil types in hilly and mountainous regions containing calcareous material.  相似文献
