This report describes the diagnosis and treatment of vulvar papillomatosis with carcinoma in situ in a 25‐year‐old mare. Papillomavirus was demonstrated via immunohistochemical staining of biopsies of the lesion. The papillomas were removed via laser excision and the surrounding vulvar tissue injected with 5‐fluorouracil. Additional more extensive laser excisions were required due to recurrence.  相似文献

Proteolysis in model sourdough fermentations

Model wheat doughs started with six different lactic acid bacteria (LAB), with or without a commercial baker's yeast culture, were used to study proteolysis in sourdough fermentations. Cell counts, pH, and free amino acid concentration were measured. Sequential extraction of dough samples was performed to separate wheat proteins. The salt-soluble protein fraction (albumins and globulins) was analyzed by RP-HPLC and SDS-PAGE, whereas propanol-soluble (gliadins) and insoluble (glutenins) protein fractions were analyzed by SDS-PAGE only. Multivariate statistical methods were used for the analysis of results. The presence of yeasts and LAB affected RP-HPLC and SDS-PAGE patterns of the salt-soluble fraction in a complex way. The only changes in the gluten proteins that could be related to the presence of LAB were the appearance of new protein fragments (20 and 27 kDa) from gliadins and the degradation of high molecular weight glutenin subunits.  相似文献

A 23-year-old, male short-beaked echidna ( Tachyglossus aculeatus ) housed at a North American zoo was successfully treated for flea-associated anaemia, but subsequently died. Cause of death was presumptive septicaemia secondary to splenic lymphoma. This is only the fifth case of neoplasia reported in this monotreme species, and the first from outside of Australia.  相似文献

Two polysaccharides with mean M(r)s of 2.0 x 10(6) and 3.75 x 10(5), were isolated from powdered seeds of Centrosema pubescens by fractionation on Sephacryl S-300 HR. Chemical and spectroscopic studies indicated that they have a backbone chain composed of beta-(1-->4)-linked D-galactopyranose residues having branches composed of alpha-(1-->5)-linked L-arabinofuranose residues at position 6 of D-galactose of the backbone chain. The polysaccharides showed reticuloendothelial system-potentiating activity in a carbon clearance test.  相似文献

A new steroidal saponin was isolated from the bulbs of Allium ampeloprasum var. porrum L. On the basis of chemical evidence, comprehensive spectroscopic analyses and comparison of known compounds, its structure was established as (3β,5α,6β,25R)-6-[(β-d-glucopyranosyl)oxy]-spirostan-3-yl O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)]-β-d-galactopyranoside (1). Results of the present study indicated that the steroidal saponin showed haemolytic effects in the in vitro assays and demonstrated antiinflammatory activity and gastroprotective property using in vivo models.  相似文献

The upper respiratory tract is a frequent cause of exercise intolerance in horses, particularly in racing horses. There are a myriad of laryngeal abnormalities that may restrict airflow at the rima glottidis. Careful endoscopic examination is a crucial part of the examination of any racing horse suffering from poor performance. There has recently been interest in spectrum analysis of respiratory sounds. It has been determined that laryngeal hemiplegia and dorsal displacement of the soft palate have unique sound patterns. Therefore, spectrum analysis of respiratory sounds may prove to be useful in the diagnosis of laryngeal disorders in horses. Accurate diagnosis and appropriate surgical intervention are necessary to provide the horse the best chance of returning to its full athletic potential.  相似文献
