Controlled self-assembly of a trinitrofluorenone-appended gemini-shaped amphiphilic hexabenzocoronene selectively formed nanotubes or microfibers with different photochemical properties. In these nanotubes, which are 16 nanometers in diameter and several micrometers long, a molecular layer of electron-accepting trinitrofluorenone laminates an electron-donating graphitic layer of pi-stacked hexabenzocoronene. The coaxial nanotubular structure allows photochemical generation of spatially separated charge carriers and a quick photoconductive response with a large on/off ratio greater than 10(4). In sharp contrast, the microfibers consist of a charge-transfer complex between the hexabenzocoronene and trinitrofluorenone parts and exhibit almost no photocurrent generation.  相似文献

The thermoplastic flow behavior of cedar flour steamed at different temperatures in the range of 160–220°C was measured using a rheometer and compared with that of beech flour. The temperature at which the cedar flour starts to flow was approximately 70°C higher than that of beech flour, and the cedar flour exhibited low flowability. Furthermore, thermoplastic moldings were prepared from cedar and beech flours, and their physical properties were examined. Similar to the case of beech, a resin-like molding with a density of approximately 1.45?g/cm3 was obtained from the cedar flour steamed at 180°C or higher, and it was revealed by SEM observation that in these moldings wood flour particles adhere to each other. The specific bending strength was maximum for the moldings obtained from 180°C-steamed flour for both types of wood.  相似文献

We developed transplantation cultivation method of case-held tuber seedlings (CTS), which was derived from direct planting method of seed tubers, and applied this method to the sweet potato cultivar Beniharuka. A plastic case made of polypropylene was designed for cultivation of CTS. Seed tubers of cultivar Beniharuka in the range of 30–80 g were cut in half. The half-cut tubers were placed inside the plastic cases, and the cases were filled with a commercial soil mix. The case-held tubers were incubated under natural sunlight in a glass house. After 3–4 wk, the CTS were transplanted into a field. Mother tuber (seed tuber) enlargement was suppressed by the plastic confinement of the cases, and daughter tubers were formed above the case as vine-root-originated tubers. In the field experiments in 2012 and 2013, daughter tuber yields were increased 19% and 21% by case-held tuber seedling transplanting (CTST) over conventional vine-planting (VP), the number of daughter tubers per plant in CTST were 36 and 68% higher than in VP, and the mother tuber yields were limited to 2.1 and 4.3% of the total fresh yield of mother and daughter tubers, respectively in 2012 and 2013. Application of CTST method to cultivar Beniharuka enhanced tuber yield, increased the number of daughter tubers per plant, downsized daughter tubers compared to VP, and mother tuber enlargement was suppressed by case-holding. The CTST method is expected to produce more and smaller good in shape tubers of cultivar Beniharuka compared to VP.  相似文献

Irregular triangular cartilage or bone fragments are sometimes found in the fibrous triangle of the heart. Ossa cordis and/or cartilago cordis has been demonstrated in various terrestrial animal species. Regarding marine mammals, sperm whales lack heart bones, and there have been no studies on bones or cartilage in pinniped hearts. Therefore, we examined the ossa cordis and/or cartilago cordis of the Steller sea lion. Eleven Steller sea lion hearts were examined morphologically and histologically. Before dissection, some hearts were imaged by CT to confirm the presence of ossa cordis or cartilago cordis. As a result, ossa cordis-like fragments were confirmed in four adults and one pup. All of the fragments were found at the right fiber triangle, and one adult had ossified tissue, including adipose tissue in the bone marrow cavity. The ossa cordis probably support the aorta because they surround the aorta as in other terrestrial animals. Steller sea lions can dive to a few hundred meters, but they need to rest on land frequently. Hence, their ossa cordis help maintain heart function during the tachycardia that occurs upon repeated surfacing and movements on land after diving in water.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of 10 walleye pollocks, Theragra chalcogramma , from the Japan Sea and Bering Sea was determined. The 16 568–16 571 bp genome contains the same 37 mitochondrial structural genes (two ribosomal RNA, 22 transfer RNA, and 13 protein-coding genes) as found in all other vertebrates analyzed, in an organization identical to that of other bony fish. The major non-coding region had several conserved sequence features. Nucleotide variations of ND1, ND5, and control region were high, and these regions appear to be good candidates for high-resolution markers in population studies.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: We carried out mail and access point surveys to estimate the catch numbers, angling effort of recreational angling and the population of sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka in Lake Toya in 1998 and 1999. The mail survey questions in questionnaires distributed to anglers with a recreational angling license included date of angling, caught fish species and size, and catch number. In the access point survey we also asked anglers if they had a license. We measured the fork length and weight of caught fish. The catch rate (catch number in a day by each angler) from both surveys showed no significant difference, suggesting no bias for the catch rate between surveys. The estimated total angling effort was 1760 people (1998), and 1516 people (1999). The estimated recreational catch was 28 889 (1998) and 5455 (1999), that is, two or three times larger than the commercial catch. The fish population was estimated by using the DeLury method as 60 262 (1998) and 10 806 (1999). The total exploitation rate was 62% (1998) and 78% (1999). The size of caught fish was much larger in 1999 than 1998 because of the difference in age composition.  相似文献

Water streams through the conducting systems in spurs of ‘Bartlett’ pear trees were modelled in piped water-streams or electric currents, and measured by a heat-pulse method. Water-potential measurements showed that water potentials of stems (ψs), leaves (ψl) and fruits (ψf) were highest, lowest and intermediate, respectively, at mid-day throughout fruit growth. Retaining this condition (ψs >ψf >ψl), a model was constructed where streams of water through pipes connecting 3 tanks with different water-levels was analogous to water streams among 3 organs of a spur. It was then possible to estimate the possibility of water flowing from the fruit into the leaf against a reverse gradient of water-potential between the stem and the fruit. Another model used electric currents passing through 3 connected electric cells with different voltages. As the electric resistances of the 3 paths were equal, the voltage gradients toward each cell in the circuit were calculated using Kirchhoff's law. Replacing voltages by water potentials allowed the gradients of water potential toward each organ to be estimated, 23ψl ? 13s + ψf) toward the leaf, 23ψf ? 13s + ψl) toward the fruit and 23ψs ? 13l + ψf) toward the stem of the spur. Adverse water fluxes from fruits (for instance, ?0.5 ml peduncle?1 h?1 at the maximum rate) were determined by a heat-pulse method at mid-day in early August. Demonstrations of water fluxes through the peduncles and the petioles by this method gave close agreement with results from the 2 models in relation to the diurnal shifts of direction of the water streams. The gradients of water potential estimated by the electric current model was closely related to water fluxes during the day (r = ?0.9832 for peduncles, r = ?0.9604 for petioles). Hydraulic conductivities (Lp) for petioles or peduncles were in the order of 10?4 cm s?1 bar?1.  相似文献
