A 10-year-old spayed female Golden Retriever was referred for hindlimb lameness. A firm mass was palpated over the right caudal pelvis. Computed tomography revealed an osteolytic bone region and an associated periosteal reaction in the ischium, including the acetabulum. The histological diagnosis was sarcoma of unknown origin. A mid-to-caudal partial hemipelvectomy was performed to remove the mass. Femoral head and neck osteotomy was performed to allow hindlimb preservation. Following surgery, the dog regained satisfactory hindlimb use over time and was alive for 821 days with no recurrence or metastatic disease. This report indicates that mid-to-caudal partial hemipelvectomy with femoral head and neck osteotomy is technically feasible and allows for tumor control with preservation of the hindlimb and its function.  相似文献

Feline calicivirus cause feline respiratory diseases, and inactivated and attenuated vaccines are available for its prevention. Moreover, the presence of vaccine breakdown strains (VBS) is problematic. In Japan, feline recombinant interferon (rFeIFN) has been used for its treatment. However the method of compare with each strains has not established. To examine the relationship between the breakdown vaccine strain and rFeIFN sensitivity, the sensitivity of 47 field isolates to rFeIFN was determined. The Log PDD50 values were normally distributed within the range 1.1–3.7, with a mean value of 2.3 ± 0.64. Since 68.3% of the PDD values fell in the range of the mean ± standard deviation, the values in the range 1.7–2.9, the lower values, and the higher values were defined as representing moderate, low, and high sensitivity, respectively. Among the 15 vaccine breakdown strains, strain Fukuoka9 showed a low sensitivity, but strains ML89, T58, and N74 were highly sensitive, showing no association with vaccine breakdown. The amino acid sequence changes specific to the low rFeIFN-sensitive Fukuoka-9 strain were found, suggesting that these sites are involved in rFeIFN sensitivity.  相似文献

Changes in electrophysiological properties, such as ion channel expression and activity, are closely related to arrhythmogenesis during heart failure (HF). However, a causative factor for the electrical remodeling in HF has not been determined. Periostin (POSTN), a matricellular protein, is increased in heart tissues of patients with HF. In the present study, we investigated whether a single injection of POSTN affects the electrophysiological properties in rat ventricles. After male Wistar rats were intravenously injected with recombinant rat POSTN (64 µg/kg, 24 hr), electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded. Whole-cell patch clamp was performed to measure action potential (AP) and Na+ current (INa) in isolated ventricular myocytes. Protein expression of cardiac voltage-gated Na+ channel (NaV1.5) in isolated ventricles was examined by Western blotting. In ECG, POSTN-injection significantly increased RS height. POSTN-injection significantly delayed time to peak in AP and decreased INa in the isolated ventricular myocytes. POSTN-injection decreased NaV1.5 expression in the isolated ventricles. It was confirmed that POSTN (1 µg/ml, 24 hr) decreased INa and NaV1.5 protein expression in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes. This study for the first time demonstrated that a single injection of POSTN in rats decreased INa by suppressing NaV1.5 expression in the ventricular myocytes, which was accompanied by a prolongation of time to peak in AP and an increase of RS height in ECG.  相似文献

The central few hundred parsecs of the Milky Way host a massive black hole and exhibit very violent gas motion and high temperatures in molecular gas. The origin of these properties has been a mystery for the past four decades. Wide-field imaging of the (12)CO (rotational quantum number J = 1 to 0) 2.6-millimeter spectrum has revealed huge loops of dense molecular gas with strong velocity dispersions in the galactic center. We present a magnetic flotation model to explain that the formation of the loops is due to magnetic buoyancy caused by the Parker instability. The model has the potential to offer a coherent explanation for the origin of the violent motion and extensive heating of the molecular gas in the galactic center.  相似文献
