Cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV) has been the most serious pathogen of tomato in Greece for the last 15 years, causing tomato shrinkage, tomato necrosis and tomato fruit necrosis. In an epidemiological study in Eleia county, one of the main centres of production of processing tomato in Greece and one most affected by CMV, it was confirmed that the virus had an extremely high frequency. Disease frequency and severity was found to have a patchy spatial and temporal distribution at county, zone and locality level, during the years and within 1998, the main year of experimentation (and a disastrous year for CMV). Great variation was found in the trends of infection frequencies during the growing season of 1998 in the 15 experimental fields but all were finally 100% or almost 100% infected. The trends of infection frequency in these 15 fields paralleled total captures of alate aphids by a Rothamsted‐type trap, whereas in one of these fields, with a Moericke‐type trap, these parallel captures were composed almost exclusively of Aphis spiraecola.  相似文献

The original smectite clay mineral has been collected from Amazon region, Brazil. The compound 2-aminomethylpyridine (AMP) was anchored onto Amazon smectite surface by heterogeneous route. The natural (SMC) and modified (SMCAMP) smectite samples were characterized by elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction, and silicon-29 and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance. Due to the increment of basic centers attached to the pendant chains, the metal adsorption capability of the final chelating material, was found to be higher than the precursor. The ability of these materials to remove Cr(VI) from aqueous solution was followed by a series of adsorption isotherms at room temperature and pH 4.0. The maximum number of moles adsorbed was determined to be 1.16 and 1.87 mmol g− 1 for SMC and SMCAMP, respectively. In order to evaluate the clay samples as adsorbents in dynamic system, a glass column was fulfilled with clay samples (1.0 g) and it was fed with 2.0 × 10− 4 mol dm− 3 Cr(VI) at pH 4.0. The energetic effects caused by metal cation adsorption were determined through calorimetric titrations. Thermodynamics indicated the existence of favorable conditions for such Cr(VI)–nitrogen interactions.  相似文献

Lipolytic activity from pancreatic crude extracts from the Pacific bluefin tuna (PBT), Thunnus orientalis; totoaba, Totoaba macdonaldi; and striped bass, Morone saxatilis, were biochemically characterized to detect possible differences in the digestive capacity of each fish. The maximum activity was at temperatures ranging from 35 to 45 C and at pH 8.0; the activity decreased significantly at a pH lower than 7.0. Lipases from PBT and totoaba showed an increase in activity with the presence of sodium taurocholate (NaTC; 6 mM). However, no increase in activity could be observed when a mixture of bile salts or natural bile extracts was used in the reaction mixture, which was observed in the presence of NaTC. In contrast, the lipase activity from striped bass increased accordingly when NaCl was added at different levels (0–1.5 M). Calcium was not required in the reaction mixture for any of the fish species tested. We concluded that all three lipases have different physicochemical properties and ionic strength and emulsifier requirements to obtain their maximum activity. Striped bass was far too sensitive to NaCl, while totoaba and PBT were sensitive to NaTC. The differences in activity shown here suggest the possibility of studying the use of different additives on feed formulations to maximize lipase efficiency.  相似文献
