Mammary cancer is one of the leading causes of death in pet population. Early diagnosis and malignancy detection is important for prognosis. The levels of neopterin, sialic acid and nitric oxide in serum of dogs with malignant mammary tumours were evaluated to investigate the importance of these biochemical parameters for malign mammary tumour. Twelve healthy dogs and twenty dogs with malignant mammary tumours were used as research materials. Blood samples were collected from both groups for neopterin analysis by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, whereas nitric oxide and sialic acid were measured by modified nitrate reductase method and spectrophotometry, respectively. Tissue specimens were evaluated and defined as malignant tumours. Serum nitric oxide and sialic acid levels in dogs with mammary tumours were significantly higher than those in the healthy dogs. Serum neopterin levels were not found significantly different in dogs with mammary tumours compared to healthy dogs. Malignancy of canine mammary tumours are accompained by an elevation of nitric oxide and sialic acid levels.  相似文献

In this study, the contents of total phenolics, flavonoids, anthocyanins, β-carotene, and lutein as well as free, conjugated, and insoluble bound phenolic acids were determined in whole kernels of 10 different colored maize genotypes. In addition, the antioxidant activity was evaluated as radical scavenging activity with ABTS (2,2-azino-bis/3-ethil-benothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) reagents. Generally, considerable differences in phytochemical contents and antioxidant capacity were observed between the genotypes. The β-carotene and lutein contents ranged from 0 to 2.42 mg/kg d.m. and from 0 to 13.89 mg/kg d.m., respectively, whereas the total anthocyanin contents of anthocyanin-rich colored maize genotypes ranged from 2.50 to 696.07 mg CGE/kg d.m. (cyanidin 3-glucoside equivalent) with cyanidin 3-glucoside (Cy-3-Glu) as the most dominant form. The light blue ZPP-2 selfed maize genotype has a higher content of total phenolics, flavonoids, and ferulic acid as compared to other tested maize and the highest ABTS radical scavenging activity.  相似文献

In this study, the distribution of phenolic compounds and yellow pigments in wheat grains and their relation to the total antioxidant capacity of bran and debranned flour was investigated. Yellow pigments, the activity of lipoxygenase (LOX) and peroxidase (POX) enzymes were also determined. The bran fraction was found to contain significantly higher concentrations of phenolic acids, flavonoids and yellow pigments. The LOX activity was concentrated in endosperm and embryo, while the POX activity mostly concentrated in the bran fraction. The results suggest that the bran fraction of wheat would potentially provide naturally occurring antioxidants. From the health benefit point of view, a small level of bran incorporation to bread can be recommended to increase dietary fibre and phytonutrients in the diet.  相似文献

Maize grains were heated by infrared radiation for 50–100 s, than flaked and milled. The output was set to 110, 115, 120 and 140 °C to determine the effect of temperature on the formation of acrylamide, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furosine, as well as the level of phenolic compounds in maize flour and its total antioxidant capacity (TAC). Acrylamide and HMF levels were increased as the load of the heat treatment was increased in grains, while furosine concentration was rapidly increased to an apparent maximum (34.96 μg/g) followed by decrease during heating. Acrylamide, as well as HMF variables correlated very well with TAC of heat-treated flour (r2 = 0.98 and 0.86). The process of infrared heating had a great influence on the reduction of phenolic compound contents. However, new antioxidants that were formed as a result of the Maillard reaction increased the total antioxidant capacity of heat-treated maize flour.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of employing an oil temperature program during frying on the acrylamide content of French fries was investigated. The frying conditions that could lead to lower acrylamide levels in French fries were first simulated by means of an experimentally validated frying model. Then, experiments were conducted to test the simulated conditions in real frying process. Different time/temperature combinations (4 min at 170 degrees C, 2 min at 170 degrees C + 2 min at 150 degrees C, 1 min at 170 degrees C + 3 min at 150 degrees C, 1 min at 190 degrees C + 3 min at 150 degrees C) were employed for frying potato strips (8.5 x 8.5 x 70 mm), and the resultant acrylamide levels were determined with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method. The results indicated that acrylamide levels in French fries can be reduced by half if the final stage of the frying process employs a lower oil temperature. Therefore, the method appears to be an effective way of controlling the acrylamide level in the final product.  相似文献

Clinical, radiographic, and pathological findings of diffuse mesenteric lipodystrophy in a 3-year-old, female domestic short-haired cat are described. The animal had fallen from a height of approximately 20 metres 6 weeks previously, after which it developed respiratory distress and anorexia. The cat was thin, exhausted and had rapid, shallow, open-mouthed breathing. Serial upper gastrointestinal contrast radiographs showed a prolonged transit time of the contrast medium due to restricted gastric emptying, and filling defects of the duodenojejunal portions of the small intestines. The cranial abdominal cavity contained large, firm, white masses that adhered to most of the anterior abdominal organs. The intestinal walls were completely surrounded by large, hard, lobulated masses of lipomatous tissue. The masses were characterised histologically by extensive areas of coagulative necrosis of adipocytes containing foci of saponification. The lesions resembled those of massive fat necrosis or lipomatosis in cattle, pigs and deer.  相似文献

The SecA adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) mediates extrusion of the amino termini of secreted proteins from the eubacterial cytosol based on cycles of reversible binding to the SecYEG translocon. We have determined the crystal structure of SecA with and without magnesium-adenosine diphosphate bound to the high-affinity ATPase site at 3.0 and 2.7 angstrom resolution, respectively. Candidate sites for preprotein binding are located on a surface containing the SecA epitopes exposed to the periplasm upon binding to SecYEG and are thus positioned to deliver preprotein to SecYEG. Comparisons with structurally related ATPases, including superfamily I and II ATP-dependent helicases, suggest that the interaction geometry of the tandem motor domains in SecA is modulated by nucleotide binding, which is shown by fluorescence anisotropy experiments to reverse an endothermic domain-dissociation reaction hypothesized to gate binding to SecYEG.  相似文献
