Erect panicle rice cultivars utilize solar energy effectively and have improved ecological growing conditions. Among such cultivars, Shennong265 has been grown successfully throughout Northern China. Nevertheless, no studies have yet examined the relationships between crop dry matter productivity, weather conditions, and nitrogen uptake of the erect panicle type rice cultivar in Japan. The objective of our study was to evaluate the productivity of erect panicle rice Shennong265 in Western Japan under varied conditions. Three rice cultivars, Shennong265, Nipponbare, and Takanari were grown in the field under different fertilizer and plant density conditions in Western Japan; using this information, we compared yield and growth characteristics of Shennong265 with those of Nipponbare and Takanari. Although Shennong265 had radiation use efficiency similar to that of the high yielding cultivar (Takanari) and much higher leaf nitrogen content than Takanari and Nipponbare, the average grain yield of Shennong265 grown under normal fertilizer and plant density conditions was approximately 6.9 t ha?1 as against 6.2 t ha?1 for Nipponbare and 9.6 t ha?1 for Takanari. These results suggest that, while Shennong265 has a high yield potential, the environmental conditions including climate, fertilizer, and planting period provided in this study were not suitable for achieving its maximum yield. The reduced performance of Shennong265 may be caused by insufficient fertilizer after heading and by shorter growth periods, as well as by the climate of Western Japan. Additional fertilizer application during the heading stage and earlier transplanting may be needed to obtain higher Shennong265 yields in Western Japan.  相似文献

Attempts have been made to elucidate the denaturation profiles of tuna myoglobin (Mb) in comparison with horse Mb. Intensive absorbance characterization was carried out for derivatives (deoxy, oxy, met forms) of Mb. The wavelength of the maximum absorbance of tuna Mb was shorter only by 1 nm for deoxy and metMb, while it was 4 nm shorter for the second peak of metMb. Percentage Mb denaturation (PMD) was measured under a combination of pH (5.6, 6.5, 7.4) and temperature (70, 75, 80 °C). Tuna Mb was almost completely denatured even during the initial incubation at 75 and 80 °C at all pHs examined. During the incubation at 70 °C, the PMD values for tuna Mb were 88.5, 52.1, and 67.7% at pH 5.6, 6.5, and 7.4, respectively. The denaturation of tuna Mb proceeded even at 55 °C, but denaturation rates were very slow at pH 6.5. On the other hand, horse Mb was found to be very stable at pH 6.5 and 7.4 at all temperatures examined, except at pH 6.5 and 80 °C. At pH 5.6, the PMD values of horse Mb gradually increased, especially at 75 and 80 °C. These different Mbs showed quite different denaturation profiles.  相似文献

The present study aimed to explore the possibility of using the type I trichomes of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) to monitor the infection processes of powdery mildews by microscopy. Individual trichome cells of two tomato genotypes were inoculated with pathogenic and non-pathogenic powdery mildew species, Pseudoidium neolycopersici, Erysiphe trifoliorum and Podosphaera xanthii. On the trichome cells of the tomato cultivar Moneymaker, hyphae of the pathogenic Pseudoidium neolycopersici (isolates KTP-03 and KTP-04) grew vigorously; whereas hyphal growth of the non-pathogenic Erysiphe trifoliorum and Podosphaera xanthii ceased after appressorium formation, which was associated with papilla formation and hypersensitive cell death, respectively. Similar infection processes of the tested powdery mildews were seen in Moneymaker epidermal cells. Therefore, tomato trichomes are suitable for analysing, at individual cell level, the infection processes of different pathotypes of powdery mildews and for observing the cytological responses of plants by non-pathogenic powdery mildews. On the other hand, it was observed that both isolates KTP-03 and KTP-04 failed to produce conidiophores on the hyphae elongating on Moneymaker trichomes. Similarly, no conidiophores were produced on the hyphae elongating on trichomes of Solanum peruvianum LA2172, which is resistant to KTP-03 and susceptible to KTP-04. Interestingly, delayed cell death occurred in LA2172 epidermal cells, which were attacked by KTP-03 hyphae elongating from trichomes and conidiophores were formed on new hyphae growing from the leaf epidermal cells. Thus, leaf trichomes and epidermal cells of the wild tomato species LA2172 reacted differently to the avirulent isolate KTP-03.  相似文献

Soil drought occurrence during dry season has been the main constraint, besides prolonged flooding during rainy season, in increasing cropping intensity and rice productivity in tropical riparian wetland. Use of drought tolerant rice genotype might be a suitable option for overcoming such problem. This study focused on the effects of gradual soil drying during early vegetative growth stage on morphological and physiological traits of five Oryza glaberrima genotypes, namely RAM12, RAM14, RAM59, RAM97 and RAM101, and two Oryza sativa subsp japonica genotypes, i.e. Koshihikari and Minamihatamochi. The plants were subjected to 6 d of gradual soil drying condition from 15 days after transplanting (DAT) to 20 DAT, and were allowed to recover until 22 DAT. Gradual soil drying reduced plant growth as indicated by dry mass accumulation. Drought reduced stomatal conductance and increased leaf rolling score of all the genotypes. All the genotypes showed comparable response on stomatal conductance, but O. glaberrima genotypes performed higher in leaf rolling recovery. Meanwhile, O. sativa genotypes decreased total leaf area and specific leaf area, but increased specific leaf weight in order to avoid further damages due to drought stress. Drought tolerance mechanisms in RAM101, RAM12, RAM59 and RAM14 were associated with leaf morpho-physiological responses, root traits and dry biomass accumulation.  相似文献

Kisspeptin neurons in the arcuate nucleus (ARC), which co-express neurokinin B (NKB) and dynorphin A, are termed KNDy neurons. These neurons are candidates for the intrinsic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) pulse generator. The central and peripheral administration of NKB or its receptor (NK3R) agonist evokes GnRH pulse generator activity and the subsequent pulsatile GnRH/luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion. However, the mechanism responsible for neural activation of the GnRH pulse generator in goats is unclear. We conducted electrophysiological and histochemical experiments to test the hypothesis that KNDy neurons receive NKB and that the signal is transmitted bilaterally to a population of KNDy neurons. Bilateral electrodes aimed at a cluster of KNDy neurons were inserted into the ovariectomized goat ARC. We observed the GnRH pulse generator activity, represented by characteristic increases in multiple-unit activity (MUA volleys). The unilateral administration of NKB or vehicle in the close vicinity of KNDy neurons under simultaneous MUA recording from both sides revealed that only NKB evoked MUA volley(s) immediately after administration. The timing of the MUA volley(s) evoked on the ipsilateral side was synchronized to that on the contralateral side. The double-labeled ISH for KISS1 and TACR3, which encode kisspeptin and NK3R, respectively, revealed that most KNDy neurons co-expressed TACR3. Therefore, NKB could directly stimulate KNDy neurons, following which the stimulatory signal is immediately transmitted to the entire population of KNDy neurons via connection with their fibers. This mechanism helps synchronize burst activity among KNDy neurons, thereby generating neural signals that govern pulsatile GnRH secretion.  相似文献

Large highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks caused by clade 2.3.4.4e H5N6 viruses occurred in Japan during the 2016–2017 winter. To date, several reports regarding these outbreaks have been published, however a comprehensive study including geographical and time course validations has not been performed. Herein, 58 Japanese HPAI virus (HPAIV) isolates from the 2016–2017 season were added for phylogenetic analyses and the antigenic relationships among the causal viruses were elucidated. The locations where HPAIVs were found in the early phase of the outbreaks were clustered into three regions. Genotypes C1, C5, and C6–8 HPAIVs were found in specific areas. Two strains had phylogenetically distinct hemagglutinin (HA) and non-structural (NS) genes from other previously identified strains, respectively. The estimated latest divergence date between the viral genotypes suggests that genetic reassortment occurred in bird populations before their winter migration to Japan. Antigenic differences in 2016–2017 HPAIVs were not observed, suggesting that antibody pressure in the birds did not contribute to the selection of HPAIV genotypes. In the late phase, the majority of HPAI cases in wild birds occurred south of the lake freezing line. At the end of the outbreak, HPAI re-occurred in East coast region, which may be due to the spring migration route of Anas bird species. These trends were similar to those observed in the 2010–2011 outbreaks, suggesting there is a typical pattern of seeding and dissemination of HPAIV in Japan.  相似文献
