The prevalence of Dirofilaria immitis infection was evaluated in stray dogs of Erzurum, Turkey. A total of 123 whole-blood and 93 sera samples were collected from stray dogs older than 6 months were lived in animal shelter. The PCR and direct microscopic examinations were used for the detection of microfilaria and indirect-ELISA was performed for the detection of anti-D. immitis antibodies. The prevalence of D. immitis in the canine population was 8.1% by PCR, 2.1% by ELISA. In addition, microfilaria burdens of Dirofilaria sp. was 4.8% by direct blood smear examination. There was a statistical difference (P=0.05) in the prevalence between males (10.5%) and females (2.3%) by direct blood smear examination. Similarly there was a statistical difference (P<0.05) in the prevalence between males (15.8%) and females (4.7%) by PCR. Dogs belonging to the 0.5-1 years old group showed the highest prevalence than 2-4 ages group with three tests. Among the 93 samples screened by the ELISA, two samples were positive for the D. immitis antibodies. Both positive dogs with ELISA were females. 相似文献

Cr3+ sorption on strong acid exchanger Amberlyst-15(H+) is studied as a function of time and temperature using CrCl3.6H2O and [Cr4(SO4)5(OH)2] solutions. The rate is found to be governed by a mixed diffusion for both the solutions and faster for Cl1? solution than SO4 2?. The exchange capacities are found to be higher for Cl1? system than SO4 2?. From the rate constant values, the energies of activation are calculated using the well-known Arrhenius equation. Equilibrium data is explained with the help of the Langmuir equation. The Langmuir parameters are also found to be higher for exchange from the chloride solutions. Various thermodynamic parameters (??Ho, ??So, and ??Go) for Cr3+ exchange on the resin are calculated. The ??Go values are found to be negative while ??Ho and ??So are positive for both the Cr3+/Cl1? and Cr3+/SO4 2? systems. The effects of vitamin E and vitamin E-selenium combination on seminal plasma arginase activity and nitric oxide level and some spermatological properties in rams were investigated in this study. For control group, animals were injected intramuscularly with physiological saline. For vitamin E group, rams were injected intramuscularly with 300 mg/ram vitamin E. For vitamin E + selenium group, animals were injected intramuscularly with 5 ml/ram vitamin E + selenium. The semen was collected by artificial vagina at 1st, 4th, 24th, 48th and 72nd hr after administration in each group. Significant decreases in seminal plasma arginase activity (at 1st, 24th and 48th hr), nitric oxide level (at 72nd hr) and abnormal sperm rate (at 1st, 24th and 72nd hr), and significant increases in semen volume (at 24th hr), semen mass activity (at 24th and 48th hr), sperm motility (at 24th, 48th and 72nd hr) and concentration (at 1st hr) were observed in vitamin E group compared with control group. Similarly, significant increase in semen volume (at 1st, 24th and 48th hr), mass activity, (at 48th hr), motility (at 48th and 72nd hr) and concentration (at 4th, 24th and 48th hr), and significant decrements in abnormal sperm rate (at 1st, 24th, 48th and 72nd hr), seminal plasma nitric oxide level (at 1st, 4th, 24th and 48th hr) and semen pH (at 24th and 48th hr) were detected in vitamin E + selenium group in comparison to the control group. Rootstock selection has a critical importance for mineral nutrition of budded cultivars. This study was conducted at the experimental farm of Mustafa Kemal University, Dörtyol, Turkey. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of sour orange, Troyer and Carrizo citrange rootstocks on the leaf nutrient contents of ‘Nova’, ‘Robinson’, and ‘Fremont’ mandarin cultivars in the 2004 and 2005 growing seasons. Carrizo citrange was examined for nitrogen (N), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na), and manganese (Mn); Troyer citrange for iron (Fe); and sour orange for calcium (Ca) and zinc (Zn) were superior on the others. Nitrogen, phosphorus (P) and Mg levels of mandarin leaf budded on sour orange were under or just above the deficiency threshold. Potassium, Mn, and Zn content of ‘Robinson’; P, Ca and Fe content of ‘Fremont’; and Cu content of ‘Nova’ were statistically higher. The Burdur Lake is located in the southwest of Turkey, and its area has decreased by 40% from 211 km2 in 1975 to 126 km2 in 2019. In this study, we investigated how the soil has changed in the lacustrine material. Three soil profiles were sampled from the former lakebed (chronosequence profiles: P1, 2007; P2, 1994; and P3, 1975), and three soil profiles under different land use types (biosequence profiles: P4, native forest vegetation; P5, agriculture; and P6, lakebed) were sampled. The chronosequence and biosequence soil profiles represented various distances from the Burdur Lake and showed different stages of lacustrine evolution. Soil electrical conductivity (EC; 18.1 to 0.4 dS m-1), exchangeable Na+ (34.7 to 1.4 cmol kg-1) and K+ (0.61 to 0.56 cmol kg-1), and water-soluble Cl- (70.3 to 2.1 cmol L-1) and SO42- (275.9 to 25.0 cmol L-1) decreased with increasing distance from the Burdur Lake, whereas the A horizon thickness (10 to 48 cm), structure formation (0 to 48 cm), gleization-oxidation depth (0 to 79 cm), and montmorillonite and organic matter (OM; 25.9 to 46.0 g kg-1) contents increased in the chronosequence soil profiles. The formation of P3 in the chronosequence and P5 in the biosequence soil profiles increased due to longer exposure to pedogenic processes (time, land use, vegetation, etc.). The sea louse, Lepeophtheirus salmonis , is an ectoparasitic copepod of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., capable of causing severe damage. This study was conducted to examine the physiological response of salmon to the stress of sea lice infestation. Smoltified salmon were acclimatized in 30‰ saltwater and exposed to high levels of lice infestation. The number of copepods per fish ranged from 15 to 285, with a mean of 106. The infested salmon were sampled six times over the 29-d experimental duration and examined for alterations in the primary and secondary stress indicators, including plasma concentrations of cortisol, glucose, electrolytes, thyroid hormones T3 and T4, as well as the haematocrit level. The results were examined for correlations between the stress indicators, the number of copepods per fish and the life stage of the copepods. The presence of L. salmonis elevated stress indicators in relation to the specific sea lice stage. By day 21, both cortisol (mean 63.1 nmol L−1 controls: 179.8 nmol L−1 for parasitized) and glucose (mean 3.545 mmol L−1 controls: 4.567 mmol L−1 for parasitized) levels were significantly increased due to the presence of the lice. This was believed to be a direct result of the sea lice development into the larger life stages, thus increasing the level of host damage. 相似文献
