This paper presents a new hierarchical and coordinative control method for reactive power optimization in large-scale interconnected power systems. It combines the interconnection forecast method for hierarchical control in large-scale steady state industrial systems with the incremental linear programming method for reactive power optimization in real time. The results of applying the method to power system examples show that the method not only solves the problem of high dimension in order, but also keeps the advantages of the incremental linear programming method. Based on the analysis and study on some existed models for two-dimensional Guillotine Cutting-Stock problem, it is pointed out that some kinds of the models may miss some good cutting patterns,and some may result in inadequate solutions because of only considering the patterns with the smallest waste. A kind of revised two-dimensional cutting-stock models are developed,which transform the two-dimensional problem into the one-dimensional one using the dimension-decreasing heuristic method and whose initial patterns are considered comprehensively. A new quick thinning algorithm was presented in this paper,which assigneddifferent weights to different pixels near the skeleton pixels and rules out the im possible pixels in thethinning procedure. It needs neither iteration on pixel panel nor detection on every pixel such thatthe time consumed is greatly lessened.
