Preservation of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletin in the Digital Repository

To assist agricultural librarians in their new role as digital preservation and distribution specialists, this article documents the basic procedures for scanning and digitizing print agricultural serial publications and submitting them to a DSpace digital repository, through a case study of a project at Texas A&M University Libraries to digitize Texas Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletins. It is hoped that a dispersed network of similar agricultural materials in all the various land grant university digital repositories could be crawled to harvest the metadata records and make them accessible in a central user-friendly digital library for agriculture.  相似文献   

CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS OF LATERAL DIGITAL FLEXOR TENDINITIS WITHIN THE TARSAL SHEATH IN FOUR HORSES

Lateral digital flexor tendonitis is a rarely reported cause of hind limb lameness in performance horses. The purpose of this retrospective study was to describe clinical and diagnostic imaging findings for a group of horses with lateral digital flexor tendinitis within the tarsal sheath. Equine cases with a diagnosis of lateral digital flexor tendonitis and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies of the affected region were retrieved from North Carolina University's medical record database. Recorded data for included horses were signalment; findings from history, physical examination, lameness examination, and all diagnostic imaging studies; treatment administered; and outcome. Four horses met inclusion criteria. Lameness was mild/moderate in severity and insidious in onset in all patients. Responses to flexion tests were variable. All horses showed positive improvement (70–90%) in lameness after tarsal sheath analgesia. Radiographic, scintigraphic, and ultrasonographic findings were inconclusive. For all horses, MRI characteristics included increased T2, PD, and STIR signal intensity within the lateral digital flexor tendon in the area of the tarsal sheath. Tarsal sheath effusion was slight in three horses, and mild/moderate in one horse. With medical treatment, two horses were sound at 6‐month followup, one horse was sound at 1‐year followup, and one horse had a slight persistent lameness (grade 1/5) at 9‐month followup. Findings supported the use of MRI for diagnosing lateral digital flexor tendonitis within the tarsal sheath in horses. Affected horses may have a good prognosis for return to athletic performance following appropriate medical treatment.  相似文献

果园大数据智能管理与服务平台探索与实践

【目的】 传统数字化果园管理中存在数据存储分散、数据处理效率低、服务能力弱和整个生命周期的农业生产数据缺乏等问题,开发集数据存储、管理、挖掘分析和决策支持等功能于一体的果园大数据智能管理与服务平台迫在眉睫。【方法】 文章通过结合“空－天－地”一体化、数字农业、智慧农业等理念,集成深度学习、概率图模型和知识图谱等人工智能方法,开发了果园大数据智能管理与服务平台。【结果】 平台实现了果树数量自动统计、地理环境感知、农机设备自动化精准感知、果园生产周期数据管理和智能化更新功能,同时平台还提供水、肥、药智能决策服务和智能农机生产作业管控服务。【结论】 该平台在成都市龙泉驿现代农业园区进行应用,实现了桃园生产大数据的智能管理和提供精准生产指导服务。该平台的实现为促进果园智能管理和精准生产指导服务提供技术参考,对实现果园智慧化管理具有重要意义。  相似文献   

德清县“宅富通”系统建设思路与实践探讨

【目的】 以浙江德清县“宅富通”系统建设与实践为例探索数字化赋能宅基地制度改革迭代升级的途径,为落实宅基地制度改革政策,加强宅基地监督管理,激活宅基地资源要素,各地亟需加强宅基地改革与数字化改革的衔接,不断拓宽宅基地改革与管理的创新路径。【方法】 文章着重介绍德清县农村宅基地管理信息系统“宅富通”的建设内容与目标、系统总体架构设计、系统功能开发与实现,围绕系统建设和应用提出了思路。 【结果/【结论】 德清县通过建立农村宅基地管理信息系统“宅富通”,在充分利用已有资源、整合已建系统的基础上,围绕宅基地申请、审批、流转、退出、违法用地查处等重点业务提供数字化服务。德清县积极推进宅基地数字化管理,赋能闲置宅基地盘活利用,贯彻“最多跑一次”改革和数字化改革的理念及要求,打通业务数据壁垒、探索完善宅基地制度改革路径,推进宅基地管理模式创新,提高闲置宅基地和农房盘活利用效率。  相似文献

● Seventy-eight percent of farmers accessed extension and advisory services from electronic sources dominated by radio. ● Low digital literacy and high cost of internet and digital devices were key barriers to digital extension and advisory services use. ● Farmers need information to make decisions, e.g., fertilizers, seeds or pesticides to use. ● Integrating digital and face-to-face methods can enhance inclusive scaling of extension activities. An assessment of the challenges and capacity gaps in smallholder access to digital extension and advisory services (EAS) was made by surveying 197 female and 239 male farmers in Kenya and Uganda. Non-digital extension approaches remain dominant but at least 78% of farmers accessed EAS from electronic sources dominated by radio. This is attributed to the fact that ownership of radios was more widespread than of other digital devices. Challenges that particularly limit the use of digital services included low digital literacy and prohibitive cost of internet and mobile devices. Female and elderly farmers were more likely to report these challenges than their counterparts. Logistic regression model results show that ownership of digital devices, participation in post-production activities, and access to extension were enablers of digital EAS use. Farmers mentioned gaps in obtaining information on crop pest/disease diagnosis and management, fertilizer application, pesticide safety and quality seed. Given the diversity in smallholder technological capabilities and information needs, the recommendations made include integration of digital communication within multimode advisory services that use different but linked communication channels, continued farmer digital innovation capacity enhancement, and participatory design approaches that deliver relevant and actionable information for inclusive scaling of extension activities.  相似文献
