Changes in estrogen receptor expression in the chick thymus during late embryonic development

In chickens, although estrogen receptors (ER) are reported to be associated with the immunological processes, detailed information about the differences in ER expression in the tissues related to the development of lymphocytes is not fully known, especially during the developmental stage. To learn more about this immunological relationship, we used semi‐quantitative polymerase chain reaction method to detect the ER expression levels in the thymus tissues of chicks during the developmental stage. Furthermore, ER‐expressing cells were detected by immunohistochemistry. The results of this study show that the expression level of ER increased on embryonic day 16 and decreased on day 20. Furthermore, ER expression was significantly higher in male than in female chickens at day 16. The increased expression on day 16 and decreased level on day 20 were also reproduced in the incidence of immunoreactive cells, although there was a 1‐day delay in the elevated incidence of the cells. This study revealed the changes in ER expression and the incidence of ER‐positive cells in the thymus of chickens during the developmental stage.  相似文献   

Serum neopterin levels in female dogs with malignant mammary tumours

In this study, we have determined serum neopterin levels in female dogs with primary malignant mammary tumours. The study involved 50 female dogs which had a malignant mammary tumours removed surgically (32 animals with carcinoma, 12 animals with sarcoma and 6 animals with carcinosarcoma) and 10 clinically healthy female dogs. Serum neopterin levels were determined using a commercial ELISA kit. The mean neopterin levels were lower in the malignant tumour groups than in healthy animals but differences were statistically significant only in carcinoma and sarcoma groups. The decrease of neopterin levels in animals with malignant mammary tumours may suggest their decreased cellular immunity. Moreover, it might indicate that decreased activity of cellular mechanisms of the anti‐neoplastic response is one of the factors associated with the development and course of malignant mammary tumours in female dogs; however, further studies are necessary.  相似文献

有氧健身操锻炼对普通女大学生STI的影响

探讨较长时间的有氧健身操锻炼对普通女性大学生STI是否有良性的影响，30名普通女性大学生分成实验组（15人，3次/周， 90min/次）和对照组（15人，1次/周， 90min/次），共16周（一个学期）有氧健身操定量锻炼。分别在锻炼前、第8周末、16周结束时测量STI指标。结果表明，8周有氧健身操锻炼有一定的效果，但并不显著，直到16周结束STI相应指标才出现较明显的变化。提示：短期的有氧健身操锻炼对心脏的影响较小，要使心脏发生与运动相适应性的良性变化，锻炼的周期要长，且要保证每周锻炼的次数和时间。  相似文献

本文研究了普通丝瓜(Luffa cylindrica Roem.)和有棱丝瓜(L. acutan-gula Roxb.)的光周期反应。试验表明,丝瓜两个种都是在长日照下延迟发育,短日照则提早发育。短日照处理以子叶展开后开始为适宜。有棱丝瓜在10-20h光照范围内,第1雌、雄花的节位呈随着日照时数的延长而提高的趋势。不同品种对短日照的反应有所不同。‘乌耳’、‘登峰’和‘双青’三个品种对短日条件要求比较严格,而‘青皮’和‘棠东’两个品种对短日条件的要求不很严格。短日处理可加速植株的雌性发育,提早发生雌花,增加雌花数和提高雌/雄花比率等。这些效应随着短日处理天数的增加而加强。  相似文献
