This study aimed to determine the optimal placement of the region of interest (ROI) among four anatomical sites—pulmonary artery (PA), pulmonary vein (PV), aortic arch (AA), and carotid artery (CA)—in computed tomography (CT) brain angiography with automatic bolus tracking in healthy beagle dogs. Six beagles were included, and CT brain angiography was performed four times for each dog, to cover each ROI. The scan parameters, amount, and injection rate of the contrast medium were the same. The major intracranial arteries were selected for quantitative and qualitative evaluation: caudal cerebellar artery (CcA), basilar artery (BA), rostral cerebellar artery (RcA), caudal cerebral artery (CCA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), and rostral cerebral artery (RCA). Quantitative evaluation showed significantly higher CT attenuation values for the RcA, CCA, and MCA in the PA group and RcA and MCA in the PV group than in the CA group. Qualitative analysis revealed significantly higher scores for the BA, CCA, and MCA in the PA and PV groups than in the CA group. Venous contamination did not differ significantly among the ROIs, but the mean scores of the AA and CA groups were higher than those of the PA and PV groups. CT brain angiography using bolus tracking in the beagle dogs showed that the ROI should be placed at the PA or PV rather than at the CA for optimal images with strong contrast enhancement of the BA, RcA, CCA, and MCA and minimal venous contamination.  相似文献

A 10‐year‐old dog weighing 3.4 kg presented with intermittent regurgitation. Esophagography revealed that the thoracic esophagus was compressed dorsally at the region of the fourth intercostal space and segmentally dilated from the second to third intercostal region. Three‐dimensional computed tomographic (CT) angiography confirmed a suspected vascular ring anomaly and also revealed multiple other vascular anomalies. These included aberrant right subclavian artery, absence of bilateral external jugular veins, right‐gastric caval shunt, and a completely duplicated caudal vena cava. Findings supported the use of thoracic CT angiography to rule out additional vascular malformations in dogs with suspected vascular ring anomaly.  相似文献

Eight neurologically normal beagles were imaged using three-dimensional (3D) time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in a 3 T magnetic resonance scanner. Four of the eight dogs were also imaged using a 1 T unit for comparison. Ten intracranial arteries were consistently identified at 3 T: external and internal carotid, basilar, vertebral, rostral cerebral, middle cerebral, caudal cerebral, rostral communicating, caudal communicating, and ventral spinal arteries. Only four were reliably identified at 1 T with diagnostic spatial and contrast resolution. At 3 T, vessels as small as 1 mm were reliably detected. Vessel conspicuity was superior using the 3 T system. An anatomic atlas of the canine circulus arteriosus cerebri using a 3 T scan was constructed. The effect of MRA parameters on vascular spatial resolution and conspicuity are reviewed.  相似文献

Non-selective computed tomography angiography (CTA) is an emerging imaging technique that will have continued application in veterinary medicine because of its short scan time, use of a single, peripheral venous injection and availability of more detailed anatomic information—including 3-dimensional reconstructions. The improved anatomic detail may facilitate veterinary students' learning of complex aortic arch malformations and details relative to the surgical approach. Herein we describe application of its use in a dog with a vascular ring anomaly due to a persistent right fourth aortic arch and left ligamentum arteriosum. Additionally, we compare images with a normal dog.  相似文献

Arterioportal fistulae are rare congenital anomalies of the hepatic vasculature. Diagnosis is conventionally made by selective angiography or ultrasonography. This report describes use of a dual-phase computed tomographic (CT) angiographic technique to diagnose arterioportal fistulae in four dogs. Advantages of this method include a noninvasive peripheral injection of contrast medium, ability to diagnose multiple acquired extrahepatic shunts, and observation of hemodynamic changes such as hepatofugal blood flow and reduced circulation to the caudal abdomen. The hepatic vasculature including arteries, veins, and portal veins can be completely evaluated. Dual-phase CT angiography is a safe and minimally invasive method of diagnosing arterioportal fistulae in dogs.  相似文献

A 5 year-old female Lhasa Apso was diagnosed with a large right pulmonary artery thrombus, multiple smaller pulmonary thrombi, and pulmonary hypertension. In addition, thoracic computed tomography angiography revealed numerous periesophageal arterial vessels, tortuous and dilated bronchial arteries, and an enlarged tortuous left phrenic artery, consistent with systemic bronchial and non-bronchial collateral arterial circulation development. These features of chronic pulmonary arterial thrombi have not been described in dogs but are recognized in people. One year after the diagnosis, the dog was still alive and there were no clinical signs reported.  相似文献

We describe the technique for in vivo cardiac‐gated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in normal dogs and its application in two dogs with a large right atrial tumor. The dogs with a cardiac tumor were also imaged using contrast‐enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE‐MRA). Cardiac‐gated MRI and CE‐MRA are both feasible in animals with short acquisition times compatible with breath‐hold imaging under anesthesia, and provide detailed two‐ and three‐dimensional (3D) depiction of the cardiac anatomy and great vessels with or without contrast medium. Although cardiac MRI will not replace echocardiography, it is a powerful alternative technique to use when knowledge of the 3D anatomy of the vasculature is required, when precise volume measurements are needed or when myocardial characterization is indicated. As opposed to contrast‐enhanced computed tomography angiography, cardiac MRI does not use ionizing radiation or iodinated contrast medium.  相似文献
