Seedball is a cheap “seed‐pelleting‐technique” that combines local materials, seeds and optionally additives such as mineral fertilizer to enhance pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Brown) early growth under poor soil conditions. The major objective here was to study the mechanisms behind positive seedball effects. Chemical effects in the rhizosphere and early root development of seedball‐derived pearl millet seedlings were monitored using micro‐suction‐cups to extract soil solutions and X‐ray tomography to visualize early root growth. Pearl millet (single seedling) was grown in soil columns in a sandy soil substrate. Root and shoot biomass were sampled. X‐ray tomography imaging revealed intense development of fine roots within the nutrient‐amended seedball. Seedball and seedball+NPK treatments, respectively, were 65% and 165% higher in shoot fresh weight, and 108% and 227% higher in shoot dry matter than the control treatment. Seedball+NPK seedlings showed promoted root growth in the upper compartment and 105% and 30% increments in root fresh and dry weights. Soil solution concentrations indicate that fine root growth ass stimulated by release of nutrients from the seedballs to their direct proximity. Under real field conditions, the higher root length density and finer roots could improve seedlings survival under early drought conditions due to better ability to extract water and nutrients from a greater soil volume.  相似文献

从2005—2006年8月在宁大路边坡植被建植试验,结果表明,覆盖度最大的组合为阳坡的苜蓿 扁穗冰草,可达95%,而阴、阳边坡赖草 柠条组合的盖度变化幅度均最大,从8%左右到80%,且物种多样性也最高。对不同物种在阴、阳边坡株高变化比较得出,沙棘在阴坡生长优于阳坡,而骆驼蓬和白刺阳坡优于阴坡,其他变化均不明显。  相似文献

基于桔小实蝇的生物学和生态学特性,在Excel平台上统计分析了江苏省13个站点20年的气象数据。数据分析表明江苏省是桔小实蝇的潜在适生分布区;有效积温分析表明,桔小实蝇一年内在江苏省可发生5~7代;基于地理信息系统ArcM ap G IS的桔小实蝇地理分布预测图表明,其潜在的高发期为7月下旬和8月上旬。预测结果还显示,桔小实蝇在常州、溧阳、吴县东山、南京和吕泗等31°N~32°N地区有相对较好的适生性。  相似文献

Native trees provide a range of benefits, from supporting native wildlife to climate regulation, and many urban natural resource managers prioritize native tree planting and restoration. Ulmus americana (American elm) was once widely planted in American cities but has been decimated by Dutch elm disease (DED; Ophiostoma ulmi). Our study evaluated U. americana establishment and growth across urban landscapes. We planted ramets from three DED-tolerant U. americana genotypes (RV16, RV474, and Sunfield) along an urbanization gradient in Newark, DE and Philadelphia, PA, and assessed physiological and morphological responses. We analyzed how U. americana clone growth, chlorophyll fluorescence, and foliar chemistry relate to impervious surface area, ozone (O3) concentrations, and soil characteristics. The one-year post planting mortality rate was low (4%) demonstrating these elms can withstand urban environmental conditions when provided ample water supply and protection from deer. As expected, the elms differed in growth rate, chlorophyll fluorescence, and foliar chemistry between the cities. Elms planted in Philadelphia had greater photosynthetic capacity in July (Fv/Fm = 0.76) and September (Fv/Fm = 0.75), while Newark elms had greater photosynthetic capacity in August (Fv/Fm = 0.78). Depleted foliar δ13C signatures in Philadelphia suggest elms are experiencing greater fossil-fuel derived atmospheric CO2 than in Newark, possibly contributing to the greater growth rates observed in Philadelphia compared to Newark. Enriched foliar δ15N and greater foliar %N in Philadelphia clones suggest they are experiencing greater N deposition from NOx-derived sources compared to Newark clones. Clones growing in Philadelphia had greater foliar nutrient concentrations despite growing in soils with greater heavy metal concentrations. These foliar-soil chemistry patterns suggest that clones growing in Philadelphia respond positively to urban environmental conditions in a large city, whereas clones growing in Newark may be experiencing N limitation in the first year of growth after planting.  相似文献

On bauxite mining spoils in central Greece three replicate field trials, with (a) hydro‐seeding, (b) plus straw mulching, (c) plus plastic net fixing and (d) plus asphalt fixing, were executed and vegetation cover, number of plants and bio‐mass production measured during three consecutive years. It was found that hydro‐seeding alone gave poor results but slowly improved with time. The combined treatments proved superior, and there is no difference between the various ones, but their effect declined after the first year. Adverse effects of asphalt binder were not observed, but a laboratory trial showed that its direct contact with seeds can affect the survival and growth of certain species. The successfully established species include Lolium rigidum, Trifolium subterraneum and Sanguisorba minor. However, Phacelia tanacetifolia, despite its good performance in the first year, was significantly reduced in the consecutive years. 为保证制苗所用毒种质量和稳定性,在对鸡痘鹌鹑化弱毒株病毒含量、病毒纯净性、特异性、免疫原性及安全性等研究的基础上,建立了鸡痘鹌鹑化弱毒株种子批。将鸡痘鹌鹑化弱毒F278 E1(1966年6月3日冻干)通过鹌鹑连续传至4代(F282 E1)后,再经鸡胚传至14代(F282 E14)。传代毒种的鉴定结果表明:抽检的各代次的毒种均无细菌、支原体、外源病毒污染,且病毒含量检测稳定,均≥106.2EID50/0.2ml。将抽检的各代次的毒种制成活疫苗,免疫适龄鸡只后均能产生完全保护。因此,确定鸡痘鹌鹑化弱毒株基础种子代数为F282 E2~E6代,生产用毒种继代应不超过3代。种子批的建立,为鸡痘鹌鹑化弱毒株疫苗的生产奠定了基础。  相似文献

为制订烟草粉斑螟Ephestia elutella的精准管理方案,从入侵阶段出发,基于收集的生物学及生态学信息以及MaxEnt模型对烟草粉斑螟入侵中国的跨境传入风险、定殖适生风险以及扩散暴发风险进行评估,并提出相应的风险管理措施。结果表明,烟草粉斑螟个体体积小,为害隐蔽不易识别,传入途径多样,具有高跨境传入风险;未来气候条件下其在全球及在中国的总适生区面积呈扩张趋势,具有高定殖适生风险;其繁殖能力强,寄主广泛,传播途径广,为害后果严重,具有高扩散暴发风险,最终评估烟草粉斑螟入侵中国的全程风险水平为高风险水平。应采取科学的监测和防控方法,分阶段精准防控烟草粉斑螟入侵,警惕其进一步扩散为害。  相似文献

为筛选适合我国国情的芒草产业化的低成本繁殖技术,根据国外相对成熟的种植措施,利用我国的农业生产数据,对5种可行繁殖技术的后代种植成本进行估算。结果表明:5种繁殖系统的后代材料在种植密度、除草剂类型及施用量、施肥量存在差异最大;估算种植成本变异幅度为3 072.0~12 225.3元/hm2,其中种子直播法成本最低,而微繁育苗移栽法最高;在各项投入要素中种植材料与化肥的成本最高,合计约占总体生产成本的70%。此外,还利用SWOT法对5种繁殖技术的利用潜力予以评价。结果表明:在芒草产业化的初期,根茎直播法将被广泛采用;随着技术的进步,根茎与茎秆育苗移栽法将会逐步取代根茎直播法;最后,种子直播法与微繁育苗移栽法将会主导芒草的商业化生产市场。  相似文献
