A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of farm yard manure (FYM) and lime (calcium carbonate) on reducing the uptake of Cd by rice in two Cd contaminated soils of Chittagong. The effects of farm yard manure, lime and farm yard manure mixed with lime (FYM + Lime) on rice (Oryza sativa L.) growth, Cd uptake by rice and 0.1 N HC1 extractable Cd in soil were investigated. Results showed that addition of lime and farm yard manure mixed with lime significantly decreased 0.1 N HCl extractable Cd in the city sewage soil. Application of farm yard manure significantly decreased Cd concentration in rice in the city sewage soil. Lime and farm yard manure mixed with lime significantly reduced Cd concentration in rice m both the contaminated soils. Lime was more efficient than farm yard manure in reducing the uptake of Cd by rice.  相似文献

We focused on key aspects of forest governance for biodiver- sity conservation in implementing new climate change policies. The national forest institutions must be adaptive to identify the existing pitfalls of prior conservation policies to take advantage of new climate change policies. Strengthening roles and technical capacity of national institutions for systematic biodiversity monitoring and carbon stock assessment is required in developing and least developed countries. Community participation needs careful analysis to ensure equitable ac- cess of particular social groups to local decision-making processes and to sustain optional livelihoods. The livelihood options around forest reserves or protected areas must be taken into account to enhance forest-based adaptation.  相似文献

1. The objective of this study was to examine whether addition of plumping fluid (PF) to Lake's solution (LS) for storage of fowl spermatozoa in vitro at 4°C can prolong survival and improve the quality of spermatozoa.

2. In experiment 1, aliquots of spermatozoa were stored in vitro in LS alone and LS containing 10%, 25%, 50% and 75% (v:v) PF for 0.5, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h at 4°C. After the end of each storage period, spermatozoa were evaluated for their viability, mobility and penetrability. Viability was determined using SYBR-14 and propidium iodide (PI) staining. Mobility was assessed using an Accudenz assay. Penetrability was assessed using spermatozoa-inner perivitelline layer (IPL) interaction assay.

3. In experiment 2, aliquots of spermatozoa were stored in vitro in LS alone and LS containing 25% and 50% (v:v) PF for 0.5, 24, 48 and 72 h at 4°C, and then fertility of the spermatozoa was evaluated using intravaginal artificial insemination (AI) in hens.

4. Storage of spermatozoa in LS alone resulted in loss of viability, mobility, penetrability and fertility within 48 h. In contrast, no loss of viability and penetrability was observed for the spermatozoa stored for 48, 96, 72 and 48 h in LS containing 10%, 25%, 50% and 75% (v:v) PF, respectively. In particular, fertilising capacity was not lost for the spermatozoa stored in the presence of 25% or 50% PF in LS for 48 and 24 h, respectively.

5. In conclusion, these findings demonstrated that in vitro exposure of fowl spermatozoa to PF during hypothermic storage in LS prolonged spermatozoa survival. A 25% (v:v) level of inclusion of PF in LS may be effective for the improvement of viability, penetrability and fertilising ability of the stored spermatozoa.  相似文献

Walleye dermal sarcoma virus (WDSV) is a type of retrovirus, which affects most of the adult walleye fishes during the spawning time. The virus causes multiple epithelial tumors on the fish’s skin and fins that are liable for more than 50% of the mortality rate of fish around the world. Till now, no effective antiviral drug or vaccine candidates have been developed that can block the progression of the disease caused by the pathogen. It was found that the 582-amino-acid (aa) residues long internal structural gag polyprotein of the virus plays an important role in virus budding and virion maturation outside of the cell. Inhibition of the protein can block the budding and virion maturation process and can be developed as an antiviral drug candidate against the virus. Therefore, the study aimed to identify potential natural antiviral drug candidates from the tropical mangrove marine plant Avicennia alba, which will be able to block the budding and virion maturation process by inhibiting the activity of the gag protein of the virus. Initially, a homology modeling approach was applied to identify the 3D structure, followed by refinement and validation of the protein. The refined protein structures were then utilized for molecular docking simulation. Eleven phytochemical compounds have been isolated from the marine plant and docked against the virus gag polyprotein. Three compounds, namely Friedlein (CID244297), Phytosterols (CID12303662), and 1-Triacontanol (CID68972) have been selected based on their docking score −8.5 kcal/mol, −8.0 kcal/mol and −7.9 kcal/mol, respectively, and were evaluated through ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion), and toxicity properties. Finally, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was applied to confirm the binding stability of the protein-ligands complex structure. The ADME and toxicity analysis reveal the efficacy and non-toxic properties of the compounds, where MD simulation confirmed the binding stability of the selected three compounds with the targeted protein. This computational study revealed the virtuous value of the selected three compounds against the targeted gag polyprotein and will be effective and promising antiviral candidates against the pathogen in a significant and worthwhile manner. Although in vitro and in vivo study is required for further evaluation of the compounds against the targeted protein.  相似文献
