This paper examines the influences of Malaysia's Federation Land Development Authority (FELDA) scheme in fostering inclusive rural development. Based on the model of holistic inclusive development, the paper investigates the performance of FELDA from four perspectives: social development, industrialisation, modernisation and basic needs. The main findings of the study indicate that, to a large extent, the scheme has successfully stimulated both the social and economic development of the community. Nonetheless, establishing a strong trust, social cohesion and rapport between the public authorities and community remain the main challenges in determining the success of this state‐led agenda. Moreover, keeping traditional values in the modern system will be the key principle for the sustainability of the programme if plans are made to adopt the scheme in other regions. 相似文献

Activated carbon was prepared from an agricultural waste, coconut coir, and its characteristics were compared with that of
a commercial bituminous coal-based activated carbon. The activated carbon possessed higher surface area, micropore area, micropore
volume and average pore diameter, and well-developed meso- and micropores. Batch test on adsorption of chromium(VI) by the
coconut coir activated carbon showed that the extent of chromium(VI) adsorption was dependent on chromium(VI) concentration,
contact time, pH and activated carbon dose. Maximum adsorption occurred at pH 1.0–2.0 and equilibrium adsorption was attained
in 2.5 h. Chromium(VI) adsorption followed pseudo second-order kinetics. Equilibrium chromium(VI) adsorption data for the
coconut coir activated carbon and the commercial activated carbon were described by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models
and indicated higher chromium(VI) adsorption capacity of the coconut coir activated carbon. Chromium(VI) adsorption capacity
of the coconut coir activated carbon was compared with that of activated carbon prepared from different waste material and
bituminous coal. The coconut coir activated carbon showed high limiting capacity for adsorption of chromium(VI). Coconut coir
activated carbon is a suitable substitute for commercial activated carbon in the adsorptive removal of chromium(VI) from water. 相似文献

Improved rice varieties(IRVs) play a significant role in establishing food security and improving livelihood in the Global South since its introduction in the 1960s. However, the adoption of new IRVs has remained relatively low. This low adoption poses a challenge to rice-producing and consuming countries as they are increasingly threatened by production shortages, malnutrition, and poor rice quality. Many empirical studies have attempted to identify the determinants influencing the adoption of ... 相似文献

This study was designed to profile the metabolites of Isochrysis galbana, an indigenous and less explored microalgae species. 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) were used to establish the metabolite profiles of five different extracts of this microalga, which are hexane (Hex), ethyl acetate (EtOAc), absolute ethanol (EtOH), EtOH:water 1:1 (AqE), and 100% water (Aq). Partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS–DA) of the generated profiles revealed that EtOAc and Aq extracts contain a diverse range of metabolites as compared to the other extracts with a total of twenty-one metabolites, comprising carotenoids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and amino acids, that were putatively identified from the NMR spectra. Meanwhile, thirty-two metabolites were successfully annotated from the LCMS/MS data, ten of which (palmitic acid, oleic acid, α-linolenic acid, arachidic acid, cholesterol, DHA, DPA, fucoxanthin, astaxanthin, and pheophytin) were similar to those present in the NMR profile. Another eleven glycerophospholipids were discovered using MS/MS-based molecular network (MN) platform. The results of this study, besides providing a better understanding of I. galbana’s chemical make-up, will be of importance in exploring this species potential as a feed ingredient in the aquaculture industry. 相似文献
