Our main goal was to investigate if robust chemical fingerprints could be developed for three Argentinean red wines based on organic, inorganic, and isotopic patterns, in relation to the regional soil composition. Soils and wines from three regions (Mendoza, San Juan, and Co?rdoba) and three varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Syrah) were collected. The phenolic profile was determined by HPLC-MS/MS and multielemental composition by ICP-MS; (87)Sr/(86)Sr and δ(13)C were determined by TIMS and IRMS, respectively. Chemometrics allowed robust differentiation between regions, wine varieties, and the same variety from different regions. Among phenolic compounds, resveratrol concentration was the most useful marker for wine differentiation, whereas Mg, K/Rb, Ca/Sr, and (87)Sr/(86)Sr were the main inorganic and isotopic parameters selected. Generalized Procrustes analysis (GPA) using two studied matrices (wine and soil) shows consensus between them and clear differences between studied areas. Finally, we applied a canonical correlation analysis, demonstrating significant correlation (r = 0.99; p < 0.001) between soil and wine composition. To our knowledge this is the first report combining independent variables, constructing a fingerprint including elemental composition, isotopic, and polyphenol patterns to differentiate wines, matching part of this fingerprint with the soil provenance.  相似文献

The relative contributions of feed sources were determined through the isotopic signal (δ13C and δ15N) and fatty acid profile of feed items, shrimp muscle, and eggs of Litopenaeus vannamei reared in a biofloc system. In the growout phase, the isotope analysis showed the biofloc particle size class ≥250 μm contributed 55–100%; size ≥50 < 250 μm contributed 0–22%; and artificial feed contributed 0–45%. Principal component analysis applied to fatty acid profiles showed that biofloc ≥250 μm and artificial feed were the most important items in shrimp growout. For the egg production, isotope analysis suggested that the most important feed sources according to their relative contributions were polychaetes (0–100%), followed by artemia biomass (0–86%) and semi‐moist feed (0–66%), with lower contributions from squid, mussel, and the muscle of L. vannamei broodstock that had been cultured in biofloc. In terms of fatty acids, the most important items were artemia, polychaetes, and semi‐moist feeds. This work clarified the importance of feed sources for shrimp during culture in biofloc systems and during reproduction. Analysis of stable isotopes and fatty acids can be successfully used to trace the assimilation of nutrients during the nutrition of shrimp.  相似文献

Previous in situ studies of orchid population dynamics with conservation relevance have focused on one or a few populations in a limited area. Many species of orchids occur as hyperdispersed populations in ephemeral habitats (epiphytic, twig epiphytes, short lived or vulnerable host). In this contribution, we show that orchid populations that are patchily distributed and that exist in disturbance-prone environments may act somewhat like a metapopulation with high turnover and low correlation in population dynamics. We tested for evidence of metapopulation dynamics in the riparian orchid Lepanthes rupestris by sampling over 1000 sites (250 initially occupied, 750 initially unoccupied) in biannual surveys for 5 years. Extinction and colonization of groups of orchids on a single substrate or patch (either trees or boulders) was common and more or less consistent across different time periods, and asynchronous subpopulation dynamics were evident among the populations. From this we predict non-zero equilibrium values for site occupancy () of L. rupestris. Nevertheless, this study species differed from a typical Levins’ metapopulation system in that small populations were more likely to go extinct than large populations, and that colonization of previously occupied sites was more common than colonization of initially unoccupied sites suggesting that site quality may influence population persistence and colonization. A major difficulty applying the metapopulation approach to orchid conservation is identifying empty sites suitable for colonization. In spite of this limitation, our study highlights the necessity of following multiple orchid subpopulations (e.g., an entire orchid “metapopulation” in the broad sense) may provide a more accurate basis for predicting persistence in epiphytic orchids.  相似文献

A study was conducted on the effect of supplemental nitrogen (N) (20 hg/ha) applied as a foliar spray or to the soil on seed production, protein percentage, and protein fractions of rice. Plants were grown in a greenhouse over two different periods of time, i.e., August 1988 to January 1989 (Period I), and December 1988 to April 1989 (Period II). Nitrogen was applied to the leaves 10 and 20 days after anthesis (DAA), and to the soil at anthesis and at 15 DAA. Average temperature was 28.7°C during Period I and 32°C during Period II, corresponding to 18.7 and 22.0 growing degree‐day/day (GDD/day), respectively. The difference in GDD/day reduced the plant cycle from 130 days during Period I to 109 days during Period II. Plants grown during Period II had larger numbers of spikelets, a higher percentage of “full grown grains”;, and higher grain weight. Although percentage crude protein was about the same for the two periods, prolamin content was increased and the albumin+globulin fraction was decreased during Period II, but with no difference in glutelin content. The increase in number of spikelets, percent full grains, and grain weight appeared to result in a greater energy demand for plants grown during Period II. This may explain the increase in prolamins, since prolamin synthesis requires less energy than globulin or albumin synthesis. There was a simultaneous decrease in albumin and globulin synthesis during Period II. The content of glutelins, which represent the major reserve proteins in rice grains, was constant during both periods.  相似文献

Thermography is a tool used in many scientific disciplines, including agriculture. Determining the behavior of a nutritive solution in soilless culture containers using substrates is very important in order to establish the position of drippers, drainage holes, the use of humidification agents, and fertigation management in culture units. This paper describes the application of thermography to determine the humidification bulb in horticulture crops to rapidly diagnose the best way to advance fertigation in different horticultural substrates in soilless culture. Thermography was seen to be an excellent tool for evaluating the movement and distribution of the nutritive solution within the soilless culture container with different substrates.  相似文献

Multiple temperature-sensitive spots innervated by single nerve fibers   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Electrophysiological recordings were made from single nerve fibers which were specifically responsive to temperature changes of the skin of monkeys. Previous reports indicated that the receptive area on the skin of such preparations was a single small spot less than 1 millimeter in diameter. However, we found that the activity in a single thermally sensitive fiber increased when any one of eight individual spots on the skin was cooled. In other preparations two to six spots, each less than 1 millimeter in diameter, appeared to be innervated by a single fiber. The neural activity resulting from the cooling of one or several of these spots summed, and we suggest that this summation may be the neural analog of areal summation of thermal stimuli reported in psychophysical measurements.  相似文献

Pathogenic and non-pathogenic free-living amoebae from an activated-sludge plant were investigated. The greatest species diversity occurred in the raw, settled sewage and at the beginning of the aeration tank, whilst the lowest number of species occurred in the final sedimentation tanks. Thirteen species of free-living amoebae representing eleven genera were isolated; these included three species of Acanthamoeba (A. castellanii, A. culbertsoni and A. polyphaga), all of wich were pathogenic to mice with varying degrees of virulence. The implications for the public health risk of the presence of pathogenic free-living amoebae in activated-sludge plants are discussed.  相似文献
