This study attempted to assess the efficacy of mangrove‐derived marine yeasts as a source of immuno‐stimulant in the tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon. The shrimp was fed on the diets in supplementation with yeast biomass at 10% for a period of 15 days and then challenged with the pathogenic Vibrio cholerae. The animals were assessed for immune responses in terms of total haemocyte counts, phenol oxidase and endobiotics. Among the yeasts tested, Rhodotorula minuta was found to have high immunostimulatory effect in the shrimps especially after challenge with the pathogenic vibrio.  相似文献

The first full and comprehensive attempt was made to standardize the time of sampling for the leaf nutrient diagnosis for Kinnow mandarin in North West semi arid zone of India by analyzing ten essential elements collected from spring cycle leaves. The samples were collected from February to January at monthly intervals for two years and the results revealed that the 6–7 month (August–September) old spring cycle leaves collected from terminal position of non- fruiting terminal is the best suitable time for foliar nutrient analysis in Kinnow mandarin grown in the North West India. In addition, the leaf nutrient concentrations of nitrogen and calcium of this period were best correlated and leaf phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were least correlated with fruit yield by linear correlation analysis.  相似文献

Triadimefon is a triazole derivative, which have plant growth regulator properties. However, the influential mechanism of triadimefon on medicinal plants like Withania somnifera is not much studied. In the present investigation, the effects triadimefon at 10 mg L−1 on the germination, early seedling growth, photosynthetic pigments, non-enzymatic antioxidant contents and activities of antioxidant enzymes were studied in W. somnifera Dunal plants. The germination percentage was not much affected by treatments and early seedling growth was reduced in terms of shoot length and leaf area but root length got increased with a concomitant enhancement in chlorophyll contents. The non-enzymatic antioxidants like ascorbic acid, reduced glutathione and α-tocopherol were increased in all parts (root, stem and leaf) of the seedlings. Triadimefon treatment caused an increase in the activities of antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase and catalase. From our results it can be concluded that, the triadimefon can be used as a potential tool to enhance the antioxidant potential in medicinal plant W. somnifera.  相似文献

Peanut plays a key role to the livelihood of millions in the world especially in Arid and Semi-Arid regions. Peanut with high oleic acid content aids to increase shelf-life of peanut oil as well as food products and extends major health benefits to the consumers. In peanut, ahFAD2 gene controls quantity of two major fatty acids viz, oleic and linoleic acids. These two fatty acids together with palmitic acid constitute 90% fat composition in peanut and regulate the quality of peanut oil. Here, two ahfad2 alleles from SunOleic 95R were introgressed into ICGV 05141 using marker-assisted selection. Marker-assisted breeding effectively increased oleic acid and oleic to linoleic acid ratio in recombinant lines up to 44% and 30%, respectively as compared to ICGV 05141. In addition to improved oil quality, the recombinant lines also had superiority in pod yield together with desired pod/seed attributes. Realizing the health benefits and ever increasing demand in domestic and international market, the high oleic peanut recombinant lines will certainly boost the economical benefits to the Indian farmers in addition to ensuring availability of high oleic peanuts to the traders and industry.  相似文献

Late leaf spot (LLS) caused by Phaeoisariopsis personata is the major foliar disease that reduces the pod yield and severely affects the fodder and seed quality in groundnut. Molecular markers linked with LLS can improve the process of identification of resistant genotypes. In the present study, a LLS susceptible genotype (TMV 2) and the LLS resistant genotype (COG 0437) were crossed and their F2 population was used for marker analysis. The phenotypic mean data on F2:3 progenies were used as phenotype. Parents were surveyed with 77 SSR (Simple Sequence Repeat) primers to identify polymorphic markers. Among SSR markers, nine primers were found polymorphic between the parents TMV 2 and COG 0437. These markers were utilized for bulked segregant analysis (BSA). Among the polymorphic SSR markers, three primers viz., PM 375162, pPGPseq5D5220 and PM 384100 were able to distinguish the resistant and susceptible bulks and individuals for LLS. In single marker analysis, the markers PM 375, PM 384, pPGPseq5D5, PM 137, PM 3, PMc 588 and Ah 4-26 were linked with LLS severity score. The phenotypic variation explained by these markers ranged from 32 to 59?%. The markers identified through BSA were also confirmed with single marker analysis. While validating the three primers over a set of resistant and susceptible genotypes, the primer PM 384100 allele had association with resistance. Hence PM 384 could be utilized in the marker assisted breeding programme over a wide range of genetic background.  相似文献

The present investigation was undertaken to develop PRSV (Papaya ringspot virus) resistant hybrids through intergeneric hybridization. Intergeneric hybridization was done involving nine Carica papaya cultivars as female and Vasconcellea cauliflora as male. To break the intergeneric hybridization barrier, various nutrient combinations were used. Among the combinations used, sucrose 5%, sucrose 5% + boron 0.5% and sucrose 5% + CaCl2 0.5% improved the fruit set and seed set percentage. A total number of 1197 flowers were pollinated and 308 fruits were obtained. On extraction, 721 seeds were obtained from CO 7, Pusa Nanha and CP 50. Out of 721 F0 seeds (crossed seeds) sown, 419 seeds germinated and artificial screening for PRSV was carried out 27 days after sap inoculation. Out of 29 F1 hybrid plants from CO 7 x V. cauliflora cross, only six plants namely CO 7V1 to CO 7V6 were found free from PRSV symptoms. Similarly, out of 55 F1 hybrids from cross involving Pusa Nanha x V. cauliflora only 23 plants namely PNV1 to PNV23 were found free from the symptoms and 70 plants namely CPV1 to CPV70 out of 335 plants of CP50 x V. cauliflora cross were found free from PRSV symptoms. Among the crosses, Pusa Nanha x V. cauliflora had higher yield under PRSV infected conditions, however, total soluble solids and total sugars were found lesser than the CO 7 x V. cauliflora cross. The hybridity of the progenies were confirmed by using ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeats) primers by the amplification of DNA from progenies and their parents. ISSR primers UBC 856, UBC807 and ISSR primer combinations UBC 856-817, UBC 810-817, UBC 861-817, UBC 856-810, UBC 861-810 and UBC 856-817 clearly amplified specific bands of the male parent, which were present in F1 progenies, but it was absent in female parents.  相似文献

Leaching of heavy metals from coal fly ash dumpsites is an environmental threat often polluting both groundwater and surface water. This led to a detailed investigation on the cyto-genotoxicity and oxidative stress associated with the fly ash leachate (FL). Allium cepa L. bulbs were exposed to three concentrations of FL. Response to FL resulted in a reduction of root growth, inhibition of cell viability by up to 50%, and decrease in mitotic indices (control: 10.27; FA:water 1:4–4.52) with increased frequency of chromosome aberrations (5.7 fold) and bi-nucleate cells. Results of comet assay indicated that approximately sixfold increase in genotoxicity of FL was congruent with the endpoints of oxidative stress evaluated. The malondialdehyde content, superoxide dismutase, guaiacol peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase activities were elevated in the treated plants in a dose dependent manner. The elemental analysis of FL showed the presence of heavy metals like cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn). The study demonstrated that FL can cause adverse effects to the plants. Therefore, the disposal of coal fly ash should be handled with caution and prevented from contaminating the surroundings.  相似文献
