An Eutric Histosol soil was irrigated for 4 years with municipal wastewater to compare its characteristics with a soil under natural rainfall that had never received wastewater and a soil that was irrigated with normal tap water. Four years irrigation of the soil with wastewater caused significant (P<0.001) increase in dehydrogenase, urease, acid and alkaline phosphate activities and CO2 evolution, and reduced the redox potential (P<0.05). The influence of treatments and plant cover on soil properties were significant (P<0.05) under both salix and grasses, except for few properties (redox potential and urease and alkaline phosphatase activities). It is suggested that, although different toxicants, e.g. heavy metals, may accumulate in wastewater-treated soils, enrichment of soil with organic substances and nutrients stimulated CO2 evolution and enzyme activities in the irrigated soil.  相似文献

The changes of Eh and pH in soil suspension (Ah-horizon of a Mollic Gleysol) and Mn2+ or Fe2+ concentrations in the equilibrium soil solution at different levels of glucose (0%, 0.5% and 1%) and MnO2 (0%, 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%) or Fe2O3 (0%, 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%) were examined. It was found that the degree of Mn- and Fe-reduction in soil depends mainly on the presence and the amount of an easily decomposable carbon source and to a minor degree on the content of native or added forms of MnOO2 or Fe2O3 in the soil. Theoretical relationships between the water soluble manganese and iron and the Eh and pH values have been verified, when the observed initial drop of Eh was eliminated. It was found that the water soluble manganese content was described best by the Mn2O3/Mn2+ redox system, and that of iron by the Fe3 (OH)3/Fe2+ system.  相似文献

The changes of soil Eh and pH during decomposition of nitrates at different levels of glucose (0%; 0, 5% and 1.0%) and nitrates (0%; 0,5%; 1% and 2% KNO3) in water saturated soil samples (Ah horizon of a Mollic Gleysol) were examined. It was found that in the presence of 0–2% nitrates and 0,5–1% glucose in the soil with 1–2 days anaerobiosis at 20°C resulted in the increase of reduction processes and a decrease of redox potential up to 500 mV (Eh). Soil pH increased in the range of 2.5 units. The results from the model experiment - implying Eh > 200 mV and pH < 6.5 as range of nitrate stability in the soil studied - can be useful for field conditions both to predict the stability of nitrates in the soil environment and to create proper conditions for the effective use of carbon sources as a main factor of redox transformations.  相似文献

A number of closely related acid digestion procedures are proposed for the accurate analysis of animal tissue, plant tissue, sediment and particulate samples. A closed teflon vessel is employed to reduce contamination and to speed up digestion. Procedures which minimize evaporations should be employed where applicable. Hydrofluoric acid is essential when plant tissue, sediment and particulate material are to be dissolved. Accuracy and precision is assessed using standard reference samples.  相似文献
