This work is aimed at characterizing compost maturity and, organic matter transformation during this process, by the use of nondestructive spectroscopic and thermal techniques, together with some chemical analysis. Composting was conducted in a laboratory over a period of one year using the organic fraction of domestic wastes, fresh farmyard manure, spent coffee and sawdust as the raw materials. Samples were retired after different periods of composting and were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy as well as by routine chemical parameters including temperature, pH, C/N, ash content and humic-like substances content. Results showed that in case of domestic wastes, spent coffee and farmyard manure, the C/N ratios, ash and humic acid content showed a typical high rate of change during the first 197 days of composting and tended to stabilize thereafter, probably as a result of the maturity of the produced composts. In contrast, sawdust underwent only a very limited transformation even after one year of composting. Thermoanalytical and spectroscopic data confirms these finding and gives useful and complementary information with respect to the structure, the heterogeneity and the relative stability of the compost products. In particular, as the decomposition proceeded, there was an increase in aromatic to aliphatic structure ratio and a decrease in the importance of peptide structures of composts. Besides, both the spectroscopic and the thermal behavior of compost samples, retired beyond 197 days of composting, tended to be regular, less dependent on the raw material and close to that characterizing mature composts, with the exception of sawdust samples. We concluded that the spectroscopic and thermal techniques used are complementary to one another and to chemical tests and could be a powerful and fast approach for the study of compost maturity. 相似文献

ABSTRACTTwo leguminous plant species: Retama monosperma and Acacia gummifera were selected for water deficit tolerance test for future use in reforestation programs of the Atlantic sand dunes forest of Essaouira region. Mycorrhizal fungal colonization was used to help plants amend the water deficit. To assess R. monosperma and A. gummifera response to water stress and the effectiveness of mycorrhizal formation alleviating it, two categories for each plant species were made, one inoculated with mycorrhizal fungi and the other not, were submitted to a hydric deficit treatment of four levels for 6 months. This treatment impact on the plants was assessed by comparing root/shoot dry weight ratios, levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, and by measuring mycorrhizal colonization frequencies and intensities. Results showed that these parameters were significantly affected by water deficit. The presence of the mycorrhizal fungi had significantly enhanced plants phosphorus uptake by 72–124% for Acacia gummifera and 87–161% for Retama monosperma. Nitrogen uptake was increased by 134–388% for Retama monosperma and 510–901% for Acacia gummifera. The colonization frequencies changed significantly only for the treatment extreme level and stayed between 80%-90% for the other levels. The mycorrhization intensities showed significant lessening between each treatment level decreasing from 35% to 10%. 相似文献

A new Integrated Pest Management program based on the combination of synthetic pesticide with a GRAS(generally recognized as safe)-classified sanitizer for the control of Botrytis cinerea in field conditions was described. The aim behind this research was to determine whether the use of this mixture would enhance the efficiency of pesticides while decreasing the recommended dose. Naturally infected tomato plants, grown in the greenhouse, were treated with two commonly used fungicides SWITCH(Syngenta, Switzerland) and SIGNUM(BASF, Germany) each alone or combined with a commercially available organic sanitizer PERACLEAN?5(Evonik Industries, Germany). A total of 27 treatments were tested consisting of three concentrations of synthetic fungicide(×1, ×1/2 and ×1/4 of the recommended dose) either applied separately or combined with three concentrations of the tested sanitizer(0.5, 1 and 1.5%). The control efficacy achieved by the fungicides applied alone ranged between 0 and 66.7% while all fungicide-sanitizer mixtures resulted in up to 70% control of grey mould. The treatment that provides the maximum control of B. cinerea was the result mixture of ×1/4 of the recommended concentration of SWITCH(15 g L~(–1)) with 0.5% of PERACLEAN~?5. This combination suppressed 85% of grey mold infections while decreasing the usually used amount of this pesticide by 75%, reducing therefore the well known negative impacts of chemical pesticides on environment and consumers health. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The use of partially resistant cultivars should become an essential component of a sustainable management strategy of potato late blight, caused by Phytophthora infestans. It is therefore important to determine to what extent P. infestans populations can be selected for increased aggressiveness by potato cultivars with different levels of partial resistance. To this end, we sampled P. infestans populations from France and Morocco, chosen as locations where late blight occurs regularly but which differ in the distribution of potato cultivars. Cross-inoculation experiments were used to determine the aggressiveness of all populations to potato cvs. Bintje (prevalent in France but not grown in Morocco) and Désirée (popular in Morocco but cultivated to a very small extent in France). French populations were more aggressive on cv. Bintje than on cv. Désirée, irrespective of the site they were sampled from. Their aggressiveness increased between early and late samplings, suggesting that both cultivars selected for increased aggressiveness during epidemics. By contrast, Moroccan populations were more aggressive on Désirée, regarded as partially resistant in Europe, than on Bintje, highly susceptible under European conditions. These data indicate that P. infestans populations adapt to locally dominant cultivars, irrespective of their resistance levels, and can therefore overcome polygenic, partial resistance. This adaptive pattern may render partial resistance nondurable if not properly managed. 相似文献
