Many enzymes in plants have isozymes because the same catalytic reaction is often present in several subcellular compartments, most frequently the plastids and the cytosol. The number and subcellular locations of the isozymes appear to be highly conserved in plant evolution. However, gene duplication in diploid species and the addition of genomes in polyploid species have increased the number of isozymes.  相似文献

Two biotypes of the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb, were identified among five populations occurring in different regions in Israel. These biotypes originated from Sour orange and Troyer citrange roots and differed in their ability to infestPoncirus trifoliata hybrids (particularly Troyer citrange). They appear to be close to two recognized biotypes known to be present in other countries and designated as the “Poncirus” and “Mediterranean” biotypes. The different infectivity of the two biotypes on Troyer citrange roots was maintained even after they were cultured for 6 months on Sour orange. Both biotypes readily reproduced on persimmon, but failed to infest olive and grapevine. Two newP. trifoliata x Poorman orange hybrids exhibited good resistance to both biotypes.  相似文献

Rain event samples have been collected in Haifa, Israel, for nine hydrological years 1981 to 1990. Precipitation amount, pH, SO4 =, NO3 ?, Cl?, NH4 +, Na+, K+, Ca++, Mg++ and alkalinity of rainwater samples were recorded. The sampling and analysis program was based on WMO recommendations for background networks. The sampling was performed manually, and the analysis was based on wet chemistry for ions and atomic absorptions for metals. Data of 187 rain samples showed that the average pH was 5.3±1.1∶ 26% of the rain events were below pH of 5.6 and 23% above pH of 7.0. Some simple chemical mass-balance considerations indicate that natural sources, sea salt and soil carbonates are the main contributors to rain chemistry. However, the presence of low pH events observed over the years suggests that the impact of anthropogenic emissions may overwhelm the buffering capacity of the alkaline aerosol.  相似文献

The analysis of line-of-sight residual accelerations from Lunar Orbiters 3 and 5 does not show any evidence for large mascons near the lunar limbs. Although unfavorable geometry reduces the acceleration effect due to any mascon near the limb, simulations show that large masses at Mare Orientale and Mare Marginis would produce substantial accelerations, in complete disagreement with the actual Doppler tracking data obtained from a Lunar Orbiter experiment.  相似文献

Gravity measurements at high resolution were obtained over a 100-kilometer band from + 70 degrees to -70 degrees of longitude during the orbits of low periapsis altitude (approximately 16 kilometers). The line-of-sight accelerations are plotted on Aeronautical Chart and Information Center mercator charts (scale 1 : 1,000,000) as contours at 10-milligal intervals. Direct correlations between gravity variations and surface features are easily determined. Theophilus, Hipparchus, and Ptolemaeus are negative features, whereas Mare Nectaris is a large positive region. The acceleration profiles over Mare Nectaris are suggestive of a broad disk near the surface rather than a deeply buried spherical body. These data are in good agreement with the short arc of Apollo 12 lunar module descent data.  相似文献

Large-amplitude electron density oscillations were observed on a Be(0001) surface by means of variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. Fourier transforms of the images showed a ring of radius 2kF, where kF is the Fermi wave vector of the Be(0001) surface state. This wavelength was expected from Friedel oscillations caused by electronic screening of surface defects, but the amplitude of the waves for energies near the Fermi energy was anomalously large and inconsistent with the Friedel concept of screening. The enhanced amplitude of the waves must be a many-body effect, either in the electron gas (possibly an incipient charge density wave) or in the response of the lattice (electron-phonon coupling).  相似文献

The blood of a patient with a deficiency of hexokinase in the red cells and a decreased concentration of 2, 3-diphosphoglycerate in the red cells showed an increased affinity for oxygen, whereas a patient with a deficiency of pyruvate kinase and an elevated concentration of 2, 3-diphosphoglycerate in the red cells had blood with a decreased affinity for oxygen. Defects in red cell glycolysis may alter the oxygen affinity of blood by virtue of their effect on 2, 3-diphosphoglycerate concentrations in red cells.  相似文献

Circulatory and muscle metabolic responses were studied in 10 horses which all performed incremental draught work at a low trotting speed on a treadmill (D-test) and also exercise with gradually increasing velocities (S-test). Exercise was continued until the horses could no longer maintain the weights above the floor or maintain speed trotting without changing gait to a gallop. Muscle biopsies were taken from the gluteus and the semitendinosus muscles before, and immediately after, exercise. The heart rate (HR) increased linearly with both increasing draught resistance and velocity and reached mean values of 212 and 203 beats/min, respectively. Blood lactate levels increased exponentially to mean values of 12.9 and 7.9 mmol/litre in the two tests. Both HR and blood lactate levels were significantly higher at the cessation of work in the D-test compared to the S-test. The relationship between HR and blood lactate response in the S-test was similar to that in the D-test. The red cell volume was determined after a standardised exercise tolerance test and was significantly correlated both to the weightloading and to the velocity, producing a HR of 200 beats/min. The changes seen in muscle glycogen and glucose-6-phosphate were similar in the two tests, whereas significantly higher lactate levels and lower creatine phosphate and adenosine triphosphate levels were seen in the D-test compared to the S-test. It was concluded that high oxidative capacity is of importance both for fast trotting and for draught work.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献
