This research aims to investigate the relationship between the solvent retention capacity (SRC) test and quality assessment of hard red spring (HRS) wheat flour samples obtained from 10 HRS cultivars grown at six locations in North Dakota. The SRC values were significantly (P < 0.05) correlated with flour chemical components (protein, gluten, starch, and damaged starch contents, except arabinoxylan); with farinograph parameters (stability [FST], water absorption, peak time [FPT], and quality number); and with breadmaking parameters (baking water absorption [BWA], bread loaf volume [BLV], and symmetry). Differences in locations and cultivars contributed significantly to variation in quality parameters and SRC values. Suitability of SRC parameters for discriminatory analysis of HRS wheat flour is greatly influenced by molecular weight distribution (MWD) of SDS‐unextractable proteins. SRC parameters, except for sucrose SRC, showed significant (P < 0.01) and positive correlations with high‐molecular‐weight (HMW) polymeric proteins in SDS‐unextractable fractions, whereas only lactic acid SRC exhibited significant (P < 0.01) correlations with low‐molecular‐weight polymeric proteins. HMW polymeric proteins also exhibited positive associations with FPT, FST, BWA, and BLV. The discrepant variation in association of SRC parameters with respect to MWD of SDS‐unextractable proteins could improve segregation of HRS wheat flour samples for quality.  相似文献

Juri is a biodiversity-rich primary forest in Bangladesh, which remains ecologically unexplored. We identified tree species and examined the richness, alpha(a)diversity and floristic similarity patterns within the identified communities. Vegetation and environmental data were sampled in 120(0.04 ha) study plots. Tree communities were delimited by two-way indicator species analysis(TWINSPAN). In total, 78 tree species of 35 families and58 genera were identified. TWINSPAN identified six tree communities: A—Tricalysia singularis; B—Kydia calycina-Castanopsis tribuloides; C—Polyalthia simiarum-Duabanga grandiflora; D—Ficus roxburghii; E—Artocarpus lacucha; F—Artocarpus lacucha. Mean richness, Shannon and Gini-Simpson indices were highest for the Polyalthia simiarum-Duabanga grandiflora community, while Ficus roxburghii showed lowest diversity. Significant differences(p = 0.05) in three diversity indices were recorded between Polyalthia simiarum-Duabanga grandiflora and Ficus roxburghii. Tree compositional similarity was greatest between Kydia calycina-Castanopsis tribuloides and Polyalthia simiarum-Duabanga grandiflora(0.712).  相似文献

Objective

To compare the analgesic efficacy and suitability of an existing oral tramadol-based protocol with a transdermal fentanyl-based protocol following lateral thoracotomy in dogs.

Study design

Prospective randomized clinical trial.

Animals

A group of 16 healthy laboratory beagle dogs.

Methods

Dogs were randomly allocated to one of two treatment groups: group F (intramuscular methadone 0.2 mg kg–1 and transdermal fentanyl 2.6 mg kg–1 both administered on discontinuation of anaesthesia, n = 8) or group T (intramuscular methadone 0.2 mg kg–1 on discontinuation of anaesthesia and again 4 hours later, followed by oral tramadol 12 mg kg–1 per 24 hours commencing 7 hours after discontinuation of anaesthesia, n = 8). Intercostal bupivacaine (0.5–1 mg kg–1) and subcutaneous carprofen (4 mg kg–1) were administered to all dogs at induction. Body weight (BW), presence of clinical signs, pain score, activity, heart rate (HR) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) were assessed for 72 hours postoperatively.

Results

No significant differences were observed in BW change, presence of clinical signs or gross locomotor activity between groups. Pain scores were low at all times for all dogs, and rescue analgesia was not required. Dogs in group T exhibited higher pedometric activity (p = 0.006), HR (p < 0.001) and MAP (p < 0.001) than those in group F, in particular on night 1 following surgery. Least squared mean (LSM) pedometric activity was 1.81 and 1.02 jerks minute–1, LSM HR was 111.13 and 78.64 beats minute–1 and LSM MAP was 111.62 and 105.24 mmHg, respectively, in groups T and F.

Conclusions and clinical relevance

Both regimes appear to provide adequate analgesia following lateral thoracotomy in dogs. Ease of administration of transdermal fentanyl compared to oral tramadol is advantageous. Reduced activity observed with the fentanyl regime was not associated with any adverse effects and may be desirable following some invasive surgeries. However, while transdermal fentanyl remains currently unavailable in the European Union, the oral tramadol-based regime provides an acceptable alternative.  相似文献

The form of nitrogen (N) supply has a significant impact on rhizosphere chemistry and root growth responses of higher plants. The respective effects are also employed as management options to improve nutrient acquisition and to minimize nutrient losses in cropping systems. However, surprisingly little is known concerning the interactions with rhizosphere biota. In this study, we investigated the effects of selected bacterial and fungal inoculants with proven plant growth‐promoting and phosphate (P)‐solubilizing potential (plant growth‐promoting microorganisms, PGPM) in maize with nitrate or stabilized ammonium supply, on soils with limited P availability and sparingly soluble rock phosphate (Rock‐P) applied as P fertilizer. The combination of the bacterial inoculants Pseudomonas sp. DSMZ 13134 (Proradix) and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens FZB42 with ammonium sulphate fertilization, stabilized with the nitrification inhibitor 3,4‐dimethylpyrazole‐phosphate (DMPP), resulted in a superior shoot biomass production (79–111%) and shoot P accumulation (109–235%) as compared with nitrate supply. This effect could be partially attributed to (1) ammonium‐induced rhizosphere acidification via increased root extrusion of protons, (2) promotion of root hair elongation, and (3) increased shoot concentrations of hormonal growth regulators (indole‐3‐acetic acid, zeatin, gibberellic acid). The effects, induced by the microbial inoculants were mainly related to increased root length development (43–44%), associated with a 60% increase in auxin production potential. No inoculant effects were detected on root hair elongation or on chemical modifications of the rhizosphere involved in P solubilisation, such as rhizosphere acidification, release of carboxylates or secretory phosphohydrolases. However, the ammonium‐induced stimulation of root hair elongation increased preferential sites for root colonization by the selected inoculants, which may explain the increase in rhizosphere abundance of PGPMs, exemplarily recorded for the fungal inoculant Trichoderma harzianum OMG16 (210%). The presented data suggest a network of positive interactions between stabilized ammonium fertilization and plant growth‐promoting functions of various bacterial and fungal PGPM inoculants. This offers perspectives to increase the efficiency and the reproducibility of PGPM‐assisted fertilization strategies.  相似文献

Background: Haemonchosis is a major economic problem in goat production in humid, tropical and subtropical regions. The disease is caused by an abomasal nematode, Haemonchus contortus, which is highly pathogenic in small ruminants. The aim of this study was to identifying single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) that were associated with fecal egg counts(FEC) and could be used as markers to identify resistance to H. contortus in goats. Results: Ten novel variants in the CI TA, ATP2 A3, HSPA8, STAT5 B, ESYT1, and SERPING1 genes were associated with FEC in goats with a nominal significance level of P 0.05. Two missense mutation in the exon region of the caprine CI TA gene resulted in replacement of arginine with cysteine at position 9473550(R9473550 C) and aspartic acid with glutamic acid at position 9473870(D9473870 E). Chinese goat breeds had significantly higher FEC than Bangladeshi goat breeds within their respective genotypes. Polymorphism information content(PIC), effective al ele number(Ne), and heterozygosity(He)were greatest for the STAT5 B_197_A G SNP locus in al goat breeds. Pairwise coefficients of linkage disequilibrium(D′, r~2)revealed complete LD(r~2= 1) between significant SNP polymorphisms in CI TA and SERPING1 and strong LD(r~2= 0.93 and0.98) between polymorphisms in HSPA8 and ATP2 A3, respectively. Correlation coefficient(r) between FEC and body weight(BW) was significantly positive(r = 0.56***, P 0.001) but that between FEC and packed cel volume(PCV) was negatively significant(r =-0.47**, P 0.01) in the total population of goats. On the other hand, correlation coefficient(r)between BW and PCV was not significant in total population of goats. Association analysis revealed that haplotypes within ATP2 A3, HSPA8, and SERPING1 were significantly associated with FEC. Quantitative real-time PCR revealed that the relative expression of m RNA was higher(P 0.001) for resistant, compared to susceptible, groups of goats for al candidate genes except CI TA.Conclusions: This study identified SNP markers that can potential y be used in marker-assisted selection programs to develop goat breeds that are resistant to H. contortus.  相似文献

A study was conducted on small-scale enterprises based on murta (Schumannianthus dichotoma (Sal.) Willd.) in Gowainghat upazila (sub-district) to investigate their nature, profitability and sustainability. The study area was selected purposively while a general random sampling method was followed to select individual respondents. About 94% people are involved in murta-based enterprises and there is a clear division of labour between males and female. Almost 80% of the manufacturing work is done by females. The average annual income of the artisans is Tk.65733 (USD 939) and 62% of the total income comes from murta-based small enterprises. Fresh water swamp forest and homestead forest are the major sources of raw materials and cost of raw materials ranges from Tk.127 for simple dining mats to Tk.188 for coloured bed mats. Net average profit per article ranges from Tk.127 to Tk.250. However, the sustainability of these enterprises is at risk, due in particular to shortage of raw materials and lack of supportive government policy.  相似文献
