Preplanting application of phenolic compounds, p-hydroxybenzoic acid p-coumaric acid and ferulic acid, in most cases promoted auxin-induced rooting on cuttings of mango, a difficult-to-root fruit plant. The ethylene-releasing chemical CEPA (ethrel, ethephon) also stimulated rooting in the presence of auxins. Synergism was more pronounced in the presence of IBA than with IAA. To a certain extent, root-promoting effects of auxins and non-auxin chemicals were related to the utilization of carbohydrate fractions from the region of root formation. Utilization of reserve polysaccharides assumed greater importance only during the root-development phase. 相似文献

Laboratory and field studies were conducted to find out the effect of test solution composition on the hydraulic conductivity of different soils. Results show that the nature and degree of permeability changes, differ with soil texture, nature of exchangeable cations and composition of the saturating solution. Hydraulic conductivity was more stable in a sodic-soil of heavier texture as compared to soils of lighter texture which underwent drastic changes in permeability. These differences were probably because of the ease with which dispersion or formation of floccules took place in different soils. The results bear out the possibility of using poor quality irrigation waters for the reclamation of saline-sodic soils. Application of a calcium amendment will, however, be most desirable to maintain reasonable permeability for removing excess salts. 相似文献

Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) has been designated as a candidate species for open sea cage culture in India. A case of vibriosis in Asian seabass reared in open sea floating cages is reported. Haemorrhage and ulcer were observed grossly in the diseased fish. The pathogen, identified as Vibrio alginolyticus based on biochemical and molecular characterization, was isolated from liver, gill, kidney, brain and blood. Histological examination of the diseased fish showed congestion, haemorrhage and necrosis in vital organs. The LD50 studies showed that the organism was virulent to Asian seabass, and the LD50 value was 103.2 CFU g?1 fish. 相似文献

In the last few years in maize stalk and ear rots caused by fusarium spp. was increasing, often causing contamination with mycotoxins. Most prevalent was fusarium graminearum, mainly producing Deoxynivalenol (DON) in kernels and stalk. DON is suspected to cause several diseases in humans and livestock. In our study, injection of conidial suspension in the silk channel was the most successful method for artificial inoculation. Due to significant differences between several hybrids, it could be concluded that resistance against the fungus is genetically controlled. Intensity of resistance is varying extremely, depending on environment. The mycotoxin concentration of the kernels was positively correlated with percentage of visible infected kernels, obtaining levels up to 95?ppm. Susceptible hybrids even showed in the rest plant extremely high levels of DON (up to 60?ppm). Naturally infected plants showed high mycotoxin concentrations above and below the main ear, exceeding the recommended level of forage for cattle. High mycotoxin levels in kernels and rest plants show the importance of resistance breeding against fusarium. 相似文献

The ethanolic extract of Leucas aspera root was subjected to acetic acid induced writhing inhibition, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay and brine shrimp lethality bioassay for screening of antinociceptive, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity, respectively. The extract produced significant writhing inhibition in acetic acid induced writhing in mice at the doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg. The extract showed a significant free radical scavenging activity with an IC(50) of 8 microg/ml. The extract showed significant lethality to brine shrimp with an LC(50) value. 相似文献

Stocking density is an important factor in cage aquaculture of finfish. Effects of high stocking density (35 fish cubic m?1) on a range of biochemical and immunological parameters in Asian seabass reared in open sea floating net cages were compared to fish held in relatively low density (15 fish cubic m?1). The results revealed that chronic stress due to high stocking density induced variations in most of the parameters studied as evidenced by increased cortisol and glucose levels and decreased activity of lysozyme, myeloperoxidase and complement. Production of reactive oxygen species, total leucocyte count and total serum protein were also decreased, whereas anti-protease, alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase activities were increased in high stocking-density group when compared to low stocking-density group. Effects of chronic stress due to high stocking density were discussed in relation to variations in these parameters. 相似文献

Abstract
Pretreatment of stock plants with cycocel or ethrel induced rooting on cuttings and air layers of mango (Mangifera indica L.), a difficult-to-root fruit plant which normally does not regenerate roots. Application of IBA to the cuttings and air layers made from pretreated shoots improved rooting, cycocel pretreatment being more effective than ethrel. Morphactin pretreatment inhibited rooting, fully counteracting the auxin-induced rooting. 相似文献
