The application of artificial insemination techniques as a way to overcome the lack of mating of the closed thelycum Farfantepenaeus paulensis under large scale conditions is reported. The performance of artificially inseminated females (49.4±11.6 g) maintained in conventional versus unisex maturation systems was compared. Groups of unilaterally eyestalk-ablated females were artificially inseminated with one compound spermatophore soon after molting. The percentage of fertilized spawns increased from 26% before the use of artificial insemination to 57% afterwards. The reproductive performance of inseminated females held in conventional or unisex maturation systems showed no significant differences. Artificial insemination was considered a practical approach to overcome the lack of mating of F. paulensis under large-scale conditions with acceptable reproductive performance. The results also indicate the possibility of holding females separately from males, which could mean significant improvements in maturation systems through the increase in the stocking density of spawning females.  相似文献

The use of the same water over multiple culture cycles in a biofloc technology system can be highly beneficial. This study evaluated the effect of different levels of biofloc‐rich water on selected water quality indicators and on the productive performance of Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, juveniles (3.5 g) stocked at 312 juveniles/m3 and cultured under conditions of no water exchange. The study was performed over a 30‐d period in an 800‐L tank system. A total of four biofloc enrichment levels (25, 50, 75, and 100%) and control (0%) were tested with three replicates each. Significant differences in nitrogen compounds were found between the biofloc‐enriched water and the zero‐enrichment treatment. No statistically significant differences among the biofloc‐enriched treatments were found in survival, final weight (8.25 g), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (1.08). The shrimp raised in clear seawater (i.e., a 0% biofloc enrichment) were significantly smaller (7.37 g vs. 8.25 g) and showed a higher FCR (1.52 vs. 1.08) than the shrimp cultured in the biofloc‐rich water. Nevertheless, no differences in yields were found between treatments. The results of this study suggest that culture in biofloc‐enriched water produces higher levels of water quality and shrimp performance than culture in natural seawater.  相似文献

The present study aims to define the stocking density limits for each stage of Litopenaeus vannamei culture, considering that the system’s carrying capacity is able to maintain the water quality parameters at desired levels. This study was divided into four phases according to the size: phase 1, shrimp were stocked with initial weight of 0.002 g; phase 2, initial weight of 1.04 g; phase 3, initial weight of 6.09 g; and phase 4, initial weight of 12.51 g. Each phase lasted for 40 days, and the treatments applied were the different stocking densities. All stages were cultured in biofloc technology system (BFT). The results demonstrate that the shrimp stocking density affects the productive parameters, such as final weight, survival, apparent FCR, and yields for all the different phases. In addition, using a quadratic regression, the maximum stocking density for each tested phase was estimated. Also, the present study revealed that even with the ideal water quality parameters, the production was limited by the carrying capacity, which reached, e.g., 14 kg.m??3 at phase 4.

We analyzed the effect of commercial bacterial probiotics on a Litopenaeus vannamei biofloc culture system infected with Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Three replicates of two experimental treatments were conducted: a control system (without probiotic) and a system with the application of a multistrain probiotic containing Bacillus spp., Enterococcus spp., Thiobacillus spp., and Paracoccus spp. applied to the water and another multistrain probiotic containing Bacillus spp., Enterococcus spp., and Lactobacillus spp. added to the feed. Growth and survival rate were significantly higher in the probiotic treatment group (P < 0.05), and the shrimp in the probiotic group also had a lower (P < 0.05) FCR compared to the shrimp in the control group (1.4 vs. 2.7).  相似文献

Marine shrimp culture at southern Brazil is restricted to the warmer season (November to April). Therefore, farmers must consider culture strategies and competition with shrimp landings from artisanal fishery. The fishing season starts every 1 February; in order to obtain higher prices, farmers may consider shrimp culture in two crops, with a first harvest before the start of the fishing season, and a second harvest after the end of the landings. The present study evaluated the performance and feasibility of Litopenaeus vannamei reared at 10, 25 and 40 shrimp m−2 either in two short consecutive culture cycles or one longer cycle (LC). The experimental design consisted of two sets of nine pens installed in a 3.8 ha earthen pond. In one set of pens, shrimp were harvested after 75 days and pens were restocked for another 75-day-long rearing period. In the second set of pens, shrimp were cultured for 150 days. Shrimp survival and final weight ranged from 79% to 91% and 6.67 to 14.53 g respectively. Feasibility analysis pointed towards culture at higher densities (25 and 40 shrimp m−2) in a LC as productivity (2274–4227 kg ha−1) and shrimp final weight (13.05–13.21 g) resulted in higher profitability (US$7761–12 379).  相似文献
