Larvae (fry) of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) were successfully reared from the mouth-opening stage to the age of 120 days being fed only on frozen zooplankton (Rotifera, Copopoda and Daphnia). This inert food is well accepted when left in the water less than 4 h after being thawed, but is rejected afterwards. The larval development can be compared to that obtained by artificial food and the survival rate is similar to that obtained by living plankton.  相似文献

Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate feed discrimination and preference of European sea bass Dicentrarchus labrax L., taking into account the effects of feed location, previous feeding experience and light conditions. Fish (63 g) were held in tanks and exposed to a 12L:12D photoperiod and ambient temperature. The following feeding practices were applied in triplicate: three‐choice feeding (self‐ feeding with feeds formulated for carnivorous, herbivorous and omnivorous fish rotated on a weekly basis) and monofeeding (self‐feeding with one of these feeds). After 9 weeks (phase I), fish previously held in monofeeding, were subjected to three‐choice feeding for 2 weeks (phase II). In phase I, fish discriminated between feeds after their rotational displacements and preferred the feed formulated for carnivorous species. This also supported the best growth. Fish used in phase II preferred the same feed. There was no preference for any location within tanks. Feeding was generally diurnal, although in some tests with the feeds for herbivores and omnivores, diurnal and nocturnal feed demands were similar and fewer in number than with the feed formulated for carnivores.  相似文献

Fatty acids in muscle of wild and farmed red porgy, Pagrus pagrus   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The total fat content and the fatty acids of total lipids (TL), phospholipids (PL) and triacylglycerols (TAG) were analysed in white muscle from wild and reared red porgy, Pagrus pagrus (L.). The fat percentage was higher in reared (3.03 ± 0.57%) (mean ± SE) than wild (0.65 ± 0.03%) fish. The fatty acid pattern of reared porgy TL reflected the diet's lipid. Wild red porgy showed higher levels of ω3 and ω6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) than reared, but both the atherogenic index and the index of thrombogenicity were very low for both wild and reared red porgy. The lipid fractions showed that the PL were composed of very high levels of PUFA, especially 22:6ω3, and their composition seemed to be better regulated than the composition of TAG. TAG showed greater differences between wild and reared fish, presumably because they reflected the dietary content of lipids. PUFA were the principal component of wild red porgy TAG.  相似文献

The “pseudo green water” technology for sea bream(Sparus aurata) larval rearing was evaluated by analyzingresults of a 2-year study, performed in a pilot scale system. Thetechnology is characterized by the daily addition of phytoplankton in therearing tanks during the first month of rearing. Effects of egg origin,spawningseason and initial larval density on the larval rearing were investigated. Fishreared in “pseudo green water” systems for 60 days, presented highbiological performance in terms of survival (56 ± 16%), meanweight (62 ± 12 mg), total length (20 ± 1mm), conformity with wild standard (88 ± 9%), andfunctional swim bladder (93 ± 4%). The results present homogenitybetween the categories (origin of eggs, time of spawning, initial egg density)studied, proving the stability of the technology.  相似文献

In the current paper we present the rearing methodology of common dentex (Dentex dentex), a promising candidate for Mediterranean marine aquaculture, from the larval to the on-growing phase. The influence of stocking density and feeding regime on the growth of red porgy was studied during winter and spring 1997. Fish were held in 500-L tanks at densities of either 50 or 100 fish per tank, and were fed by means of self-feeders under 6 h restricted (day or night) or free-access feeding regimes. Fish were tagged individually, and weight gain was recorded by individual weighing every second week over an 8-week period during each season. In winter, growth was influenced by feeding time. Fish tended to grow best when fed without restriction and worst when fed at night, although differences were not significant when tank means were compared. Stocking density was influential in the spring trial. Fish stocked at low density and feeding freely grew better than high-density fish that fed either freely or at night. The division of fish into three size classes revealed that, within each treatment, no differences occurred among classes, but growth of fish belonging to the same class was influenced by rearing conditions. No significant differences were found among feeding regimes in terms of the coefficients of weight variation ratio (CVf:CVi) and feed efficiency.  相似文献

Diel rhythms in serum glucose, lactate, cholesterol, triglycerides and thyroid hormones were studied in red porgy, Pagrus pagrus, held under different photoperiod regimes (constant darkness – DD, 8L:16D,12L:12D), at a constant temperature (17.1–18.7 °C) and fed with commercial pellets, by means of a self-feeder. A clear diurnal rhythm in feeding activity, regardless of the photoperiod regime was demonstrated. All serum components showed significant diel rhythms, although they were not necessarily consistent or circadian in periodicity. As well as this, differences in the average values among the varying treatments were observed. Fish held under the 12L:12D protocol displayed significantly higher average T4, T3 and lactate levels during the day rather than at night. Maximum glucose values occurred 8–12 h after dawn and maximum lactate concentrations at 06:00 or 14:00 h. Diel variations in cholesterol were evident only in the DD group with peak values inversely correlated with the rhythm of food intake. Triglycerides displayed a similar pattern of changes. Significant diel fluctuations in T4 serum levels were observed only in fish exposed to the 12L:12D protocol, with peak values at dawn. A clear diurnal peak (10:00 h) in T3 concentrations was observed in fish subjected to the 12L:12D regime, while fish exposed to the 8L:16D protocol showed two peaks: one in the photophase (10:00 h) and another in the scotophase (02:00 h). The light–dark alternation and the general activity rhythm of fish seem to be the main synchronizers of the diel rhythms observed in this study.  相似文献

Five cultures of microalgae (Chlorella minutissima, Tetraselmis chui, Nannochloropsis sp., Arthrospira platensis and Isochrysis sp.) with no culturable bacteria were tested for their ability to inhibit the growth of six Vibrio bacterial strains (V. parahaemolyticus, V. anguillarum, V. splendidus, V. scophthalmi, V. alginolyticus and V. lentus). The influence of light on the antibacterial activity of the microalgae was investigated. All microalgae cultures inhibited the growth of bacteria compared with the control treatments (P < 0.05), and their antibacterial activity was not influenced by the presence or absence of light. In the control groups, the numbers of bacteria increased exponentially during the experimental period in the absence of microalgae cells demonstrating that the bacterial cells were able to utilize the growth medium of microalgae cultures. The present results may explain the low levels or absence of Vibrio strains in microalgae cultures, and the positive effect of addition of microalgae in rearing of fish larvae, and implicate the production of antibacterial compounds by microalgae cells.  相似文献

Dominance is a strong behaviour exhibited by farmed species that very often impinges on fish growth and welfare. This study presents a behavioural approach of dominance, where colour pattern differentiation was tested as a signal of dominance presence in small sea bream population. The phenotype of dominance was first described in detail, referring to vertical dark stripes and splayed fins. Fish were kept in triplicate tanks for 21 days, during which they were exposed to three feeding conditions (well fed, limited fed and no‐fed) and continuous video recordings. Each tank was stocked with 15 individuals (~30.34 ± 1.70 g), and they were confined to the half volume of the tank via a removable net pen. Percentage of dominants per population was found up to 40%, while duration was calculated to 53.52 ± 7.44 s. Dominance behaviour was further quantified via colour pattern differentiation on sea bream body (CDA, contrast of dominance appearance). The results demonstrated that the body colour of sea bream is directly linked to species social hierarchies and such variations are visual signal of dominance rank inside the population. The fish feeding conditions had an influence on the dominance presence, but not on the dominance rank (as measured by the CDA) between fish groups. The described study provides state‐of‐the‐art knowledge on sea bream dominance. In relevance to aquaculture, dominance quantification would be a reliable tool to evaluate non‐equal food distribution in tank‐held populations, thus, avoid non‐regulate growth performance of fish before transfer to sea‐cage installations.  相似文献
