The HathiTrust repository contains agricultural Experiment Station and Extension Service publications from all 50 of the United States. But to freely display the post-1923 documents, HathiTrust requires a Permission Agreement form giving them a nonexclusive permission to distribute from the copyright holder. Agriculture librarians are encouraged to obtain signed Permission Agreement forms for the agricultural publications in HathiTrust from their state. Time studies were conducted on the various steps in the digitization, quality control and ingestion into a DSpace institutional repository of Texas Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletins. The average time to scan each page was 0.92 minutes. The time to create Dublin Core metadata, assign NALT subject terms, and do item quality control of images was 20.48 minutes per item. PDF file creation was 16.4 minutes per item on average. The time to create a DSpace batch load for automated ingestion was 1.34 minutes. The time to do quality control checking on ingested items and publish the items was 2.03 minutes 相似文献

A series of six 0.04 ha ponds that had received varying rates of organic fertilization during 1976 and 1977 were each stocked with 200 Tilapia nilotica for a 3.5 month period during the 1978 growing season. Slotted feeding floors were placed over five of the six ponds and two growing-finishing hogs were placed on each feeding floor. The sixth pond received neither manure nor supplemental feed. Growth of T. nilotica was most rapid in ponds that had a history of relatively high manuring rates. Condition factors paralleled fish growth. Survival was 75% or more in each of the ponds with no apparent correlation between percent survival and history of manuring. Water quality was similar and acceptable for tilapia in each of the six ponds. The data indicated that a stocking rate of 50 hogs/ha can result in high fish yields; and that the history of a pond's experimental use influences subsequent experimental results. 相似文献

To assist agricultural librarians in their new role as digital preservation and distribution specialists, this article documents the basic procedures for scanning and digitizing print agricultural serial publications and submitting them to a DSpace digital repository, through a case study of a project at Texas A&M University Libraries to digitize Texas Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletins. It is hoped that a dispersed network of similar agricultural materials in all the various land grant university digital repositories could be crawled to harvest the metadata records and make them accessible in a central user-friendly digital library for agriculture. 相似文献

Fingerling Tilapia aurea were reared for 90 days in three 1.0 m3 floating cages in seawater (36 ppt) at Lee Stocking Island, Bahamas. Fish stocking density (100, 200 and 400 fish/m3 ) apparently did not affect growth rate but it appears salinity inhibited growth. Daily weight gain and specific growth rate (G) averaged 0.34 g/day and l.08%/day, respectively, for Tilapia aurea fingerlings. Infection of the Tilapia aurea by Bacillus sp. was associated with a significant number of mortalities. The relatively low growth rate and the high incidence of disease and mortality of Tilapita aures in seawater indicate that it may not be a good candidate for cage culture in full-strength seawater. 相似文献
