Building on the early works of Alfred Marshall, analyses of local economies have emphasized the spatial function of clusters and industrial districts in terms of external economies of localization and agglomeration. Recent literature has emphasized the importance of culture and the complementarities between culture and local tangible and intangible assets. This paper aims to provide an analytical foundation for these processes with a view to developing tools for policy design, analysis and evaluation. By “system‐wide cultural districts,” we refer to a new approach to local development where cultural production and participation present significant strategic complementarities with other production chains. In this view, culture drives the accumulation of intangible assets such as human, social, and cultural/symbolic capital, thereby fostering economic and social growth and environmental sustainability.  相似文献

The airway epithelium plays an essential role in innate immunity to lung pathogens. Ribonucleoprotein particles primarily composed of major vault protein (MVP) are highly expressed in cells that encounter xenobiotics. However, a clear biologic function for MVP is not established. We report here that MVP is rapidly recruited to lipid rafts when human lung epithelial cells are infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and maximal recruitment is dependent on bacterial binding to the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator. MVP was also essential for optimal epithelial cell internalization and clearance of P. aeruginosa. These results suggest that MVP makes a substantial contribution to epithelial cell-mediated resistance to infection.  相似文献

A fast-response and interference-free amperometric biosensor based on choline oxidase immobilized onto an electropolymerized polypyrrole film for flow injection determination of choline in milk, milk powder, and soy lecithin hydrolysates is described. The sensor displayed an Imax value of 1.9 +/- 0.2 microA and an apparent Michaelis-Menten constant, k'M, equal to 1.75 +/- 0.07 mM. Detection limits of 0.12 microM could be obtained. Because even a slight deterioration of the anti-interference membrane can adversely affect measurement accuracy, a real time monitoring of the biosensor selectivity has been achieved by a dual Pt electrode flow-through cell where the enzyme modified electrode is coupled to an enzyme-free electrode in a parallel configuration. Finally, bracketing technique (alternate injections of sample and standards) allows a two-point calibration to be performed in real-time, correcting for any drift in sensor response.  相似文献

The volatiles produced by leaves and fruits of Olea europaea cv. Olivastra Seggianese have been analyzed in two different phenological stages. Furthermore, the volatiles of the virgin olive oil obtained from ripe fruits has been characterized. The volatiles were sampled by means of two different techniques: hydrodistillation and SPME. Differences were observed between the two different collection times, the different organs, and sampling techniques. The major constituents were often aldehydes, particularly (E)-2-hexenal (9.8-48.0%); however, also many terpenoids have been identified, mainly (E,E)-alpha-farnesene (0.2-27.0%), linalool (0-3.6%), beta-caryophyllene (0-8.1%), and valencene (0-2.5%). Resumé La chromatographie en phase gazeuse étant à la fois une méthode qualitative et quantitative, constitue une méthode idéale destinée à résoudre la complexité des analyses des additifs alimentaires. Après une énumération des perfectionnements récents apportés à ces appareils, l'auteur fait un exposé de l'application et des résultats, notamment dans les domaines: Huile d'olive, Beurre, Saindoux, Vin, Cacao, Chocolat. Identification des acides gras, table des constituants, recherches de falsifications, analyse des substances étrangères, altération des vins, discussion des résultats d'analyse.Pour le dosage des résidus de pesticides et pour la recherche des agents antifermentaires, la chromatographie en phase gazeuse s'avère d'une grande utilité en raison de sa précision et sa rapidité.Comme un complément de la chromatographie en phase gazeuse l'auteur insiste sur l'importance, dans le secteur alimentaire, d'une nouvelle méthode d'analyse, basée sur des réactions enzymatiques et sur les études exécutées par son Institut pour la mise ou point de telles méthodes enzymatiques: détermination du glucose, du fructose, du saccharose dans les moûts et les vins, etc...
Summary Gas-chromatography being a qualitative and quantitative method at the same time, makes an ideal method enabling us to solve the complexity of the analyses of food additives. After enumerating the recent improvements in the gas-chromatography equipment the author explains its applications and shows the results obtained, more specially in the following fields: olive oil, butter, lard, wine, cocoa, chocolate, identification of fatty acids, table of components, search for adulterants, analysis of foreign substances, deterioration of wines, discussion of the results of analyses.In the determination of pesticide residues, and the search for antiferments, gas-chromatography appears to be extremely useful, thanks to its precision and rapidity.As a supplement to gas-chromatography the author insists on the importance, in this field of foods, of a new analytical method based on enzymatic reactions, and on the investigations, carried on in this Institute, aimed to set up such enzymatic methods, to be used in the study of glucose, fructose, and saccharose deteriorations in musts and wines, etc...

Zusammenfassung Die Gaschromatographie ist gleichzeitig eine quantitative und qualitative Analysenmethode. Sie ist daher hervorragend für die Lösung der komplexen Probleme auf dem Gebiete der Lebensmittel-Zusatzstoffe geeignet. Nach Aufzählung der letzten Verbesserungen in der Apparatetechnik, werden Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und Ergebnisse besprochen, insbesondere für Analysen von Olivenöl, Butter, Schmalz, Wein, Kakao und Schokolade. Bestimmung der Fettsäuren, Liste der Bestandteile, Nachweis von Fälschungen, Fremdstoffanalysen, Weinalterung, kritische Betrachtung der Ergebnisse.Für den Nachweis der Pestizid-Rückstände und die Bestimmung von Antifermenten, leistet die Gaschromatographie infolge der Genauigkeit und Schnelligkeit der Methode bereits große Dienste.Zur Ergänzung der gaschromatographischen Verfahren schlägt der Autor, insbesondere für Lebensmittelanalysen ein auf enzymatischen Reaktionen fußendes neues Verfahren vor. Hierzu sind die Untersuchungen in seinem Institut weit fortgeschritten, insbesondere für die Bestimmung von Glukose, Fruktose, Saccharose in Most und Wein.

Premature calving, typified by early expulsion (17 to 43 days) of weak or dead calves and accompanied by retained placentas, was induced in 8 of 9 pregnant cows fed a mixture of Ponderosa pine needles and alfalfa hay. Five control cows of comparable gestation age fed only alfalfa hay maintained normal pregnancies until they were euthanatized at the time the pine needle-treated cows were producing premature calves. Serum specimens from all cows were assayed for progesterone concentration and ovaries and placentomes were examined for histopathologic changes. There were no bacterial, fungal, chlamydial, or viral agents determined to be associated with the premature births. Serum progesterone concentration in the treated cows decreased progressively and were 0.4 to 1.5 ng/ml at the time of premature calving. Histopathologic changes were evident in the placenta and corpora lutea of treated cows only. The number of binucleate trophoblastic giant cells in placentomes was less than normal and the number of necrotic luteal cells in corpora lutea was greater than normal.  相似文献
