The physiological condition in fishes required for their selection as broodfish can be determined by hematological studies. The present study aims at examining the hematological indices in juvenile sturgeons at different stages of growth. The main blood features, such as total albumin content in blood, hemoglobin concentration and the erythrocyte and leukocyte count, were measured in a total of 54 specimens of 1-, 2- and 6-year old sturgeon (Persian sturgeon Acipenser persicus and beluga Huso huso), artificially produced at the Shahid Dr. Beheshti Fish Breeding and Rearing Center located in the Gilan Province. In the Persian sturgeon specimens studied, the total albumin concentration in the blood increased from 26.05 to 52.50 g l–1, the hemoglobin concentration increased from 42.2 to 65.8 g l–1, the erythrocyte count increased from 240 to 452.5 thousand cell ml–1 and the leukocyte count increased from 13.43 to 46.48 thousand cells ml–1. The total leukocyte was composed of 73.25 to 82.70% lymphocytes, 12.3 to 20% neutrophils, 2.25 to 6.50% eosinophils and 0.2 to 2.5% monocytes. In the beluga specimens studied, the total albumin concentration in the blood increased from 20.05 to 42.20 g l–1, the hemoglobin concentration increased from 46.3 to 78.6 g l–1, the erythrocyte count increased from 495 to 735 thousand cells ml–1 and the leukocyte count increased from 31.6 to 57.7 thousand cells ml–1. The total leukocyte was composed of 54.5 to 67.5% lymphocytes, 22.63 to 33.86% neutrophils, 6.60 to 13.7% eosinophils and 0.6 to 2.25% monocytes. This research reveals the trends of some hematological features during the growth and development of sturgeons in the South Caspian Sea, reared in artificial conditions. It shows that with the increase in age, the hematological indices also increased.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of saline groundwater depths (SGDs) (0.3, 0.55, and 0.80 m) with salinity equivalent to irrigation water salinity (WS) and irrigation WS (10, 20, 30, and 40 dS m?1) on physiological characteristics, gas exchange, and plant ion relations of quinoa in cylindrical lysimeters in greenhouse conditions. Root length density (RLD) in the soil layer close to the saline shallow groundwater decreased. Soil aeration was the key point for reduction in RLD by decreasing SGD that was intensified by the increase in WS. It is concluded that root of quinoa was sensitive to anaerobic soil conditions. Results showed that the mean value of leaf water potential (Ψ) dropped from ?1.53 to ?3.09 MPa by increasing WS from 10 to 40 dS m?1. Increasing WS from the lowest to the highest level resulted in 48% decrease in leaf photosynthesis rate (An). Results revealed that leaf stomatal conductance (gs) was more sensitive to salinity than An. Stomatal closure in quinoa started to occur when the Ψ value fell below approximately ?1.0 MPa. In general, increasing WS from 10 to 40 dS m?1 resulted in about 4.6-fold, 2.1-fold, and 2.6-fold increase in plant Na+, Ca2+, and Cl? concentration, respectively.  相似文献

An 80‐day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the influence of different short‐term fasting and re‐feeding strategies on growth and physiological responses in yellowfin seabream, Acanthopagrus latus (2.4 ± 0.2 g) fingerlings. The fish were subjected to four different feeding regimes, and the control group fed four times daily to apparent satiation throughout the whole feeding period, while the other three groups were deprived for 2, 4 and 8 days followed by 8, 16 or 32 days of re‐feeding (F2R8, F4R16 and F8R32, respectively) in repeated cycles for 80 days. The fish in the control and F2R8 groups had the highest and the lowest total length, respectively (p < .05). Moreover, fish exposed to F4R16 had the highest hepatosomatic indices, while control fish had the lowest hepatosomatic indices (p < .05). Fish in the F2R8 group relatively had higher catalase and glutathione‐S‐transferase activities than other groups (p < .05). Furthermore, total protease, α‐amylase and alkaline phosphatase activities in the F4R16 and F8R32 were higher than the F2R4 and control groups (p < .05). Overall, this study showed that compensatory growth in weight and length and digestive enzyme activities were observed in the F4R16 and F8R32; however, the increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the F8R32 group indicated that oxidative stress remained after 80 days of re‐feeding in the liver.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Evidence supports the involvement of nitric oxide (NO) in a variety of male reproductive processes such as spermatogenesis, spermiogenesis, sperm motion, sperm metabolism and sperm capacitation. However, low concentration of NO is essential in biology and physiology of spermatozoa, but high amounts of NO is toxic and has negative effects on sperm functions. On the other hand, it is established that high amounts of NO have detrimental effects on DNA. The integrity of sperm DNA is an important factor in successful fertility and embryo development. It is hypothesized that supra physiological concentrations of NO in seminal plasma cause sperm DNA damage. The aim of this study was to determine sperm DNA damage by comet assay and its correlation with NO level in seminal plasma of fertile and infertile men. METHODS: Semen samples were collected from 45 patients and 70 healthy donors. The stable metabolites of NO (nitrite and nitrate) in seminal plasma were measured by Griess assay and DNA damage was determined using single cell gel electrophoresis (comet) assay method. RESULTS: The NO concentration in the seminal plasma of infertile males was significantly higher than fertile males (5.74+/-1.01 microM/L vs. 3.88+/-0.53 microM/L). There was a significant positive correlation between the NO concentration and sperm DNA comet value in infertile males (P<0.01, R=0.598). CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the overproduction of NO in genital tract of infertile males has a potential pathogenetic role in the reduction of sperm DNA integrity.  相似文献

A 10‐week feeding trial was carried out to evaluate the optimum dietary protein level for the maximum growth of juvenile beluga, Huso huso. Fish averaging 1.34 ± 0.07 g (mean ± SD) was randomly distributed into 18 circular fibreglass tanks of 500 L capacity (20 fish per tank). Six iso‐caloric diets were formulated to contain 30 (CP30), 35 (CP35), 40 (CP40), 45 (CP45), 50 (CP50) and 55% (CP55) crude protein (CP). Fish were fed each of the six experimental diets in triplicate groups. At the end of feeding trial, weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) in fish fed CP40 and CP45 diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed CP30, CP35, CP50 and CP55 diets (< 0.05). Lipid retention increased significantly from 24.7% to 31.6%, but protein retention decreased from 54.6% to 35.6% with increasing protein levels from 30% to 50%. Muscle total essential and non‐essential amino acid (EAA & NEAA) concentrations increased with the dietary protein level up to CP45 diets. Muscle total EAA concentrations (%) of fish fed CP45 were significantly higher than those of fish fed CP30, CP35, CP50 and CP55, but there was no significantly different between those of fish fed CP40 and CP45. Muscle total NEAA concentration (%) of fish fed CP45 were significantly higher than those of fish fed CP30 and CP35 diets. Broken‐line analysis of WG suggested that the optimum dietary protein level could be 38.9% for maximum growth performance in juvenile beluga (1.3–77 g).  相似文献

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary ACV (apple cider vinegar) and PA (propionic acid) supplementation on some biochemical properties of haemolymph and fibrillar cell (F‐cell) number in the hepatopancreas of shrimp. Five different diets supplemented with 0%, 1%, 2%, 4% ACV and 0.5% PA diets were fed to Litopenaeus vanammei. Some biochemical parameters of haemolymph (cortisol, alkaline phosphatase, albumin, urea, uric acid, creatinine, phosphorus, total hemocyte count) and prevalence of F‐cell in hepatopancreas were examined after 60 days feeding trial. The albumin concentration and total hemocyte count in 2% and 4% ACV and PA groups were significantly higher than those of other groups (p < .05). Moreover, the highest phosphorus concentration was detected in shrimp fed 4% ACV and PA experimental diets (p < .05). No significant differences in haemolymph cortisol, urea, uric acid, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase and tubule area were observed among the experimental groups (p > .05). 2% ACV group showed more F‐cell number in hepatopancreas than other groups while the reduction in F‐cell number was observed in the PA group. Based on these observations, the tested ACV and PA diets remarkably exhibited positive impacts on nutritional value and they may be a potential for adding to shrimp diet.  相似文献

Water loss as deep percolation is considerable in furrow irrigation in light soils due to the high infiltration rate. Application of soil conditioners such as bentonite reduces the infiltration rate and improves irrigation application efficiency (Ea) in these soils. The effects of bentonite application rates (BAR) of 0, 2, 4 and 6 g L?1 on infiltration of a loamy sand soil were determined in a soil column in the laboratory. The exponent of the Kostiakov infiltration equation was not influenced by BAR. Maximum reduction in infiltration equation coefficient and final infiltration rate (i f) occurred with 2 g bentonite L?1 and this reduction was lower on increasing BAR from 2 to 4 and 4 to 6 g L?1 compared with control. The effect of 2 g L?1 BAR on infiltration and its effect on the design of furrow irrigation in a field with a loamy sand soil indicated that in the first irrigation after field ploughing and seed planting, longer furrow length, lower deep percolation and higher Ea are obtained.  相似文献

Knowing the concentrations of the nutrient elements in soils is important due to their toxic effect on humans and the environment. The aims of this study were to assess the effects of water quality, depths, and distances of lateral installation on soil chemical properties during turfgrass cultivation. A field experiment was conducted using a Split-Split-Plot design based on the randomized complete block (RCB) design with two treatments (well water and wastewater) and eight sub-treatments (45 and 60 cm distance of the laterals and 15, 20, 25, and 30 cm depths of laterals) in three replicates on a sandy loam soil, in Shahrekord, Iran. Soil samples were collected from 0 to 30 and 30 to 60 cm depth for measuring nitrate (NO3?), electrical conductivity (EC), and pH at the end of the experiment. During the experiment, fecal coliform was also measured at the soil surface. Results indicated that by increasing lateral distance, NO3? level increased in both layers. With installing laterals in deeper levels, NO3? concentration decreased at the beginning, then increased in the first layer, whereas in the second layer, NO3? concentration decreased. In addition, installing laterals in deeper depth caused an increase in soil EC in the top layer, but a decrease in the lower layer. However, the results showed that there was no significant effect of the treatments (well water and wastewater) and the sub-treatments (distance and depths of laterals) on soil pH. The results also show that with increasing laterals depth, fecal coliform level decreased at the soil surface.  相似文献

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have emerged as a major threat to global health resulting in a decrease in life expectancy with respect to humans. Thrombosis is one of the foremost causes of CVDs, and it is characterized by the unwanted formation of fibrin clots. Recently, microbial fibrinolytic enzymes due to their specific features have gained much more attention than conventional thrombolytic agents for the treatment of thrombosis. Marine microorganisms including bacteria and microalgae have the significant ability to produce fibrinolytic enzymes with improved pharmacological properties and lesser side effects and, hence, are considered as prospective candidates for large scale production of these enzymes. There are no studies that have evaluated the fibrinolytic potential of marine fungal-derived enzymes. The current review presents an outline regarding isolation sources, production, features, and thrombolytic potential of fibrinolytic biocatalysts from marine microorganisms identified so far.  相似文献
