The lack improvement in the capillary rise and retention of water in quartz sand dehydroxylated by calcination after its hydroxylation and rehydroxylation by alkali, hot water and H2O2 treatments, can be accounted for by its instantenous hydroxylatiton and rehydroxylation or by the limited effect of the OH groups on those hydric properties. An alternative interpretation could be a lack analogy between silica and quartz.  相似文献

In order to ascertain the existence of the apparent paradox in the behaviour of calcined sand, the ζ-potential of sand subjected to dehydroxylation (calcined sand) – hydroxylation (autoclaved sand) was studied by a streaming potential. No or insignificant differences in the behaviour of differently pretreated sands were found. At any rate, the calcined sand has no less ζ-potential than the autoclaved sand. The existence of an electric double layer with the relevant ζ-potential indicates that some instant hydroxylation takes place when calcined sand contacts water.  相似文献

The specific surface areas of nine argentinian soils obtained by adsorption followed the order N2 < ethylene glycol < H2O, attributed to the presence of smectites (verified by XRD analysis) and some organic coating. The H2O2 treatment of these soils modified the former order of surface area determined by different absorbents. This order was modified because the mineral surface was evidenced and an increase of cation adsorption was produced by organic matter removal. This fact was supported by the decrease of PZC values of soils after H2O2 treatment. The specific surface area of initial soils obtained by water and ethylene glycol adsorptions showed a good correlation with carbon content and CEC of untreated soils and with the PZC of protonated soils.  相似文献

Although quartz sand with its amorphous surface layer covered with OH groups is completely hydrophilic per se, the contact angle of water with it is > 0°. Natural sand (marine or soil) apparently contains organic hydrophobic substances adsorbed from air and water; this decreases its hydrophilicity, which is not restorable by acid washing and calcination. The H2O2 treatment of acid-washed sand restores its natural hydrophilicity.  相似文献

The humoral and cellular immunological parameters of the New World non-human primate Cebus apella were analysed. The study included: serum protein immunoelectrophoretic analysis; cross reactivity between monkey and human immunoglobulins by immunoprecipitation, ELISA and indirect immunofluorescence tests; immunoglobulin quantitation by radial immunodiffusion; and assays with peripheral blood lymphocytes involving tests for E and EAC rosettes and detection of surface markers (surface immunoglobulins and CD4-CD8 antigens). The results obtained showed that (a) at least three immunoglobulins with electrophoretic mobility corresponding to IgG, IgA and IgM which showed cross reactivity with the human ones were present in serum; (b) it was possible to evaluate the relative monkey immunoglobulin concentration using specific antibodies against human immunoglobulins and to obtain absolute values using adequate conversion factors; (c) lymphocytes forming E and EAC rosettes were found in peripheral blood in a similar proportion to that reported in man; (d) lymphocyte surface immunoglobulins were detected using anti-human immunoglobulin serum; (e) it was not possible to demonstrate the presence of T helper and T suppressor/cytotoxic lymphocytes using OK T4 and OK T8 monoclonal antibodies.  相似文献
