In the last years the number of isolations of Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar paratyphi B (S. paratyphi B) sent to the national salmonella reference laboratory of Germany has increased steadily. Most of the isolates originated from fowl or poultry products. The bacteriological, serological and biochemical properties of the isolates were investigated. Special emphasis was given to the utilization of d-tartrate which subgroups the serovar. All of them belonged to the d-tartrate positive variant, which is generally considered less virulent for humans and was formerly called S. java. The performance of various tests is compared and in addition the possibility of the spread within the production line is discussed. 相似文献

The National Salmonella Reference Laboratory (NRL-Salm) of the Federal Institute for Health Protection of Consumers and Veterinary Medicine receives putative Salmonella isolates originating from animals, food, feed and the environment for typing. This report summarises the results of the sero- and phagetyping studies. In livestock S. Typhimurium DT 104 with 24% and S. Enteritidis PT 4 with 9% of all isolations predominate like in the human isolates. These sero- and phagetypes are frequently isolated from food as well and consequently can reach the consumer via the food chain. 相似文献

Explaining the subsequent decline in violent crime rates has been more difficult, however. On page 628, neuroscientists report that painful stimuli delivered to rats shortly after birth permanently rewire the spinal cord circuits that respond to pain. Not only do the circuits contain more axons, but the axons extend to more areas of the spinal cord than they normally would.
