Kinetics of chemical degradation of propyzamide (Kerb) in aquatic environments—influence of pH and trace elements Degradation of propyzamide in aquatic environments has been studied with particular reference to pH and the presence of trace elements. The degradation is quicker in alkaime than in acid surroundings but this is appreciable only in acidic and strongly alkaline media. Iron and copper salts had little influence but, on the contrary, silver salts had a strong effect. The mechanism of this interaction is discussed.  相似文献

Abstract Using the technique of human basophil passive sensitization, as employed for human allergy díagnosis, we checked the ability of canine anaphylactic antibodies to sensitize human basophils. Therefore, by sensitizing human basophils with sera taken from dogs allergic to house dust mite, we demonstrated basophil activation as measured by alcian blue staining. Basophil activation was inhibited by heating dog sera at 56 °C for 6 h and by a human myeloma IgE. Basophil activation was also shown by histamine and leukotriene (LTC4) release. These results indicate canine anaphylactic antibodies bind to human basophil IgE receptors and also that they are IgE. The three methods described here for measuring basophil activation may lead to díagnostic methods applicable to canine allergy díagnosis. Resumen Mediante el método de la sensibilización pasiva de basófilos humanos como se utiliza para el díagnóstico de la alergia humana, evaluamos la capacidad de los anticuerpos anafilácticos caninos de sensibilizar basófilos humanos. Asi, sensibilizando basófilos humanos con suero extraido de perros con alergia al ácaro del polvo, demostramos la activación de basófilos medíante la tinción de Azul de Alcián. Se inhibió calentando suero canino a 56 °C durante 6 h. y por IgE de mieloma humano. La activación de los basófilos se mostró también por la liberación de histamina y leucotrieno (LTC4). Estos resultados indican que los anticuerpos caninos anafilácticos se unen a los receptores de IgE en basófilos humanos y también que son IgE. Ainsi, par sensibilisation de basophiles humains avec des sérums provenant de chiens allergiques aux acariens de la poussière de maison, nous avons démontré l'activation des basophiles mesurée par coloration au bleu alcian. Celle-ci est inhibée par des sérums canins chauffés à 56 °C pendant 6 heures et par un myélome IgE humain. L'activation des basophiles a été aussi démontrée par libération d'histamine et de leucotriénes (LTC4). Veterinary Dermatology 1996; 7 : 185–91.] Zusammenfassung Mit der Technik der passiven Basophilensensibilisierung beim Menschen, wie man sie für die Allergiedíagnose beim Menschen anwendet, untersuchten wir die Möglichkeit, menschliche Basophile durch kanine anaphylaktische Antikörper zu sensibilisieren. Dazu wurden humane Basophile mit Sera von Hunden sensibilisiert, die allergisch auf Hausstaubmilben reagierten. Dabei demonstrierten wir eine Basophilenaktivierung, die durch Elsässerblau-Färbung gemessen werden konnte. Der Vorgang wurde verhindert durch Erhitzen der Hundesera auf 56 °C für 6 Stunden und durch humanes Myelom-IgE. Basophilenaktivierung wurde auch durch Histamin-und Leukotrien(LTC4)-Ausschüttung gezeigt. Diese Ergebnisse zeigen, daß kanine anaphylaktische Antikörper sich an humane basophile IgE-Rezeptoren binden und auch IgEs darstellen. Die drei hier beschriebenen Methoden zur Messung der Basophilenaktivierung können zu einer díagnostischen Methode führen, die für die Diagnostik kaniner Allergie anwendbar ist. Sodium penicillin G was administered intravenously (4545 IU/kg) to calves on the day of birth (12-24 h old) and at 5, 10, and 15 days of age. Serum was collected at varying intervals for 120 min after injection and analysed for penicillin G. The mean total body clearance (ClB) of penicillin G on the day of birth was 2.98 ml/min/kg compared to 4.83 ml/min/kg at 5 days, 3.11 ml/min/kg at 10 days and 4.65 ml/min/kg at 15 days of age. Clearances at 5 and 15 days were significantly (P less than or equal to 0.05) higher than on the day of birth. The half-life (t1/2 beta), however, did not change significantly over the 15-day period of the study. These results indicate that the newborn calf has an appreciable ability to excrete penicillin G before it is 24 h old, and that total body clearance of the antibiotic increases rapidly in the immediate postnatal period.  相似文献

Summary. The growth has been tested in vitro of selected species of fungi, yeasts, bacteria, actinomycetes and green algae in the presence of the acetic and α-butyric acid forms of MCPA, 2,4–D and 2,4,5–T. The results show that at concentrations approximating to field rates of application, these chemicals were harmless. At much higher concentrations (above 500 ppm), however, the α-butyric acids were found to be highly toxic whereas the acetic acids has no effect on growth.  相似文献

A reproducible experimental disease model in horses using Streptococcus zooepidemicus was developed. An intravenous challenge dose of 1 X 10(10) colony-forming units (CFU), followed 24 h later with another challenge of 1 X 10(8) CFU of Strep. zooepidemicus produced the desired disease model. The disease was characterized by depression, pyrexia, anorexia, abnormal lung sounds, inflammation of joints, moderate to severe lameness, gradual loss of condition and emaciation. The effects of the disease on hematology, serum chemical profile and different protein fractions were studied. The disease state had no effect on serum glucose, sodium, potassium, chloride, urea nitrogen, creatinine, uric acid, calcium, phosphorus and enzymes SGOT or SGPT. However, the alkaline phosphatase showed a gradual decline. The serum iron levels dropped markedly and remained low to the last day of observations (post-infection day, PID 13). On serum protein electrophoresis, the albumin showed a gradual decrease; whereas, alpha II, beta and gamma globulin levels rose suggesting an immune response. The elevation of rectal temperatures and white blood cell counts related well with clinical observations. The serum iron levels proved very helpful in predicting the severity of clinical signs and often dropped before the onset of clinical signs and pyrexia.  相似文献

Osteoradionecrosis and radiation-induced bone tumors are rare complications of radiation therapy. Little information regarding these complications is available in veterinary medicine. We characterized these complications and investigated risk factors in 119 dogs (122 sites) that received definitive orthovoltage radiation therapy to appendicular sites. Long-term survival was expected in all dogs. The complications of interest were osteoradionecrosis and secondary bone tumor, evaluated radiographically, histopathologically, or both. Complication rates were estimated using the Kaplan–Meier product-limit method, and Fisher's exact test or chi-square test was used to compare the complication rate. The median survival time was 1405 days, with median follow-up duration of 657 days. There were 10 radiation-induced bone tumors and five radiation-induced fractures, with two dogs developing both, for an overall complication rate of 11%. The latent period ranged from 1.2 to 6.4 years for osteoradionecrosis and from 2.6 to 8.7 years for radiation-induced bone tumor. Complications were significantly higher in the humerus ( P <0.0001), and in dogs younger than 7 years ( P =0.014). Similar assessment of complications in dogs irradiated with megavoltage photons or electrons are needed.  相似文献

Phenylbutazone (PBZ) is a nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drug used in the treatment of chronic pain and arthritis. Topical and transdermal administration of PBZ would be beneficial in large animals in terms of minimizing gastro‐intestinal ulcerations and other side effects, easy administration to legs and joints and minimizing the dose to reduce systemic toxicity of the drug. A topical liposomal preparation with different concentrations of a mono‐substituted alkyl amide (MSA) and PBZ was formulated. The formulations were evaluated by in vitro skin‐permeation kinetics through deer skin using Franz diffusion cells. By increasing drug loading from 1% to 5% w/w, the steady‐state flux (μg/cm2/h) of PBZ was increased twofold (P < 0.001). Similarly, by increasing the MSA concentration from 0% to 4%, the steady‐state flux (μg/cm2/h) of PBZ was increased twofold (P < 0.001). Overall, by increasing the drug load and the use of an appropriate amount of the penetration enhancer, the steady‐state flux of PBZ through skin was increased fourfold (P < 0.001). MSA at both 2% and 4% w/w concentrations significantly increased the skin levels of PBZ as compared with control (P < 0.05). In conclusion, MSA served as an effective skin‐penetration enhancer in the liposomal gel of PBZ for deer.  相似文献

Urethral extension was performed in 14 cows with clinical urovagina and infertility. Urovagina was corrected in nine cows (64%) and was reduced in the others. Formation of fistulas at the cranial end of the extension site was the most frequent complication (4 cows). In one cow, the urethral extension was not extended far enough caudally. Eleven cows (79%) returned to fertility after surgery. Severity of urine pooling, cranial displacement of the urethral orifice, and severe preoperative vaginitis may explain the failure of the urethral extension in some cows.  相似文献

Rates of mineral nitrogen production and carbon dioxide evolutionin incubated samples from the upper 300mm of peat beneath lodgepolepine (Pinus contorta Dougl.) have been compared with those foradjacent unplanted areas at each of six sites in the North ofScotland. Under both aerobic (moist) and anaerobic (water logged)conditions, rates of mineral nitrogen production at 30°Care strongly influenced by peatland type, sampling depth andafforestation. During the early stages of the incubation underaerobic conditions, samples of planted peat showed a more rapidaccumulation of mineral nitrogen than did samples from unplantedareas, the amounts after 17 days being 170ppm and 46ppm mineralN, respectively; after 62 days however, the difference was nolonger significant. The mean rate of CO2 production averaged446µg CO2 g–1 day–1 in planted as against728µg in unplanted peat. Under anaerobic conditions, amountsof mineral nitrogen accumulated were similar in planted andunplanted sites but a difference in accumulation between the0–150 and 150–300mm horizons in unplanted peat wassignificantly reduced beneath the trees.  相似文献
