Summary Various genes for disease resistance identified in wild Lactuca are difficult, even impossible to exploit in lettuce breeding, due to sexual incompatibility between L. sativa and wild Lactuca sp. We adapted two cellular biology techniques to overcome these interspecific barriers: in vitro embryo rescue and protoplast fusion. In vitro rescue of immature embryos was used successfully for sexual hybridization between L. sativa and L. virosa. Vigorous hybrid plants were produced between L. sativa and seven accessions of L. virosa. Protoplast fusion permitted the regeneration of somatic hybrids between L. sativa and either L. tatarica or L. perennis. Hybrids between L. sativa and L. tatarica were backcrossed to L. sativa.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: After the rinsing of spray equipment, the rinsing water contains polluting products. One way to avoid pollution is to bring the rinsing water over a purification system, a biological bed. The system consists of an impermeable tub filled with a biomix substrate that facilitates biodegradation of pesticides. Usually, straw is one component of the biomix. The objective of this study was to assess the efficiency of an unusual substrate, bagasse, a residue of sugar cane, for the degradation of three pesticides, glyphosate, malathion and lambda‐cyhalothrin. RESULTS: Results showed that more than 99% of malathion and glyphosate were degraded in 6 months. In the biological bed, the DT50 value for malathion was 17 days, for glyphosate 33 days and for lambda‐cyhalothrin 43 days. The degradation rate of aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) residues from the degradation of glyphosate was slower than that of the other pesticides (DT50 69 days). Finally, the innocuousness of the biomix after 6 months of degradation was confirmed by biological tests. CONCLUSIONS: Although the degradation rates of the three pesticides in the present bagasse‐based system were similar to those under temperate conditions, the degradation conditions were improved by comparison with those in soil under the given tropical conditions. Further benefits of this system are pesticide confinement, to avoid their dispersion in the environment by liquids or solids, and a lower overall cost. Finally, possibilities for optimising the bagasse‐based system (e.g. management of the water content and nature of the biomix) are discussed. Copyright © 2008 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Abstract

Helicopter applied insecticides used for tsetse control were investigated for their potential to reduce populations of Simulium damnosum s.l. in riverine forest in the Guinea savanna zone of southwestern Upper Volta. Populations of aquatic stages and biting females were sampled before and after spraying. Deltamethrin applied at 12·5 g a.i./ha to a 30 km length of riverine vegetation almost eliminated adults for a period of about nine days. Residues which fell into the water killed all larvae in the river. Endosulfan at 100 g a.i./ha applied to a similar stretch of vegetation caused a reduction of over 60% in biting adults for 11 days, but residues falling into the river killed only young larvae. Neither dieldrin at 400 g a.i./ha, endosulfan at 10 g a.i./ha nor deltamethrin at 12.5 g a.i./ha applied to a 5 km insecticide barrier between the experimental blocks and the untreated river appeared to have much effect. This suggests that most S. damnosum were traversing the barrier without coming into contact with the insecticides.  相似文献

1. Most samples of field bean, irrespective of their genetic origin, induced a decrease in the mean egg weight when included in the diet at a rate of 300 g/kg: the relative sizes of yolk, albumen and shell were unchanged.

2. Lipoxygenase was not involved in this phenomenon since addition of linoleic acid to the diets containing field beans did not improve egg weight.

3. The depressing effect of the field beans was proportional to the proanthocyanidine content of the seed extracted with absolute methanol.

4. In a longer trial (252d) field beans rich in these kinds of tannin decreased laying rate, efficiency of food utilisation and tended to increase mortality.
