This study shows that the disease resistance and survival rate of Penaeus monodon in a larval rearing systems can be enhanced by supplementing with antagonistic or non‐antagonistic probiotics. The antagonistic mode of action of Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103 against vibrios was demonstrated in larval mesocosm with cultures having sufficient concentration of antagonistic compounds in their culture supernatant. Investigations on the antagonistic properties of Bacillus MCCB 101, Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103 and Arthrobacter MCCB 104 against Vibrio harveyi MCCB 111 under in vitro conditions revealed that Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103 were inhibitory to the pathogen. These inhibitory properties were further confirmed in the larval rearing systems of P. monodon. All these four probionts significantly improved larval survival in long‐term treatments as well as when challenged with a pathogenic strain of V. harveyi MCCB 111. We could demonstrate that Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103 accorded disease resistance and a higher survival rate in P. monodon larval rearing systems through active antagonism of vibrios, whereas Bacillus MCCB 101 and Arthrobacter MCCB 104 functioned as probiotics through immunostimulatory and digestive enzyme‐supporting modes of action.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken to assess the insecticide resistance developed in various field collected population of S. litura and to induce susceptibility by using the synergists. Third-instar larvae collected from three different locations of Kerala viz., Thiruvananthapuram (TVM), Pathanamthitta (PTA) and Alappuzha (ALP) were exposed to conventional insecticides like chlorpyriphos, quinalphos, lambda-cyhalothrin and cypermethrin by leaf dip bioassay and resistance ratios were calculated by using the baseline data generated for respective insecticides using susceptible strain. Resistance ratios recorded were 1965, 840 and 320 against chlorpyriphos, 605, 255 and 59 against quinalphos, 926, 250 and 108 against lambda-cyahlothrin and 2566, 534 and 396 against cypermethrin respectively for TVM, PTA and ALP populations. The effect of selected synergists viz., piperonyl butoxide (PBO), diethyl maleate (DEM) and triphenyl phosphate (TPP) was studied in combination with respective test insecticides against the highly resistant population of S.litura collected from TVM of Kerala. The population was tested with insecticide in combination of the above synergists at different ratios. When PBO, TPP and DEM at ratio of 1:4 were used the synergistic ratio was 8.47, 7.26 and 3.98 for chlorpyriphos, 6.09, 5.26 and 3.05 for quinalphos, 13.37, 4.53 and 7.39 for lambda cyhalothrin and 4.77, 3.36 and 3.40 for cypermethrin respectively. PBO showed highest synergistic activity against both the organophosphates tested followed by DEM and TPP. Highest synergistic activity against synthetic pyrethroids also was shown by PBO, followed by TPP and DEM. The results obtained from the present study revealed that PBO at 1:4 ratio showed higher synergism with the test insecticides against the resistant populations of S.litura and proved to be an effective molecule alternate for breaking the resistance against conventional organophosphates and synthetic pyrethroids.  相似文献

Phosphamidon is chemically known as phosphoric acid, 2-chloro-2-diethyl carboryl-methylvenyl-0-0-dimethyl phosphate. It is a systemic and contact insecticide with broad spectrum of activity. The present investigation was carried out to evaluate its effects on estrous cycle, ovarian, and uterine biochemical contents in albino mice. Normal virgin female Swiss albino mice of 90 days old and weighing about 20-30 g were divided into five groups. Phosphamidon was orally administered at doses 1.3, 2.6, 3.9, and 5.2 mg/kg body weight/day for 30 days consecutively. The vaginal smear and body weight were recorded daily and mice were sacrificed on 31st day. Estrous cycle was affected by showing a significant decrease in the number of estrous cycle and duration of proestrus, estrus, and metestrus in all the groups except in 1.3 mg/kg body weight/day phosphamidon treated group, and with concomitant increase in the duration of diestrus in all the treated groups. However there is a significant decrease in the body weight in all the groups except 1.3 mg/kg body weight/ day phosphamidon treated group. The deleterious effects were also reflected in the loss of weights of ovary and uterus: In mice treated with 2.6, 3.9, and 5.2 mg/kg phosphamidon showed a significant decrease in total protein and glycogen in the ovary and uterus. The response of the ovary and uterus for nucleic acid (DNA) content was significantly decreased in higher doses. The observed effects of phosphamidon may be due to imbalance in the hormone or toxic effects.  相似文献

A ready-to-serve sandwich spread was developed from the meat of mud crab, Scylla serrata, by thermal processing in retortable pouches in an overpressure retort at temperatures 111.1, 116.1, and 121.1°C; and F0 values 5, 6, and 7 min. Process optimization was done by evaluating the samples for texture, color, commercial sterility, thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value, and sensory evaluation. All samples were found to be acceptable based on these quality evaluations, and together with principal component analysis (PCA), the sample processed at 116.1°C, 6 min was found to be the best, with cook value of 84.29 and total process time of 42.59 min.  相似文献

Background  

The data generated during a course of a biological experiment/study can be sometimes be massive and its management becomes quite critical for the success of the investigation undertaken. The accumulation and analysis of such large datasets often becomes tedious for biologists and lab technicians. Most of the current phenotype data acquisition management systems do not cater to the specialized needs of large-scale data analysis. The successful application of genomic tools/strategies to introduce desired traits in plants requires extensive and precise phenotyping of plant populations or gene bank material, thus necessitating an efficient data acquisition system.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to quantify the shelf life and quality characteristics of puffer fish, Lagocephalus guentheri, fillets on chilled storage at 2 ± 1°C. The puffer fish muscle contains 16.14% protein, 80.76% moisture, 0.99% ash, and 0.17% fat. The mouse bioassay proved the absence of tetradotoxin in muscle, liver, skin, and gonads of the fish. The polyunsaturated fatty acid to saturated fatty acid (P/S) ratio of puffer fish was found to be 1.3, with n-3 to n-6 ratio of 3.27. The puffer fish had hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio (H/H) value of 2.68, artherogenicity index of 0.43, and thrombogenicity index of 0.29. Beheaded and deskinned fishes were filleted and were studied for 10 days of chilled storage. The physical, chemical, sensory, and microbiological parameters showed significant (p < 0.05) changes during the entire storage period. While the hydrolytic rancidity was significantly correlated to springiness, gumminess, and chewiness of fillets, the peroxide value (PV) correlated with the color attributes and pH. The hardness of the samples decreased significantly and was evident in both sensory and instrumental analysis. With storage time, the yellowness of the fillets increased steadily. The results of this study can help in improving processing, preservation, and marketing aspects and enhance the utility of puffer fish.  相似文献
