Nerve cells in the monkey's prefrontal cortex and nucleus medialis dorsalis of the thalamus show changes of firing frequency associated with the performance of a delayed response test. Most cells increase firing during the cue presentation period or at the beginning of the ensuing delay; spike discharge highler than that in intertrial periods is present in some cells throughout the delay. These changes are interpreted as suggestive evidence of a role of frontothalamic circuits in the attentive process involved in short-term memory 相似文献

In this paper we describe the origin, arrangement and variations of the major pelvic arterial trunks in the wood mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus. Seventy-six specimens have been analyzed by injection of coloured latex solution through the left ventricle of the heart and subsequent dissection of the pelvic region. Measurements of the origin of the major arterial trunks have been performed taking into account the number of anterior and posterior branches arising from its origin. Only the values of the internal iliac artery and the pudendoepigastric trunk show significant differences according to the number of previous branches. In general terms, the pattern of the pelvic arteries in the wood mouse agrees with those reported to for other rodent species. The DMAC protocol (dexamethasone, melphalan, actinomycin‐D, cytarabine) has been evaluated in American studies for the treatment of relapsed canine lymphoma, comparing similarly to other rescue protocols. The aim of this study was to evaluate efficacy and toxicity of DMAC, in a larger UK cohort of resistant canine lymphomas. Medical records of dogs with resistant non‐Hodgkin high‐grade lymphomas that received DMAC as a rescue protocol were reviewed from 2007 to 2017. Response, time from initiation to discontinuation (TTD) and toxicity (Veterinary Cooperative Oncology Group criteria) were assessed. One hundred dogs were included; 86 received CEOP (modified CHOP including epirubicin) as first‐line treatment. Thirty‐five dogs (35%) responded: 21 complete responders (CRs) and 14 partial responders (PRs). Responders had significantly longer TTD (P < 0.001) compared with non‐responders: 62 days (range 28‐952) for CR vs 32 days (range 20‐70) for PR. Six CR received more than six cycles of DMAC (range 7‐36 cycles) and experienced a longer TTD (median 508, range 126‐952 days). Thrombocytopenia occurred in 45% (24 grade 1‐2, 21 grade 3‐4) and neutropenia in 36% of cases (29 grade 1‐2, 7 grade 3‐4). Gastrointestinal toxicity occurred in 42% of dogs (40 grade 1‐2, 2 grade 3‐4). Owing to chemotherapy toxicity, treatment was discontinued in five, and hospitalization required in six cases. In this study, response to DMAC was lower and of generally shorter duration than previously reported. Toxicity was high, but infrequently led to hospitalization or discontinuation of treatment. 相似文献

The standard of care treatment for canine lymphoma is multi‐agent chemotherapy containing prednisolone, cyclophosphamide, vincristine and an anthracycline such as doxorubicin (CHOP) or epirubicin (CEOP). Lomustine, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone (LOPP) has been evaluated as a rescue, with encouraging results; however, resistance to vincristine is likely in patients relapsing on CHOP/CEOP, and this agent may enhance LOPP toxicity without improving efficacy. The aim of this study was to evaluate responses to a modified‐LOPP protocol that does not include vincristine (LPP) and is administered on a 21‐day cycle. Medical records of dogs with high‐grade multicentric lymphoma from 2012 to 2017 were reviewed. Dogs with relapsed lymphoma that received LPP as a rescue protocol were enrolled. Response, time from initiation to discontinuation (TTD) and toxicity of LPP were assessed. Forty‐one dogs were included. Twenty‐five dogs (61%) responded to LPP including 12 complete responses (CR) and 13 partial responses (PR). Responders had a significantly longer TTD (P < .001) compared to non‐responders with 84 days for CR and 58 days for PR. Neutropenia was documented in 20 dogs (57%): 12 grade I to II, 8 grade III to IV. Thrombocytopenia was infrequent (20%): 5 grade I to II, 2 grade III to IV. Twelve dogs developed gastrointestinal toxicity (30%): 10 grade I to II and 2 grade III. Nineteen dogs had elevated ALT (59%): 9 grade I to II, 10 grade III to IV. Treatment was discontinued due to toxicity in 8 dogs (19%). The LPP protocol shows acceptable efficacy and toxicity‐profile and minimizes in‐hospital procedures. 相似文献

Data on the distribution and variation of the abdominal arteries in the wood mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus, are given. Seventy specimens (44 males and 26 females) caught in the field were analyzed by injection of green latex solution and dissection. The general branching pattern of the aorta abdominalis is similar to those described in other rodents. There are certain differences, however, especially in the branching of the coeliac trunk, the origin of the genital arteries and the arrangement of the caudal mesenteric artery. Significant variability was detected in the distribution of the iliolumbar arteries about the testicular and ovaric arteries. Based on the observations and measurements carried out, some branching patterns of the aorta abdominalis are presented. 相似文献

Irrigation Advisory Services (IAS) are the natural management instruments to achieve a better efficiency in the use of water
for irrigation. IAS provide the farmers with irrigation scheduling information, based on crop water requirements for different
crops, and thus, help farmers to optimise production and cost-effectiveness. Current IAS rely on labour- and cost-intensive
field work, yet are unable to cover each plot in large areas at regular short time intervals. Earth observation (EO) is naturally
destined to fill this gap. It allows for efficiently monitoring crop water requirements and related parameters within each
field in extended areas. The incorporation of IT in the generation and distribution of information makes that information
easily available to IAS and to its associated farmers in a personalised way. Farmers can opt to receive a wide variety of
products, tailored to their needs and infrastructure, ranging from simple irrigation scheduling recommendation (irrigation
volume, time) to colour-coded images (providing quick intuitive information on the crop vigour within their plots), both on
PC and/or mobile phones.
This work is based on the project DEMETER (DEMonstration of Earth observation TEchnologies in Routine irrigation advisory
services), which assesses and demonstrates the EO- and IT-induced improvements in IAS day-to-day operations. This paper describes

Typical volatile heterocyclic compounds found in brewed coffee extracts-pyrroles, furans, thiophenes, and thiazoles-were examined for antioxidative activity, which was determined by measuring the oxidative conversion of hexanal to hexanoic acid using gas chromatography. 2-Acetylpyrrole, 1-methylpyrrole, and pyrrole inhibited hexanal oxidation by 98, 87, and 78%, respectively, at a concentration of 500 microgram/mL over a period of 30 days. 2-Methylfuran, which inhibited hexanal oxidation by 90% at all concentrations tested (500, 200, and 100 microgram/mL) for a 30-day period, exhibited the greatest activity among furans tested. Similarly, 2-methylthiophene, which inhibited hexanal oxidation by almost 100% at a concentration of 500 microgram/mL over 30 days, exhibited the greatest activity among the thiophenes tested. In general, thiazoles were ineffective antioxidants at all concentrations tested. However, 4,5-dimethylthiazole was able to inhibit hexanal oxidation by 50% at the highest level tested (500 microgram/mL). 2-Acetylpyrrole, 2-methylfuran, and 2-methylthiophene at concentrations of 500, 200, and 100 microgram/mL and furan at a concentration of 500 microgram/mL exhibited antioxidative activities comparable to that of the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene at a concentration of 50 microgram/mL. 相似文献
