Antibody directed against Marek's disease-associated tumor surface antigen (MATSA) was eluted from tumor cells of lymphomas and peripheral blood lymphocytes that were isolated from Marek's disease virus-infected chickens. Feather follicular Marek's disease virus (MDV) antigen could not be demonstrated with this antibody by indirect immunofluorescent (IF) staining. Monoclonal antibody directed against MATSA could completely block the activity of eluted antibody and vice versa. By indirect IF staining using eluted antibody and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) labelled antichicken globulin conjugate. MATSA-bearing cells were detected in MDV infected and herpes virus of turkey (HVT) vaccinated birds. Blocking of immunoglobulin molecules present on B-cells by anti-chicken globulin is critical in this test. 相似文献

The records of 43 dogs with nasal tumors (1969- 1974) were evaluated in retrospect. The median age at diagnosis was 10 years. Most affected dogs were bloody nasal discharge, sneezing, and nasal bone deformities. A new method of obtaining tissure for cytologic and histologic evalution proved to be accurate in making a definitive diagnosis in 50% of the cases evaluated. Affected dogs were treated by surgery, surgery plus immunotherapy, or not at all. The results of those treated by surgery alone were no better than those not treated. 相似文献

During a 14-year period (January 1962 to December 1975), 394 primary and secondary tumours or tumour-like lesions affecting bones were diagnosed in the dog. The most frequently occurring tumour was osteosarcoma (183, 46.5%), followed by chondrosarcoma (forty-four, 11.2%), squamous cell carcinoma (thirty-nine, 10%), fibrosarcoma (thirty-one, 7.8%), multiple myeloma (fourteen, 3.6%), haemangiosarcoma (fourteen, 3.6%), malignant melanoma (thirteen, 3.3%), synovioma (nine, 2.3%), lymphosarcoma (eight, 2.0%), cartilage analogue of fibromatosis (seven, 1.8%), adaman-tinoma (five, 1.3%), osteocartilaginous exostosis, ossifying fibroma, rhabdomyosarcoma (four each), polyostotic cyst, haemangiomatosis (three each), odontoma, tumoral calcinosis (two each), and osteoma, chondroma, desmoid fibromatosis, and malignant mesenchymoma (one each).

The purposes of this study were to evaluate the efficacy of cobalt-60 radiotherapy in the treatment of nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma of the nasal cavity in dogs and to compare this treatment group to historical controls. Six dogs with histopathologically confirmed nasal cavity nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma were treated with cobalt-60 radiotherapy to a total dose of either 63 Gy or 54 Gy. Overall survival times ranged from 30 days to 330 days, with a median survival time of 165 days. Nasal cavity nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma in the dog is an aggressive tumor that responds poorly to radiotherapy. 相似文献

Hypoglycemia associated with nonislet cell tumor was found in 13 dogs. In each dog, clinical signs were related directly to adrenergic and neuroglucopenic effects of hypoglycemia and included collapsing episodes, tremors, restlessness, weakness, and grand mal seizures that were responsive to glucose administration. Eight of the dogs had hepatocellular carcinoma; surgical resection of the tumor achieved remission of clinical signs in 3 of these dogs. Other hepatic tumors associated with hypoglycemia included leiomyosarcoma and hemangiosarcoma involving solitary lobes of the liver. Undifferentiated malignant tumors of the oral cavity were diagnosed in six dogs under 2 years of age. The dogs were examined because of pain and swelling of the upper molar or premolar areas. In all six dogs, the tumors were initially misdiagnosed as infections or carnasal abscesses. The differential diagnosis included malignant lymphoma, osteosarcoma, mesenchymal chondrosarcoma, embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, and malignant melanoma. Electron microscopy of three neoplasms showed that there were no specific features characteristic of carcinoma or sarcoma. Immunoperoxidase studies for cytokeratins, epithelial membrane antigen, actin, myosin, desmin, and vimentin were also negative. We conclude that these tumors be designated undifferentiated malignant tumors of the oral cavity until histogenesis is established. 相似文献
