A cross-sectional serological survey was carried out to screen the equine population of the nonendemic state of Alabama for the presence of detectable antibody titers against Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis. A second objective was to determine the association of detectable titers with risk factors such as exposure to ruminants or previous travel to endemic states. A total of 342 equine serum samples from 40 Alabama counties were analyzed using the synergistic hemolysis inhibition test (SHI). The prevalence of detectable antibody titers (≥1:8) was 52.5% (95% confidence interval [CI], 47%–57.9%). Titers ≥1:128 were detected in 2.63% (95% CI, 1.2%–4.9%), and titers ≥1:512 were detected in 0.3% (95% CI, 0%–1.6%) of the sampled population. In the final generalized linear model, age (P < .001), breed (P = .023), and contact with cattle (P = .05) were associated with increasing SHI titers. Contact with goats was associated in the initial but not in the final analysis (P = .19). Previous travel was not associated with increasing SHI titer (P = .97). The results demonstrated a high prevalence of low detectable titers and low prevalence of titers ≥ 1:128 in a nonendemic population. Further evaluation of SHI cutoff titers and accuracy is warranted to reduce the risk of a false positive diagnosis.  相似文献

本文比较了用血凝反应(HA),在鸡胚成纤维细胞上的TCID50及用发育鸡胚做ELD50来测定鸽新城疫病毒(NDV)毒价的相关性。结果表明,鸽NDV毒价的TCID50和ELD50的值基本相同。HA滴度虽然与TCID50值有一定的相关性,但远不如TCID50准确。接种病毒后死亡鸡胚的新鲜尿囊液经冻融后,其中鸽NDV的HA滴度和TCID50均逐渐下降。每经一次冻融,毒价几乎减少50%。  相似文献

Antibiotic resistance and ESBL constitute a risk to human and animal health. Birds residing close to humans could mirror the spectrum of human associated antibiotic resistance. Household pigeons were screened in Bangladesh to shed light on human associated, as well as, environmental antibiotic resistance. Escherichia coli from pigeons (n = 150) were tested against 11 antibiotics. 89% E. coli isolates were resistant to one or more critically important human antibiotics like ampicillin, cefadroxil, mecillinam, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin and tigecycline. No carbapenamase-producers were detected and the lower ESBL prevalence (5%) in pigeons. ESBL-producing E. coli isolates had blaCTX-M-15 genes. Pigeons shared some bacterial clones and had bird associated sequence types like E. coli ST1408. Fecal carriage of bacteria resistance of critically important human antibiotics, together with examples of shared genotypes among pigeons, indicate the human-birds and bird to bird transmissions are important in the epidemiology of antibiotic resistance.  相似文献

To compare the pathogenicity of PPMV-1 in pigeons and chickens, both species of birds were experimentally infected with strain pi/CH/LHLJ/110822, which was isolated from a pigeon in China. The clinical signs, gross lesions, and histopathological changes were observed in pigeons inoculated with pi/CH/LHLJ/110822. The morbidity and mortality rates were 80% and 70% in pigeons, respectively, whereas there were no clinical signs or gross lesions in chickens inoculated with the same strain. The viral loads in tissue samples were detected by real-time RT-PCR, indicating that six tissue samples (i.e., kidney, lung, brain, trachea, Harderian glands, and proventriculus) had detectable viral RNA in all dead pigeons, and significant differences in viral loads between pigeons and chickens were observed in several tissue samples (i.e., Harderian glands, proventriculus, duodenum, pancreas, small intestine, and large intestine) on 3 days post-inoculation (dpi) and in brain tissue on 7 dpi. In general, viral loads in pigeons were higher than those in chickens, whereas antibody titers in pigeons were lower than those in chickens. These results showed differences in pathogenicity, efficiency of viral RNA replication, and humoral immunity, indicating different susceptibilities between the host species. Additionally, the cross hemagglutination inhibition assay and cross virus neutralization tests demonstrated that pi/CH/LHLJ/110822 antigenicity was different from those of strains La Sota and F48E9.  相似文献

In recent years, Texas has seen a dramatic increase in the number of clinical cases of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis (pigeon fever) infection in horses. Equine pigeon fever cases at Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (TVMDL) were analyzed with the objectives of investigating the spatiotemporal distribution and seasonal and annual trends of pigeon fever infection in horses in Texas between 2005 and 2011 and identifying high-risk areas and create a risk map for pigeon fever in horses in Texas. The study population consisted of horses culture-positive for C. pseudotuberculosis between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2011 at TVMDL. The Poisson model of scan statistics was fitted to identify disease clusters. Empirical Bayesian smoothing was performed with the crude incidence estimates, followed by the geostatistical method of kriging to delineate high-risk areas. Cases increased 10-fold between 2005 and 2011. The annual cumulative incidence ranged from 9.3 to 99.5 per 100,000 horses at risk. Two seasonal peaks in the number of cases were observed in June and in December. Scan statistics identified a primary cluster in central Texas in 2011 (P < .0001 and relative risk of 9.2). Isopleth risk mapping also delineated a high-risk area in central Texas. High-risk areas were also detected in the panhandle and northern Texas. The epidemiological investigation supported anecdotal reports that pigeon fever is re-emerging in the Texas horse population. This study provides a baseline for future investigations of pigeon fever in the Texas horse population and serves as a reference for the disease distribution for veterinarians and horse owners.  相似文献

提取木豆叶片基因组总DNA,通过克隆,测序木豆丛枝植原体海南株系质粒(pPPWB-Hn)的完整DNA序列,并使用生物信息学软件对该质粒全长序列进行分析。分析结果显示:pPPWB-Hn质粒全长4 218 bp,含有4个开放阅读框,分别编码Rep、dnaG、threonine synthase和未知蛋白。其中,Rep是2次跨膜蛋白,dnaG是单次跨膜蛋白,Rep和dnaG均与质粒自主复制有关。Rep和未知蛋白可能分布在细胞质中,dnaG可能定位到细胞膜上或膜外,Threonine synthase可能定位到线粒体膜上或线粒体内腔。系统进化树显示:pPPWB-Hn与植原体16SrⅡ组的pPNWB(AY270152),pTBBperi(DQ119297)及pTBBcap(DQ119296)处在同一进化分支。  相似文献

鸽禽Ⅰ型副粘病毒病蜂胶佐剂灭活疫苗的研制   总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9  
鸽禽Ⅰ型副粘病毒(A/PMV-Ⅰ)病是鸽的一种严重病毒性传染病,给养鸽业造成了巨大损失。为了更好地预防本冱的发生,我们用从现场分离鉴定的7株鸽A/PMV-Ⅰ毒株中筛选出3株抗原性良好的毒株作为种毒,研制成蜂胶佐剂混合毒株灭活疫苗,经安全试验、最佳免疫剂量测定、铲力试验,以及田间应用的结果,表明该疫苗抗原性良好、使用安全和免疫保护效果确定。实验室试验,用本疫苗免疫后30、90、180天,其保护脂数分别为100%、77.8%和55.6%,免疫有效期最少达6个月;在4℃-8℃保存,其有效其最少可达180天。  相似文献

Blastocystis is a common intestinal parasite among humans and animals such as non-human primates, pigs, cattle, birds, amphibians, and less frequently, rats, reptiles and insects. Since Blastocystis is a widely transmissible parasite between humans and mammals or birds, it is prominent to determine whether newly secluded non-human isolates are zoonotic. There are no comprehensive studies in Iran assessing the prevalence and molecular identification of Blastocystis infection in birds, especially in pigeons and crows. So, the aim of this study was to identify Blastocystis subtypes (STs) in crows and pigeons in Tehran province, Iran, using Nested PCR-RFLP and sequencing. Overall, 300 Blastocystis isolates from birds (156 pigeons and 144 crows) were subtyped by PCR, and the homology among isolates was then confirmed by RFLP analysis of the 18S rRNA gene. The prevalence of Blastocystis infection was detected 42.9% in pigeons and 44.4% in crows. All positive pigeons were owned by ST13 (100%). Among crows, 46 samples (71.8%) like pigeons were ST13, and 13 samples (20.3%) were ST14. Five samples (7.9%) remained unknown. This study was the first report of ST13 and ST14 of Blastocystis from birds. In the present study, our data revealed a high prevalence of Blastocystis sp. in pigeon’s and crow’s samples and the isolates from these birds were classified into two genetically distinct STs. Therefore, birds appear to be infected with various STs. It is important to determine the phylogenetic relationships between unknown STs from these birds and the multiple STs of Blastocystis.  相似文献

用SPF鸡胚从疑似鸽新城疫的信鸽饲养场分离到一株新城疫病毒。分离株利用电镜负染技术观察到典型的新城疫病毒粒子。生物学试验表明,该株病毒具有较强的毒力,最小致死量鸡胚平均致死时间(MDT)为68.4小时,1日龄雏鸡脑内接种致病指数(ICPI)为1.375,6周龄雏鸡静脉接种致病指数(IVPI)为1.34,在鸡胚成纤维细胞上能引起细胞病变。动物回归试验证明,分离株能致2月龄鸽死亡。  相似文献
