Abstract:Soil pH is one of the significant factors affecting the normal growth of blueberry. It is very important to quantify the change of soil pH in order to maintain the healthy growth of blueberry and improve its economic efficiency. In this study, 87 literatures were systematically collected from home and aboard, including 12 kinds of blueberry varieties. Meta-analysis was used to quantitatively simulate the effect of soil pH change on the growth of different blueberry varieties by using the data set extracted from the literatures. The results showed as follows: according to the impact of soil pH on blueberry growth, it is concluded that the optimal pH is 4.4-5.0. The absolute value of curve slope (|k|) was used to define blueberry sensitivity to soil pH change and blueberries was divided into three types, namely high, low and slow sensitive types, and the suitable soil pH were 4.2-5.6 for the high sensitivity type, 3.5-5.5 for the low sensitivity type, and 3.2-5.7 for the slow sensitivity type. Based on the quantitative effect of soil pH change on blueberry plant height, soil pH suitability was divided into four grades (optimum, appropriate, obstructive and improper). Thus, blueberry growers could adjust soil pH according to the divided pH ranges for blueberry growth, and relax or shrink soil pH requirement according to its sensitivity.
